Just so you know, you can actually fly up and actually mine the stars and the moon. Also to the right of the main base if you dig under the tree there's some more stuff.

This is pretty neat. 2011 needs to stop being a great game year, it's making all the other years look bad.

Spoiler was based on what a friend said.  Upon poking around myself I found that it was always there (in fact, if you use the camera to look at the stars you get the message same as if you'd jumped).

Fffff--- Works on wine, but horribly slow. Curses. Well, off to windows temporarily, I suppose.

Terraria, KSP, Dredmor.. Mostly a great year for indies, but great nonetheless, and we still have another 5.5 or so months.

Oh, right Terraria.  KSP, eh.  It's a bit of mindless fun (I did get up to 325,000 meters yesterday; I didn't get them back safely though, I didn't feel like waiting for them to come back down).

Ok, so three games that were amazing.  Er, two games that were amazing, and two that were "pretty good" for a few hours.  In 6 months.  That's not exactly shaping up to be a good year.

2011 has already brought us some fantastic indie games, with a bunch more that look promising in various stages of completion. This game is pretty cool, too.

Which is good, since mainstream gaming has failed me other than Portal 2 this year.

Got to the first layer with Moles, got bored, bought a shitton of megabombs and nuked the moon. And the stars. I think I just fucked up the tides.

Although the game crashed while I was waiting for the resultant fuckton of ore to get to the lab.
Fucking right-side vaccuum bug.

Crysis 2 is awesome. Shogun 2 is more than awesome. Dirt3 is a gem. Frozen Synapse is a grea indie. And we are only talking about PC here, I didn't even mention consoles.

Only because you don't like the genre doesn't mean there weren't any diamonds this year. Hell, there are even giant AAA titles like Battlefield 3 still coming up.

I don't own a console, therefore I can't count them.

Crysis: meh (why would I want to play it?)
Shogun: never played it, no idea
Dirt3: *shrug* not into racing games.
Frozen Synapse: was a great idea but had bad execution.

Atom Zombie Smasher: will have to look it up.  *Looks at steam page* Huh.  Ok, will have to verify if it's any good.
Magicka: fair point, although I never played it.
Sanctum: Not really.  After around wave 10, the player is unimportant (except to kill the creeps that towers don't know to avoid the "I take no damage" hit locations.  And soakers).  By wave 35 me and my friend were like "lets see if we can survive this wave without firing ANY of our guns."  And we did.  The only gun worth firing at that point is the freeze gun, which increases the efficiency of the turrets by 60% (the turrets out DPS players by a factor of four).
Super Meat Boy:  WHY!?  Seriously.  Why did this evolve beyond a flash game and why do people enjoy it so much?  It's a pixel-jumper platformer with shitty control over momentum.

So, i strip mined down to the core. And up to the moon.
Twice

In the end, the easiest way to go is just digging straight down as deep as possible, put conveyor belts at the bottom of the map, scoopers straight up the hole you dug, then buy as many bazooka munitions as possible and shoot everywhere. Then wait half an hour for the minerals to finish loading into the lab.

It was fun for a while but i don't think i'll load the game ever again :p
Has anybody figured out what the teleport vacuum pack does?

yea, when you unload your vacuum cleaner, if you're close enough to it, the minerals go out of the pack instead of out of the robot. Mostly useless though
