Oh gog. I found the ultimate invincibility combo.

Cursed Skull + Scapular.

At 1/2 a heart, you get teleported out of the room and healed for a soul heart. Taking any soul heart damage also does this. You're essentially invincible. It gets really annoying when you're trying to fight The Bloat, whose attacks are incredibly unpredictable. Especially the eye lasers.

Yeah, there are several combinations that can make you invincible. That is, as long as you can complete every room without taking any damage, given enough tries. It's so annoying for bosses that it's usually not worth it.

Finally finished this fight, after an hour of re-entering the room over and over. He kept killing me instantly with eye-lasers, or his eyes would move in my direction right after spawning. Dumb stuff like that. Very tedious.

EDIT: I don't care what you say, 3 dollar bill works perfectly with Technology 2.

Gah, Guppy is such a terrible item. Having 1 heart is just terrible no matter how you slice it. 9 lives hardly made up for being 1-shot by mom over and over and over. Would have been my first eve win, too!

I didn't think mom was that hard to dodge. It was the monsters that made that fight hard.

I think she gets noticeably harder when you haven't gotten any speed boosters the entire game. Suddenly that foot gets a lot more deadly when you cant outrun it even if you start moving as soon as you notice it appear.

I wonder if he dinked with the radius of it, because I always used to go straight up to avoid it. Now that seems to get me hurt.

Well, yeah, that would explain it. I always start with Cain, because I like fast things.

EDIT: Er.

While I was fighting Monstro, I used the Anarchist's Cookbook, and a gold chest appeared. Is this normal?

That'd be a first. It's not out of the realm of possibility it's bugged. When WoL first released, breaking a rock caused Ghost Isaac to appear, which wasn't intended.

How does something like that get past testing?

Same reason anything happens past testing.  It either doesn't happen very often or predictably or the game wasn't tested very much.

This. It happened pretty frequently. Along with the glitch where, after beating Mom, there's no trapdoor. And how, when you destroy a red fire, anything it drops appears in the top left corner of the room (which still hasn't been fixed).

Yeah, super meat boy, which was by the same team had a lot of bugs right out of the gate, including a pretty major crash that happened fairly often, something to do with controller support I think? Which was a huge deal at the time.

They are not good at bug testing. But they do make good games.

Ipecac+My Reflection+Coal=ugh.

You shoot bombs that fly around and get bigger until they can land on top of you. Good way to ruin a promising char, as I found out just now.

Ipecac is pretty garbage with everything, actually. The only _good_ synergy I've found with it is Ipecac + Technology 2, since either one of them will set your attack speed to minimum while the other one wont have any effect since you are already shooting as slow as possible. Plus the damage output is just stupid high when you are shooting lazorz + bombzorz.

Actually, Isaac isn't by Team Meat, which has a completely different guy as a programmer. But yeah, in both cases there's just two people making the games and two people can only test that much (and on only that many hardware combinations). Also, Edmund has said that some of the problems are caused by Flash not being made to handle such a huge game.

Still, there's a bit too many bugs for my taste too. I still don't see the splash art for unlocks. I just see the secret counter go up and get the achievements on Steam.
