Put 879 coins in the greed machine and the Lost starts with Holy Mantle. You unlock the D4... somehow, I don't have it yet.

Blow up...30 gambling machines, apparently. I got it naturally and long ago so the unlock condition isn't particularly memorable.

I just discovered a potentially amazing combination.

Start as Lilith, get the Ludovico Technique. The LT is already pretty amazing on its own, yes, but thanks to Lilith's unique familiar, you get a controllable tear AND the shots from her familiar. At the same time.

It's still early in this run, so anything can happen, but there is much potential for awesome right now.

I thought I already had an overdose of this game after getting Real Platinum God, but last week I finally commited to unlocking Keeper and getting the the Hush and Mega Satan kills with every character. And holy crap how much fun is this game. 193 hours in and I'm possibly more into the game I've ever been. Now that I figured out that Hush is actually beatable without getting hit too many times, it's a great challenge to get powerful enough to beat it in the 30 minutes you have. I used to think Hush's edge-warping shots were impossible to dodge, but the trick is that it only shoots them towards the same spot you were at when it started shooting, so it doesn't take that many steps to avoid most of the projectiles.

After a crazy run with Lilith, Lil' battery familiar, Tech X and Immortal baby I managed to use the box of friends something like 8 times in the Hush fight, creating an impenetrable barrier of Immortal babies that spammed the Necronomicon effect all the time while I sent around 20 laser barrages a second at the boss. That run actually finished the 9 Hard Mode markings on Lilith so I'm done with her forever. Now I'm "only" missing 23 of 276 achievements. Only need to kill Hush with Lost and Keeper and I have 4 or 5 characters without a Mega Satan mark. After that it's just a matter of getting the last of the hard mode markers and I should be done once again.

Oh yeah, they changed the Sacrifice Rooms completely a few weeks ago. They are now totally worth it if you have some disposable extra health to go around. You can get key pieces and Angel room items and even teleport straight to the Dark Room if you keep at it long enough. Finally getting to Mega Satan is more consistent and you can even take some Devil Deals on the way.

I thought that was a typo, but no, you can actually go straight to the Dark Room and have a 100% chance to fight Mega Stan because you have guranteed fights with Uriel and Gabriel.

Heh.

I just beat the Chest as Judas. The run had been going reasonably well thanks to the Serpent's Kiss in the first treasure room. I only had three red hearts, but I was maxxed out on black hearts.
Anyway, first thing I find in the Chest is Pyromaniac (immunity to explosions, which also heal you). Second thing? Ipecac. I would have had to try to lose at that point. Probably could have taken Mega Satan if I had bothered to get the key >.>

Maaan, I got so freaking lucky. Lost Run with Mom's Knife, Empty Vessel, Stop Watch, Daddy Longlegs, a million damage ups, the triple shot mutation and a familiar with a knife. And two orbitals. I beat Hush without even breaking Holy Mantle. Then I found a "Get out of Jail for Free card" to get to Mega Satan. So I never need to touch Lost again. Mega Satan/Hush with Lost might be the hardest thing to do in the game and weirdly that's done. So now I just need a build that breaks Keeper and I'm set.

The hardest thing is GETTING to mega satan. Can't use sacrifice rooms obv., ignoring devil deals makes it way harder. Dad's key or jail card are the easiest ways, mostly because you can take devil deals.

Had a particularly great run earlier as Eve.

Somewhere around the first map I obtained Leo. The ability to break obstacles allowed me to collect a lot of items on the far reaches with little effort. I also proc'd a Devil Room containing a 50% chance resurrection item, and more importantly, a Dark Bum. Being Eve, I spent both of my hearts, so I was gimping on one and one half of a soul heart.

Further down, I obtained, in no particular order: Polyphemus, Nails, Jesus Juice, a bunch of HP cap increasing items, the oh-so-mighty Goat Head, a lot of frakkin coins, a sack ensuring I had around 70 coins and 50 bombs+keys at the end of the run as well as expendable cards, a bunch of other tears inducing items, and due to the relative earliness I proc'd the second Devil Room, the Goat Head which allowed me to get the rest of the Guppy items, adding a metaphorical 10 HP to my maximized 12.

The cards were pretty damned useful, as blood donation terminals were too. Those practically allowed me to regenerate my HP to full occasionally with necromantic hearts, using the Dark Bum power and the slot machine. Was able to summon beggars en masse, and the acquisition of a Book of Shadows ensured I never got damaged while I curbed Mom and her heart to the corner.

Satan died just as fast, without me suffering any damage.

Jesus.

Everything and I mean do mean everything is now done. All the Lost Runs, all the Keeper runs and Mega Satan and everything else on hard mode on every character. Last few hours were me breaking Greed mode to spawn the last items (note to self, a D4 effect also rolls away Chaos). Keeper was probably the toughest as he's so hard to get going, but after getting Dead Cat (with a few Health Up pills), Penny Tears and Swallowed Penny, I was pretty much invincible as long as I managed to sprint safely and fast to a coin every time I got hit. Nerve-wracking, but doable.

I also had a lot of trouble beating Mega Satan with Maggie and Azazel, I died to the last phase of the boss with both of them.

Maan, the last few hours were a bit grueling, but damn this is (was?) a really awesome game.

Does anyone have a good strategy for playing as Lazarus? I was just barely able to beat Issac with him last night, and it was nowhere near a sure thing. I lost his first life fairly late into the run and suffered pretty badly from losing his accumulated health pickups.

I'm no BoI expert, but I think the point of Lazarus is dying as early as you can. Maybe at the end of the first floor, not picking up any health upgrades until you revive.

Yeah, dying ups your luck stat and I think your damage multiplier.  And you get anemic, which is a thing.

Yeah, pretty much you should use your health as beneficially as possible and then die with a health up closeby. Best case is getting a health up item and a Devil Deal from a boss fight. Let the health up stay while you spend your health in the deals, then die anywhere and pick up the health up item. Enjoy your newly OP Lazarus.

Other option nowadays could be spending all the health to get as much out of a sacrifice room as you can. Also, you should check all curse rooms early on. You kind of want to die.
