Stats
The main difference is likely going to be in stats. As in the system I'm adapting this from, you only have 3 stats, in this case
Warrior, Rouge and Mage, like in the original source material. These stats determine what your character is good at.
Warrior affects how tough, strong and brave the character is, while
rogue affects how stealthy, agile and charismatic the character is. Finaly,
wizard is somewhat self-explanatory, affecting how good the character is at magic and how intelligent he is.
Character creation
At character creation, you'l be given 6 points to spend in stats. All stats start at 0, meaning -2 to all actions where that stat is applicable. Each point spen in a stat gives all actions where it's used +1, so a stat of 1 would mean you would only get -1 to actions involving that stat, while 3 would give you a +1 to actions involving that stat. With that in mind, there's a limit to how much you can increase a stat. Stats can't be lowered. You also get to pick two
skills and one
talent. Skills are small things, like being good with certain kinds of weapons, while talents are stronger, but harder to get. To qualify for a skill, you must have the stat it is associated with be at least 2. You also get to pick a race, if they are used at all.
Finaly, you calculate
HP (6+warrior),
fate (1x rogue) and
mana (2x mage). HP and mana are self explanatory, while you can spend fate to do things like avoid attacks that would kill the character, change minor details in the world (the store sells the items the character is looking for, an old friend works in an organization they need to infiltrate, and so on), or reroll or gain +2 to an action. Once spent, fate cannot be gotten back, except in certain situations, such as completing character goals.
You start with 250 of whatever currency is used in the game, which you can then buy items with at character creation.
That's a long explanation, so if there's anything I missed, just tell me. I'l select the equipment I deem apropriate for the characters during this test. All the skills we'l be using are in the rulebook, which you can find
here, alongside all the expansions.
