Ok so this game has got some good features in it. Its only major downfall is it is very very slow paced.

However, that may be good for a lets play.

For those who haven't played it, it's a game based in the near future and essentially a war simulator. However the depth is pretty good, it contains a decent economic model and the diplomacy isn't entirely crap, though it could be greatly improved.

You can be nearly any nation in the world. Or in a split-reality campaign you can be american states(independant) or fractured european states.

For fun, I think it would be best to pick a US state or european state in the shattered world campaign. I think starting with no units would be the best for a sandbox type game. This means the AI starts with 0 aswell.
This way we get to build up our army from scratch. This will however take a while, as production is slow.

Ok the situation.


We are importing a large amount of raw materials.
We produce alot of consumer goods, but we require said raw materials to produce these for export.

We have a wide array of infantry, artillery, naval transports and air transport technologies.
These include, Marines and elite paratrooper infantry/Rangers.

A distinct lack of Tanks.

We need some Fighter/bomber technologies.

We have a decent AT missile schematic we can use, but we need a attack plane to use it.

We are in control of Andrews AF base and Fort Meade.

I have removed all small business tax and corporate tax to spur growth.

I have increased transport funding to maximum, and education/healthcare to a high funding level.

Military expenditure on training is very high, I expect us to have a small amount of elite infantry and supporting arms.

We are at peace.

Issues on the table

-We can afford to buy one decent technology from another state. Should it be an attack aircraft, a multirole aircraft or a fighter?

-Whom shall we try and befriend as allies?

North Virginia look weak, they have alot of Naval technology but not much else.

-What should our overall military strategy be? Given our current units technology, I suggest we go for using mainly elite paratrooper infantry, supported by AT weapons and some mechanised infantry. Also use Marines on the ground.

-What should we research? I'm pretty sure at this point we need to research some air units. I will provide a list in a moment of possible air unit techs.
For this we have little choice, the most useful techs we can research are the Stryker APC(to be our mechanised infantry) and B-1B - Lancer. This bomber will be extremely useful in the future.

Then build up the military as best as you can, without straining the economy.  As you said, use elite infantry, and whatever other unit you think is good enough.  I guess you should attack North Virginia, as long as you can attack them by land or air, not by sea.

I'd say go for the bomber right now, the APC can wait i think, if we are going to invade NV and they don't have much stuff i think we can do it trough airpower and infrantry alone.

Do you have Causi Belli on Deleware?

If not, you need to build an Intelligence Center, and start turning out spies.  Then, you send those spies into Deleware and any other state you want to fight, until the spies get caught and the state declares war.

Otherwise, you face the very real threat of a dogpile.

Since you're building the army from scratch, I'd suggest building up as quickly as possible, and surprising your foes before they have a decent army.  And horde military supplies, as there will likely be a shortage very soon.
