Beat the game for reals this time
Nope, not yet. You're on the second final boss, right? There are three tiers in the base game, four with the DLC.

Piercing shots are nice, but they take away the knockback. Thus, high damage + piercing works well, but high fire rate is better without piercing. If you have high enough speed (and especially if you fly), it doesn't matter too much.

Ouija Board, Technology, Horseman's Horse, and high damage? I don't think the Ouija Board would do anything in that combo, but I was kickass.

Okay, I'll amend the statement.

I beat the game enough for it to count in my stats screen as a win.

Also is it me, or did the heart seem noticeably easier than mom?

Yeah, I usually find the heart much easier than Mom.

You used to be able to get mom's fatty fat fat leg to stomp her own eye and do 75%+ damage. I haven't been able to do it since last patch though... so after that the mom fight is more annoying, yes.

Still among the easier boss fights. Wait til the last 2.

And then, they will be weaponized. Like everything in this game, from kittens to babies, everything is a potential device of murder.
So if baseless speculation is all we have, we might as well treat it like fact.

Mom is easy in her normal and red forms; the blue form is a pain. Used to be one of the easiest bosses for me, before all the WotL changes. The heart is even easier, as is It Lives unless you have a bad boss-killing setup.

I'm finding

impossible to beat without either of the fetus items. Any tips?
"Die within ten seconds" impossible, that is.

Not really, just stand to the side of him until he grins, which means he's going to fire his laser, and then get to the other side of him. Rinse and repeat.

Now, Mask of Infamy. That guy's a pain in the ass.

I use that strategy on Monstro 2 every time. Easy win.
Mask of Infamy isn't too bad, unless you have a slow character.

Here's something fun: Womb/Utero 2 + Curse of Darkness. Except it's not actually fun, at all. Same, but worse, goes for the even later levels.

Baiting his laser infinitely feels exploity, but okay. I'm prepared for next time.

The only boss that really ever gives me trouble is getting that spider boss early on :[

I have trouble with The Wretched, because it freaks me out and I sometimes panic. Rare boss, though.

It's not terribly easy. If you time it incorrectly, you could get hit or ignored as being to the side. I suggest getting used to using every exploit possible. You'll adapt to the game better.

EDIT: Random tip: The boss room is usually the farthest room away from the starting room. Useful if you have a map, but no compass.

Just got this game today on the steam sale, beat Mom on the second try. Prompted another friend to replay it, he couldn't even get past the second floor.

Something I really like about the game is the randomness, not being able to 100% each playthrough (there are always things you have to leave behind), and the minimal explanation for items and bosses. It reminds me of the best parts of the original metroid, mystery that makes the game more exciting to play because it doesn't make everything obvious, doesn't make it easy for you to get everything. You have to make tradeoffs between your limited resources. All of these things would be annoying, almost impossible to get away with in most modern games, but in this, because each individual game is so short, the issues don't stand out as much. You're not trying to 100% each time you play, because you'll just start again next time. It really is the perfect coffee break game.

Okay, Brimstone on Samson is a bad idea. Being super squishy does not synergize well with long charge shots.

edit: Oh my god peep. I've fought Peep five times. I've lost every single time.
