What is your favorite type of Iron?

Basically I was wondering what your favorite type of iron to find is. Besides Goblinite of course. Mine is magnetite because It comes in large clusters instead of veins a lot.

Also, is having a river source on your map any good?

Oh, you mean favorite ore. I was going to reply "The kind refined into steel."

My favorite ore is magnetite, because I've found it in massive quantities. We're talking multiple layers a quarter full each with magnetite. It was amazing.

And river source: Doesn't really matter. It means you've got a river. As you can't poison towns downstream yet, there's no advantage over any other part of a river.

Hm, hemqatite I think. It's the one I see the most.

And no, not to my knowledge. I like putting forts as far downriver as I can while avoiding salt water. Last time I did that, my wagon was on a frozen river in a 3 z-level river valley.

Can't know about ores, steel for usability and in real life I find pig iron rather fascinating.

the reason wich make dwarfnite  better than any other ores is that it has a random chance of when mined 1 item o f iron or steel will pop out .

Yeah magnetite is really the King of all Ores (aside from the cotton candy).

A single "bloom" of magnetite can have close to 300 ore bits, and given that there is often several "blooms" per layer, well shoot lets just say on my curent map, I've counted over 10 blooms, I've minned only 5 of them fully and have 2 master Wep makers and several Master metalsmiths and metal workers.

Limonite, since it doubles as a FLUX stone and Iron ore. Also, I have a metric shitton of it right now.
