*points to the thread sub-sub-title*

I think this accurately describes half of the new stuff in BoI. Randomness heaped on top of ambiguity, drenched vagueness. I've had Spacebar items firing off randomly in the middle of fights, items magically reappearing in old rooms, a second Isaac riding a horsey covered in an aura floating around the screen that didn't seem to do anything and items and trinkets galore with nebulous purposes. There seem be a ton of temporary effects as well now, adding to the confusion (and random fun.)

All in all it's pretty awesome. I've only got about 40 hours in BoI but this can easily take me to 100.

Also fuck spiders, they're wily.

This. I freaked out a bit. It seemed to come out of an exploding rock. I tried to kill it, but couldn't. EDIT: It happened again. It might not be a bug. Probably is, but maybe they just felt like adding something especially odd.
There are a lot of graphical bugs. Also things like explosions turning into objects that can be pushed around (but don't do any damage - they're just there).

The Binding of Isaac: Wrath of the Spiders. Spiders everywhere. I hate spiders. Widow is particularly difficult.

Note that there's a major bug: On the level "Necropolis" (alternate Depths), defeating the boss won't open the trapdoor - you're stuck. I don't know if this is always the case or only sometimes, but it's on the wiki and I've had it happen.

EDIT: Found out what the faith hearts - or whatever they're called (the white half-hearts) - do:

Wow, that's sweet. I really tip my hat to McMillen. People talk a lot about diversity and variety in games but it's rarely done to the hilt. He's iterated and tweaked and added, and it's really amazing to be continually surprised and delighted when you find something new or novel.

Haven't run into that yet. It seems Arena doors might be bugged too, because I was going through what looked like closed doors. Did it while an arena fight was in progress and the music kept playing even though all the enemies were gone when I returned.

Could you fly? While flying, you can go through closed arena doors. And if you leave an arena while fighting and go back, the enemies will be gone; leaving mid-fight causes the music to keep playing for a while. I don't know how much of that is bugs, but it's been like that since before the DLC.

Just lost a super promising character to the "no exit" bug. This one occurred on Depths I during a Curse of the Labyrinth. It also happened to be the Mom fight.

So after a solid day playing this....

Lost Dove is way too common. I think I killed Mom three times with it at least.

Famine on Level 1 AGAIN? *sigh*

Widow on Level 1? *sigh*

Please god, no more Ipecac.

The sacrificial rooms? I can't seem to see a real use for them except for people who like the dead cat...and that just seems like a waste of lives unless you're getting multiple dead cats in one game. It's just kind of a useless room.

The spiked doorways that lead to evil chests rarely seem worth it. You only seem to take damage going one way when you're flying.

I lol'd at the Ankh. Such a fun idea.

There's more than just one secret room per level sometimes, and they seem to disobey the general rule that secret rooms connect to as many other rooms as possible. The Miner's Helmet and X-ray Glasses just got x2 as useful. Not just because you get secret room stuff...but because they're often rooms that have faith.

On that note, the Prayer Card may be one of the best items in the game right now. Used right after you kill a boss but before you go down a level, it guarantees you another heart container. You really can't beat ~3 - 7 extra heart containers. The Book of Revelations still gives it a run for its money though.

The Fortune Telling Machine is funny. I can't tell if there's any effect from the message or if it's just being cute. I don't use it a lot because I'm trying to sort out what trinkets do and swapping them up doesn't help that. But it does seem to like to give out Soul Hearts and Tarot Cards a lot too.

Red Patch is a great trinket (one of the few I've figured out what it does.) Get damage boost the first time you take red heart damage? Yes please.

Puppie's Paw. LULZ.

Curse of the Labyrinth is both a blessing and a curse. Ever sad that levels can go so quickly in BoI? Blessing. Not wanting to spend 20 minutes on one floor? Curse. Loot hungry? Blessing. On Womb 2? Curse.

Screw Devil Begger. He'll take as many as 2 hearts before giving you something something.

Still have no idea what the playing cards do.

Bloody Lust is probably my favorite new item. It really helps compensate for a lack of damage and helps clear rooms much easier. Red Patch + Blood Lust + Any of the Demonic upgrades = Beast.

