[38a] Of Caravans and Corpses
« on: February 13, 2008, 02:25:00 am »

Hadn't notice caravans bringing caged corpses in awhile, but it seems all civs are currently bringing me dead animals.  I'm in a freezing area.  Not sure if this is a new/reintroduced bug.

I remember it once before, I don't think it was fixed yet.

That's been around for some time, yeah.   Merchants don't consider what a long trek through freezing territory will do to those tigers they picked up, and so they'll happily cart them over tundra and glaciers, without giving them so much as a blanket.

Elves are the worst in this respect.   They always bring so many exotic animals, nonw of which are suited to cold climates, and so they all freeze to death.  And then those holier-than-thou elves, who will turn away at the thought of someone so horribly fiendish that they'd make an earring out of some dead goat's bones, will try to sell you an elephantsicle and see nothing wrong with it.

You know, that's always bugged me about the elves. What, exactly, do they think I'm going to DO with those animals? And why are they capturing animals and then trading them away to psychotic guys with axes? But don't offer them a shell you found off the ground or they'll get sooOOooOoo~ offended. -.-

You are supposed to hold them, pet them, and give them cute names.

Well in an old version I used my hordes of pets to annihilate any thief that appeared in my fort.

A shell you "found" off the ground?

Uhuh.  Right.

What I do with the bears and cougars is tie them up near the trade depot or in the big common areas.  It impresses everyone.  And deals with berserkers.

The elves just brought me a load of corpses, my map is cold and they brought a bunch of tropical creature but they also brought a dead fox even though my map has wild foxes.

Happened here as well. I'd like a living wolf, but not a dead one...

I have it saved when the elves are here. I can upload it somewhere if need be.

Edit: Forgot to ask: I read in this post. from November that you can't get the corpses out of these cages. Is that still true?
