Alright I guess I will apply for the defending squad, providing support fire (medium-long range).

I would suggest a semi automatic, .50 BMG (or higher caliber, in that case a fictional round will be needed). The option of being able to change rounds would be nice too, AP, incendiary, etc. The CheyTac "Repulse" (Not a very original name, I know, but I can't think of anything that sounds good). Respectable damage, High range, Below Average RoF, Average Reload, 10 round mag.

And how are we gonna capture them? We've got to get in quickly, finish the job quickly and get out quickly. I don't one to be slowed down by some stunned bug if we've got to run for it.

Also, I agree with Toriad: he's our only sniper, he's gonna be more useful outside shooting things from afar.

You're staying on the second squad as it's leader if Dwarmin says you have Psionics, Otherwise I'll change you into the Supp. Squad leader.

Psionics, mostly. Preferably using mind control or just knocking them out. And we're defending inside the tunnels, not outside.

Oh nice, that means we have a chance of being ambushed from behind while dealing with a ruthless group of bugs charging from the front. I suggest deploying sentries (?) If that's allowed, of course. Alternatively we could use our local anonymous alcoholic's beer bottles, smash them all over the place for some cheap traps.

Sony KS10 LSMG (Laser SMG)
The Sony KS10 is Sony's contribution to the world of bugzapping. It promises a finely modulated beam highly effective at short range against lightly armoured targets and a Micro-Fusion reactor capable of over 100,000 shots and a Rate of Fire of 180 shots a minute. As such, it is billed as the weapon with no reloads. Unfortunately, the crystals that modulate the laser are prone to overheating and breaking down if the weapon is fired on the full-auto mode. Crystals are expected to work at peak performance for 30 shots over two minutes in standard temperate conditions after which it is recommended to let the crystal cool for 2-3 mins, although it will continue to work for another 50 shots at impaired performance. After this, the modulating crystal is effectively useless, and must be changed out for another crystal. A variety of crystals are available, including the powerful but easily traced visible light crystal, the long ranged but low-powered Microwave crystal, the insidious Gamma and X-Ray crystals, and the standard Infrared crystal. Sony does not accept responsibility for any accidental discharges of the KS10 LSMG, and are not liable for damage caused by misuse of this product.

30+50 shots over two minutes gives 40 shots/minute. I would'nt call that an SMG, more like... A Laser Handgun.

Aha! I got an idea!

I'll just stick 7.62x39mm rounds in the Carbine! It's essentially a Space AK now.

Also: Sony goes into small arms while Colt goes into Household Appliances and minor small arms. What next, Valve making tanks and helicopters?
