This is a topic for people that have several games they would like to play, but aren't sure where to start and would like some opinions on what games should take priority. I realize this is a very subjective thing since everyone has different tastes in games, but I personally have a chronic bout of crippling indecision when faced with so many choices, and I figure maybe someone else might too. I figure I'd give it a try and see if it works out.

People are encouraged to post their own list, and offer opinions as well. Feel free to add comments on what you prefer to play. Also maybe keep your list down to stuff you know you would like to play; I'm not sure about this rule yet though.

I'll start it off. I'll add in some RTS games but they are generally low priority for me, tell me if one has particularly noteworthy story/gameplay worth experiencing.

Whatever option you do, I recommend throwing in a mission or two of hitman between games/play sessions. It can get rough playing a lot of missions in a row, but every once in a while, It's just perfect.

To the OP: If you haven't ever played Thief 3, I'd start with that. Next, I'd say Gothic 1 and 2. Gothic 3 is okay, but they give you a bit too much freedom and you can fairly easily kill anybody, even entire towns, accidentally (and it doesn't run too well on most computers). In my opinion, Gothic 4 was a total letdown. Next, I'd go for Cthulhu Saves the World, as it's a bit nostalgic and quite funny.

To Taz: The only game on your list that I would really suggest starting with is Demons Souls. It can get frustrating as all hell, but once you start killing bosses left and right, it become really fun.

Definitely Aquaria. A rather neat (albeit not overly difficult) metroidvania with brilliant atmosphere and aesthetics and rather deep storytelling.

You'd think with so many games half-started I'd have some direction, but.. I am a horribly indecisive person.

I think I'll focus on Aquaria for now, since I've already gotten into it a fair bit.

Taz: I'll second Demon's Souls but that's mostly because I haven't played any of the oth- wait what Ocarina of Time? If you haven't played through it before, that probably belongs on the obligatory first spot. If it's the 3DS remake and you played it before, probably a spare time choice. It's not the end-all most important game ever some people see it as, but it is still an important classic. Recettear is good, but I find it's something you can play on and off in your spare time, it's a nice game for when you just want to sit down, relax, and have some-what more than mindless fun.

Rogue Survivor.

Battleships Forever (sadly the forums aren't that active, but with our help maybe we could get it active again, or something).

Baldur's Gate 1, BG 2 and BG2: Throne of Bhaal.

Dragon Age: Origins (get the Ultimate Edition, has all the expansions, DLC etc. that was released for it. I'm waiting for a Dragon Age 2 Ultimate Edition for the same reason).

Mass Effect 1 and 2 (no Ultimate Editions, sadly, so you gotta get the DLC manually)

If you have a Playstation 2, Shadow of The Colossus. Or if you want, you can wait for the PS3 version of SoTC to be released and get that (same game afaik, but they've given the graphics a boost. Not that it was sorely needed, 'cause damn, SoTC is still a good-looking game).

Haschel: I vote Aquaria or Trine. Partially because I've heard they're both quite good (I've only played Trine, definitely liked it) and partially because they're relatively short compared to some of the other things on that list, so you can make your list shorter and make the decisions easier! That's the main method I use for myself anyway.

Taz: Also thoroughly jealous of ZHP. I've seriously debated buying a PSP simply for that game. I recommend either that (although it's not particularly short I don't think), OoT (great game and you're halfway through already! FINISH HIM!), or Ghost Master (because it's fun in a goofy way and easy to see you're making progress as the missions aren't particularly long most of the time).

Buy a PSP for the PSone games, of which there are many good ones.

If anyone is going to play Supreme Commander, play the first ones. Ignore 2.
