I've seen all of Psychedelic Eyeball's LP of Super Meat Boy (and he's doing custom chapters now on SMW) and I've played a few runs of Binding of Issac.  If you lose during the final boss fight you still seem to get an ending cutscene?  Because I was miraculously lucky with item grabs one time but my health and skill was just not enough...I think.  They were down to like 1/5 HP but I'm pretty sure I did die.

The game ends when you kill the final boss the first time. So I think if you killed them at the same time you died, you "technically" win.

I have no idea what happened then.  Because I have 0 Mom Kills but I have an ending cutscene too.

EDIT:
OH maybe I'm not really done.  I should get to the last boss again it seems.

Yeah if you have 0 mom kills you're still something like 20 wins away from SEEing the real ultimate final last boss of ultimate destiny.

131 hours into the game
94/97 secrets unlocked
96/97.

I'm so jealous. 190 hours, 88/97 secrets, 414 deaths, 91 mom kills, 196 items. I guess I'm just bad at this game.
I seem to have 91/97. At 84 hours.
I got a couple of the end-game trinkets with a few characters when that patch came out, the results seemed to be all muddled up I have no idea which ones I have to do. If I have to do Eve or Samson again I will cut myself.

OMG hate lesser Masks of Infamy rooms. They've been the death of several runs that were going great.

I was just got caught in one that was basically a series of 1 tile wide corridors because of rocks. I beat it, at the cost of 1 life, then proceeded to get 2 more rooms with Masks.

Oh and this was with Curse of the Labyrinth on Necropolis. And while I'm ranting, screw 4 stage mobs that puke out more mobs while you hurt them, and screw the turrets taking just oooonnneeee more shot at you after the room is cleared.

I swear to god, Wrath of the Lamb really dialed the "fuck you" of the game up to an 11. I'm lucky if I can even get to the Womb these days without 10 deaths and 4 hours played.

I decided to spend some QT with BoI over the weekend, and I feel like I'm trying to walk away from an abusive relationship. ><

Yeah, it seemed like the bullshit ramped up to me too. Before, it was merely annoying when I got a room where I started off blocked in and surrounded/ambushed. Now it happens multiple times a game. Forget about the no-damage achievements these days.

Well, I just managed to beat The Womb for the first time (as Isaac).  Mainly by having a lot of hearts.  Also got enough money to unlock Cain, yay.

Those guys suck, they used to take off a whole heart of damage killing both Judas and Samson in one hit. Lucky they've been nerfed down to half a heart damage but still annoying.
It seems Necropolis is the hardest level in the game. The difficulty really gets ramped up and it seems to have the most bullshit enemies, when you don't have the items to deal with them. >_>

I'm definitely a lot more happy to find The Depths than I am Necropolis.  It's really mainly the masks+hearts, they can go to hell.

I managed to beat Womb again with The Doctor's Revenge challenge, those bombs are really damn useful.  Also I unlocked a new item for Isaac for some reason.

When you find that item you've just unlocked from the Doctor's Revenge challenge you will know what it is like to hold the power of the gods in your hands.

I'll look forward to that.  Isaac starts with one of the ones I unlocked though, which is cool.

Spider Boy was also an easy win - I finished Womb with 9 permanent hearts and them all full.  The slowing effect really renders almost every problem enemy in the game trivial (especially bosses), and the 4 shots mean it's almost always delivered when you need it to be.  It's funny how it's rigged up to screw up both chargers (they're too slow to get anywhere near you) and ranged enemies (their attacks now have horrible range, and even if you're close they're slow enough to dodge).
