Lords of Uberdark - 3D Voxel Based Mining/Building Game *+DORFS!* - 0.35 is up

So I found this game via RPS.

At first it reminded more about a more indie version of From Dust, but I found more info about it on its Kickstarter page

Lords of Uberdark (tentative title) is a 3D mining & building game that I'm currently writing, much like Infiniminer and its more prominent cousins. It's still in an early stage of development (pre alpha), but already has most of the core functionality and a handful of features that set it apart -- especially smooth terrain and cartoon-style rendering. It also does nice texture blending, animated water, raytraced lighting, random terrain generation, ore veins, and a bunch of other stuff.

The plan is to get it finished! Pronto! Right now, my to do list looks sorta like this...

*Better collision detection & resolution

*Grappling hook object

*Material hardness

*Skeletal physics

*Dorfs

*Goblins

*Multiplayer support

*Tree object

*Better fluid simulation

*Better torch object

*Furnace object

*Anvil object

*Item making system

*Weapons

*Armor

*Ships & Cannons

*Other fun stuff

Main goal at this stage is to have a team-based game pitting Dorfs against Goblins, with RTS elements like resource gathering and base building -- along with first person combat.

WAIT DID YOU SAY DORFS VS GOBLINS AND BASE BUILDING?!

There is no Alpha yet, it's planned for early August. The Kickstarter goal of $20k seems a tab ambitious too, but today Notch tweeted about it and it's on RPS, so you never know. For now it's just 1 guy working on it.

UPDATE 1:
a) Single player Alpha will be coming out "August 10th-ish, hopefully"
b) Aaron BIshop (aka the guy making it) now has a twitter account, follow it for the latest news.

UPDATE 2:
Kickstarter $20k goal reached! Less than 18 hours remaining to put down $10 for access to the alpha and all future versions.

Well, there's been a lot of cool things done with voxels lately, so I wouldn't mind seeing a fun voxel sandbox with dorfs.

Looks neat. Can't even tell it's voxels. Very organic looking shapes.

I can see this evolving into a very fun game, but I'm afraid that could take quite some time.

This could be sweet, like a fantasy themed Ace of Spades- unfortunately, I foresee it having similar griefing problems.
