Things are pretty tough at home. There's not alot of jobs on Earth, and crime is getting worse every day. It seems the only thing that's going on these days is the War. You hear about it all the time-victories, defeats, advances, retreats all being played on the news every day. The conservative stations trumpet patriotically about the rightness of the cause, while the democratic stations mournfully declare defeat at every turn, and post accurate death tallies of soldiers every night. You don't trust either of them, personally.
You would have been happy to keep working at your mundane job, probably in an office or factory, but things changed. The news doesn't seem to be reporting much anymore. Rumors are something went wrong-that Earthgov lost a whole fleet on some backwater world, and they've been losing contact with everyone sent to investigate. There's nothing on the mainstream, of course, but you dig a little deeper and find out people have been seeing some very weird things. Unexplained, district wide quarantines on various planets. Strange Ships flying in the Outer Rim. Disappearances. Popular public figures fleeing to hideaways with no explanation...and Earthgovs Marine recruitment incentives just got much better...
You joined into this first wave of new recruits-maybe the incentives finally enticed you to leave a dead end job for some 'excitement', or maybe you had a feeling in the back of your mind that Humanity was about to sorely tested, and would need every good man or woman it had to survive. After basic training, they handed you a form and told you to fill out the questions if you wanted to apply to that position. You already filled out something like this before....might as well get started, right?

Applying for a specific position? Indicate which, and answer the questions below that relate to it.
Squad Leader
He leads. Everyone else follows. The success of failure of the mission is on his head.
1. What do think makes you qualified for leadership of a Squad?
2. If you were ordered to fire on non-combat civilians by a higher ranking officer, would you follow his orders?
3. If you had to sacrifice one man to be captured to ensure the success of your mission, would you do so? Captured soldiers are known to be tortured for information, though he knows nothing vital to the interests of EarthGov.
4. Your squad has been encircled. A drop ship extends a rope. But only one of your men will escape. Who do you send up? Yourself, your medic, your Heavy Gunner, your Psion, or your Technician?
5. A previously unknown, non-human sentient race contacts your squad on an scientific mission and invites you on board their vessel. Your given free reign to do whatever you wish about the situation. What do you do?
Heavy Gunner
Skilled with using heavy weapons and utilzing battlefield support such as air and artillery strikes, the Heavy Gunner is vital to a squads success.
1. You squad is heavily outnumbered by enemies attempting to ford a narrow bridge. Do you suggest to try and hold them at the bridge-which will not allow your squad very good cover-, or do you suggest they seek more defensive ground?
2. No matter how you choose, you now have 100 bullets remaining in your auto-cannon. There are still more than four dozen enemies in front of you. Do you shoot defensively in support of your squad, conserving ammunition, or fire everything, destroying as many as you can?
3. Either way, after the last choice, you auto-cannon is now out of ammunition, and your squad is dead. You are the last man remaining. You are encircled. You have a revolver with six shots, and a working radio that allows you to make one last call to command. What do you do?
Technician
A trained Technician, more often referred to as a 'cracker', is highly useful in battle-bypassing security measures, or turning them against their wielders, reprogramming hostile machines and using highly technical battlefield weaponry.
1. A computer you are trying to hack tells you it is sentient, and to continue means to destroy it, which will technically be considered murder. Do you continue?
2. A rare piece of alien technology is found by your squad. The local population contacts you and says it has great religious and social importance to them, and would like to have it back without it having been tampered with. Do you give it back to them?
3. You and your squad are stranded on a desert world without any working technology for you to use and very little food or water. You are the first to fall, laying on your back, your face and chest burning in the hot sun. Is there any reason the other soldiers should help you up, knowing your skills are useless here?
4. You are defusing an explosive planted in the fusion core the Galactic Council station. There has been no time for evacuations. The explosion will claim approximately 2678 lives, including your own. 15 seconds remain until detonation. There are three wires-red, blue and yellow-two of which detonate the bomb instantly, and a third one will defuse it. Which one do you cut?
Medic
A field medic not only patches up his squad mates wounds in the fields, but is certified to collect and test biological samples for further study. He must have an iron nerve and an understanding of triage-saving the ones who can be saved, while allowing others to die for the greatest good.
1. If the cure to a very dangerous disease, that kills thousands of innocents every year, was about to fall into enemy hands-would you destroy it rather than let them have it? Knowing the fact that they would use it for their own ends during the war, but would also eventually release it to the public?
2. Your Squad Leader orders you to save an important VIP, but to do so, you will have allow one of your squad mates to die. Do you follow his orders?
3. An enemy soldier you have wounded in battle asks you for assistance after he has surrendered. He will die unless you help him. The squad he was in killed one of your fellow squad mates, but he might not have been to one to do it. Do you help him?
4. You have a chance to end the war, against a violent race can be easily stopped by releasing a deadly virus upon them. This virus will blight the entire races reproductive properties, possibly resulting in their extinction. Otherwise, the war continues until we win normally, sustaining many more casualties. Do you release this weapon upon their cities?
Psionic Specialist
Most squads have at least one soldier dedicated to using psychic powers in combat-offensively and defensively. Such powers take a toll on the user, and are generally restricted to those who show real potential. They are usually armed with a Psi-Amp to augment and control their powers.
1. You are ordered to invade the mind of an enemy soldier and force him to murder one of his family members, then return control to him, to aid in an interrogation. His family is innocent. He is not. Do you do as you are ordered?
2. Your squad is in a dangerous situation, and must flee from where they are quickly. You have only time to gather one piece of equipment. What do you select? Your weapon, your armor, or your Psi-Amp?
3. An important general is dying in front of you. He has extremely vital information, that can end the war in a month if it gets to EarthGov and save thousands of lives. He is also the enemy, and a War Criminal. The only way to obtain the information is to swap bodies with him, allowing your mind to perish in his body, and his mind to live on in your body. Due to political considerations, he will not be imprisoned for his crimes, and be allowed to live freely. Do you accept his request?
OOC: Accepting 5-10 players, but usually one person to one position-everyone else will become an average soldier, most likely. You can suggest a position I have not listed, and I'll very likely allow you to have it. It will take a day or two to start in any case-I'm just testing the waters for interest right now.
