Can I ask what class(es) you played and how you feel they measure up? I like the idea of the new skill system, just don't know anyone who's played it.
I've played, I think, over 20 hours of the beta, but what do you mean by measuring up?
The skill is system is great anyway. Instead of picking skill points that are locked down, every level you unlock either a skill, a rune or both in a predetermined order. At any time you can change your 6 active skills to any combination you want, though you can only have one rune active per skill. There's a 15-second delay after changing a skill until you can use it, to prevent people from just speccing to every opponent and forcing you to have a concrete strategy.
It's a great system as it really frees the player to try any build they want without any penalty. There's no need to reroll the character or get some limited skill reset thing. You'll have everything available and you just need to figure out the best thing for you.
I'll just summarize my general feel of the classes:
Barbarian is my absolute favorite, hits like a truck and really feels like it. Nice in-your-face style, even though the skills are mostly modified from Diablo 2. Rage instead of mana, so you get to use all the skills a lot.
Witch Doctor is a pretty nice combination of the Diablo 2's Act 3 shamans and the Necromancer. So fireblasts and summons. Feels a bit weak until you get a skill called Soul Harvest, which steals souls from the enemies next to you and gives stacks that boost intelligence. On max stacks you get almost a 100%-damage boost from it for like 20 seconds.
Wizard is a different kind of Sorceress that deals damage in bursts. The spells feel really impactful and flinging them all in a quick succession is great fun. he's also great at breaking stuff.
Monk jumps in the middle of the enemies and AoEs them all to death or just moves them around, then blinks to them to finish 'em off. Seems to be everywhere at once, but I'm not too crazy about him. Seems a bit too much like the Barbarian.
Demon Hunters just made me happy by moving in dungeons really fast, but otherwise I didn't really get into them. Just a bunch of cone-like ranged attacks and the abilities seem to either slow the enemies or move you away from them.
The game feels great in every way though and UK Amazon has it at 29.95£, so I'm sure it will absolutely be worth that.