Haven't tried any of the challenges, but some of the sound fun.

Lastly, a question.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

All in all, this was worth $3 and then some. I only wish McMillen wasn't moving on to another game or that this could go open source, because it's still got room to grow.

I agree with the second two. But I've not encountered Famine yet; and are you talking about the Dead Dove? I've only picked that up once.

I think it's maybe not a trinket? I had it and the Ace of Spades at the same time once. Either way, it's useful.

2 of hearts gives you 2 hearts. Don't know about the others.

I bought this a few hours ago, and've been playing it for hours.

I agree that the loot is a little unbal though, I was playing as a levitating lazor demon a while ago and everything was easy mode. Temporarily.

On a slightly different tangent, does anyone have tips for this game? I've had it for a loong time, but have yet to beat it even once.

Um, just keep playing? You'll pick up on strategy. Remember what each enemy does, and learn how best to avoid it. Use the environment to your advantage when you can, usually by shooting through rock corridors alternating with using the rocks for cover.
If you haven't read these yet, they may help:

I also know what one other trinket does - the Cursed Skull

And I'm pretty sure the Ace of Spades makes cards more common, but that's obvious.

So I've been playing through this and been having fun. Unlocked Sampson but I'm not all that fond of him. His "rage" ability is alright but its not worth losing all the decent stats at the start. Plus Cain is the best and will always be the best.

So far The Prayer Card is completely over-powered as sin. I got the 9 Volt with it and it felt like cheating, I would shudder to see The Battery added as well.
Haven't managed to get to heaven yet since I've only done a few play-throughs and the door keeps spawning to shoel, so we'll have to wait 'till we see the new boss. I have a feeling I know who it is though.  ;D

It would of been nice if the Trinkets had a short explanation or hint to their use. The majority seems to be activated when you're hit so it's trial and error to figure out what they do and which to keep on you. I think this is a valid time to look at the wiki spoilers.

Apart from that everything is great. The new enemies are all interesting and the new loot, albeit some overpowered, adds more depth than "Get the Nail/Book of Rev + Battery + 9 Volt to win the game".
There are a few of the "don't ever mix" items which can be quite annoying. I picked up something that made me shot out green explosive balls after I got a whole bunch of tear/high damage items and it reset them to none.

Cancer seems to be a good go-to trinket for almost any build.
FUCK WIDOW. Always on the first floor >_>

Fuck glitches.  One of my best runs yet, kill Mom and I can't exit >_>

How's game performance with the DLC?

Some people have complained that there's even more slowdowns than in the base game.

Seems about the same, but it's always been dependent on the room you got spawned. Got through both Mom fights with a real issue.

Yeah, just got the no-exit-spawn bug. Had a good run before that, though. I might give this a while to get patched up before I go back.

And then, they will be weaponized. Like everything in this game, from kittens to babies, everything is a potential device of murder.
So if baseless speculation is all we have, we might as well treat it like fact.

I think a new patch is out already. Should fix the no-exit bug, at the least. That's the worst. Didn't they test this before releasing it?

His starting stats are okay. It's a more difficult start with him, but the game is better later on if you can make it. I don't like Cain much, personally; I prefer more randomness over the sure wins you can get with him.

EDIT: Yep, Necropolis is now working correctly.
In regards to the earlier point I made about the last level

Also, I have completed the challenge "The Doctor's Revenge!" - which is pretty fun. Start off with the Dr. Fetus and Doctor's Remote items.

So I've finished it with Isaac, Cain and Sampson so far. Judas and then the challenge girls to go  :-[.
I just found the "Mega Fetus" and I have to say it has to be the most fun I've had in the game, perhaps a little over-powered but hell still fun.

I can see the "Large Marge" Challenge is going to be a fan hit. It can make for some interesting characters that's for sure.

EDIT: Demon Beggers seem pointless to me. They just want way too much hearts and I have yet to get a useful item from them. It seems the normal beggers themselves have been nurfed and seem to take a lot more coins untill they drop.
Also the slot chances of spawning a dollar seems to have been lowered. I've put in 30+ coins in quite a few slots and haven't seen that dollar yet. I suppose it's a good thing in the end, was way too easy to get one.
