20th Galena

...I am flabbergasted. I am amazed, and above all, I am just plain WHAT THE FUCK, MAN.

That dog SINGLEHANDEDLY broke the siege.

The beaked wolf-things were cut off of entryways into the fortress, after a near disaster where I missed a second entrance leading directly into the farms. Deprived of their sport, they attempted to kill the lone dog chained at the main entrance.

With snarls and bites, the dog drove them off.

Despite the fact that none of the beak wolves were killed, they fled gibbering into the hills.

This dog is one to watch.

 1st Limestone

The seasons have changed yet again.

Outpacing all my expectations, the miners finished both the bedroom expansion and the new dining room by this date.

With that done, there shall be none to stop me from my ultimate evil plan!

My plan to...

CREATE EXTREMELY ELABORATE CHAMBERS FOR MYSELF MUHUHUHAHAHAHA

*hem*

Right. Anyway, I doubt I can handle this for more than another half year. Some other whippersnapper will have to take over come spring.

And yes, I'm well aware that elaborate chambers are utterly useless to a man who's already bedridden and unable to be moved. That's besides the point.

Just so y'all know, I'm going to feel very, very sad when I unleash my actual trap. I like this fort, and screwing it over is going to be like kicking a small child's teeth out (hilarious and tragic, but mostly hilarious).

However, there are other pressing matters as well. For one thing, absolutely none of our mined hematite or malachite ore is currently accessible. I'll have to carve a tunnel to it so the haulers can bring it closer to our magma-works.

You have me to thank for that :P I punched a hole in the aquifer a few days before handing it off.

That too :D You're welcome.

Man, I'm just glad I didn't really have to deal with the aquifer. Upright spike traps are fine. Beak dogs, bring 'em on. Magma floods, I'll take care of. But I am utterly terrified of aquifers.

I suggest you embark over an aquifer and get yourself through that damn thing already. Once you learn how to it is easy as hell (well, imagine they are all steam demons and you get where I'm going with the analogy). That's what I did.

Man, I wish I'd gotten in on this earlier... No way I would get a turn because this fort's either gonna be dead by the time turn 17 rolls around, or it'd be during the semester and I'll be way too busy then.

Anyways, what I usually do for aquifers: Embark on the edge of one, so you have half biome that isn't aquifer and half that is. All the advantages of infinite water (Dwarven reactor anyone?) and not having to pierce through the aquifer.

I think I'm gonna withdraw from this.
So, Grath, it will be one step further from death, if that encourages you any.

Hmm, too bad. And Grath, might as well sign up. Worst case scenario is that you can't make your turn.

What with the usual fate of succession fortresses, I foresee the doom of this fortress being entirely accidental and unrelated to a deathtrap in any way.

Well, so long as no one's dumb enough to decide to make an unpluggable aquifer leak for their next trap.

What if it INCLUDES an unpluggable aquifer leak, but doesn't damage thr fort itself?

I'm renaming my plans. Project: L.I.R.Q.

I direct you to rule #1.
Code: [Select]
1) Don't kill the fort.
Other than that, go crazy.
