I'm hoping their October content update is something for Halloween....and not the passing 2nd update that already happened. I seriously don't want this game to end :P

Beaten Mom 1. Haven't beaten Mom 2. My compulsion to explore usually gets the better of me, because victory after Depths is assured by not screwing around and just beating the boss.

I know it's just a flash game and that kind of makes me sad. They've got a format here for a rogue-like that could have a very long and interesting life span. Sadly, I think the game is probably gong to be trapped by its own format.

Anyways, MOAR ISAACS~

This is one game I vow to never read a wiki on.

Yeah, I wish it would be ported to a different language like VVVVVV was. It's a totally rad game that has a lot of potential to become increasingly great. But I'll probably continue playing it for quite a while.

This game makes me so fucking mad but I can't stop playing.

I've never made it to depths 2.  Every time I get to depths 1 bullshit happens and I spend most of the level at half-heart.

The parabolic trajectory on projectiles is really fucking irritating, you can't tell where the damn thing is actually going.

If you think Depths I is bad, Depths II is worse. Can you say indestructible turrets and indestructible moving spike blocks? I think you can.

Pro-tip: Ladders are a god send. Position yourself over a 1 tile pit and half of the annoying enemies that love to get up in your grill can't do anything to you, nor can the Evil Brains. (God I loathe and love those things.)

IMO, missile defense like Halo of Flies, Pretty Fly, Attack Fly or Cube of Meat are pretty much essential by Depths II, and almost mandatory for everything else beyond it.

I just got through my first real ending with Cain (who rocks).
I'm enjoying this game and i'm suprised at just how polished and interesting it is for a 5 dollar flash game. The indie scene rocks.  :D

Augh, this. The shadows under projectiles are too damn hard too see, It makes tight-squeeze dodges a real crapshoot.

It's also frustrating when the RNG gives you bullshit drops, like 3 range-increasing upgrades in a row, or items over and over again and no upgrades. Good drops make a huge difference.

I beat Mom fairly easily, after 2 or 3 runs. But damn son,

It's a wonder Isaac ever made it out in the first place.

Made it to the next-to-last chamber after a few false starts and a lot of experimenting with pills.  Had a pretty good set: heels, the little sister, the dog head, the belt, and loads of bombs.  Got mobbed though.

Just about everything in the game pisses me the Hell off, but I do get it.  The only thing I have a real problem with is the frequency of rooms that spawn a reward after clearing, on an unreachable island in the middle.  Fuck you game, I need that key.

I found the Bible one level before the Mom level, but then I got cocky. I started getting careless, and then I died. FUUUUUUUUUU-

(For those of you who don't know, the Bible one hit kills Mom.)

You may already know this, but you can make bridges by blowing up an adjacent rock on your side of the pit. Some don't have that option, though, and really are unreachable without certain items.

Another pro-tip. Always have 1 key on hand to access the next treasure room. I found that when I started sticking to that, I was getting much less frustrated by the crap that shows up in the middle of rooms. Treasure rooms are by far the most valuable room in game, and you know they're going to be on every (pre-Womb) level. And missing one of them can really exacerbate whatever upgrades you haven't been getting (usually life.)

Using keys on Gold Chests is a crap shoot. Rarely will you get enough out to really make your last key worth it. Only rarely do they actually contain upgrade items.

Also try to save two bombs at least per floor to find the secret room, because it often has items in it rather than money or slot machine. It usually only takes me 2 to 3 bombs to find it.

Also if you find the little dude holding up the coin sign, feed him! He almost always gives up an upgrade if you feed him enough coins. I've gotten a heart container from him for 1 coin....and a ladder, several bombs and hearts for about 15 coins. Honestly he's a better use of your money than the slot machines, so prioritize him first. And don't forget you can blow up the little dude or any of the machines to get a few goodies from them too.

And since I posted anyways...
