Foreword

This is not an RTD.

Ever been afraid to introduce a new mechanic? Every wanted to have some mass combat but you aren't sure exactly what it would do? Well fear no more!

This is a test space where non-canon frames for RTDs can be put up, run through, and commented on. Unlike the rollers block thread (Which concerns itself with the idea) this thread concerns itself entirely with mechanics. It is also a suppository of kno- hang on, that's not right at all... Hmm Ah yes... *Ahem* It is also repository of knowledge, containing all the data from past tests in an easy use format.

Here you are free to take up several posts to run turns to see if something will work, you are also able to hire test subjects (Hopefully) who will act as temporary players to bug test your ideas.

Below there is a system to register for testing, (Painless I assure you, it's more just so I can update your "tags" in order to separate your post from the others.) a place to register as a designated test subject, a list of current tests and their "tags" along with their open positions for test subjects, a list of current test subjects, and a list of all of the tests that have been run.

Registering For Testing (For GMs and GMs to be)

NOTE: This only Applies if you need test subjects, If you don't require any people for a test then you can feel free to run your test immediately, once you've run it I'll log the link to it into the "Test Log" section for other people to view.

Right, now this is a step of convenience. When you want to test something just post what you're going to test, the number of players you require for testing, and what color you're going to use for the text in the test.  That done I'll add you into the "Current Tests" section of this post along with your name, the type of test, a direct link to the first post of your test, your tag (The color you use for the test text), and the number of players you require.

For the sake of my remaining sanity (Yes Serious and Taricus, you haven't burned it all up yet) I would appreciate it if you would use this form.

Scientist: (Your Name Here)
Test Name: (Name of Test)
Test Type: (Combat, Socialistics, Stealth, Magic, Puzzle, etc)
Required Number Of Subjects: (Try to keep it below ten)
Rolls to be filled: (Something like  X Frogs, Y Cats, and a Z turkey hens.)
Tag: (Pick a Color, any color. -That isn't already being used in an active test- [Also, try to pick a color that doesn't make people want to gouge the eyeballs from their skulls when they read it.])
Goal: (What the hell you're trying to test.)

Becoming a Test Subject

Being in an RTD is fun, this is like that, except you don't have to go through the bother of creating a character persona, you just kick butt, negotiate deal, escape from a triple locked safe underwater, or whatever the test of the week requires, or you die trying. Of course dying painfully while attempting to do those things seems a bit more likely, but that's your job.

To register as a test subject just say OOH OOH PICK ME! in big, bold text along with how many concurrent tests you think you can handle. After you're on the list you'll be assigned to tests, or you can volunteer directly to a test if you're really keen on a particular one.

I also volunteer for any test at all.

EDIT: This makes me realize an SCP RTD would be very interesting.

Okay. You're a a class D. Next up, we're checking how good SCP-682 withstands the power of TvTrope links.

*chews on thread*

Eew, it's stale.

So, we just run our experiments in this thread? Fair enough.

I dunno, you guys have survived Thomas the tank engine, golems, zombies, nuclear explosions, laser whales, and being on the same team as ragnarock.  I don't think something as tame as a world ending rain of lava will even slow you guys down.

I suppose I could be a test subject as well. I'll volunteer for Schil's test as well, though I don't know my actual IQ. Probably just above the average.

I'll try. According to IQTest.com my General IQ score is 140, which means I've gotten dumber over the years. :-\ My thinking is also going to be crippled because I don't think outside the box very often, but I'll give it a shot anyway.

[TAG]

Alright, we'll start off with something simple:

EXPERIMENT 1:
Time to devise: >1 minute
Estimated time to complete: 2 turns

You see in front of you a console with four buttons, red, green, blue, and white. The white button is positioned underneath the other three. Above the red, green, and blue buttons are three LEDs, which are all dark. Post actions please.

(I'm 141 according to IQtest.com, by the way. I doubt that test is very accurate though. I've actually broken intelligence tests before.)

I'm 144 according to that test, but I've never felt those things were terribly accurate.

Press each of the buttons in this order: white, blue, green, red, white. Observe what the lights do for each press of the button.

Huh. I never really felt like a genius, and I'm pretty sure there are a lot of other people out there that would argue against that idea. But I suppose I might just be lazy. :P I actually went back and double checked that e-mail to make sure I got the right number from it. The problem I saw with the test as I was taking it is that there were some repeat ideas that had similar answers. And I tend to answer questions on test using my own logic to make reasonable guesses at questions I feel are taking too long for me to figure out.

Anyway, enough with that derail... :)

Press each of the buttons in this order: white, blue, green, red, white. Observe what the lights do for each press of the button.

You press the white button, and the LEDs blink green, red, blue. Pressing blue and red result in a buzzer sound, white makes the LED pattern repeat the same as it was the first time.

I guess we're doing this Micro-RTD style :P
