It's not a difficult faction to play as, mind you. Just annoying as hell. I cannot recommend a rebel playthrough difficulty-wise. When played correctly you can waltz through the entire east in no time, and having Egypt + Jerusalem on no-riot mode (Rebel cities can not rebel, even with 100000 people in it) you'll curbstomp the entire world easily.

My RTW is on Steam.  Any idea on how I can edit the game from there?

Should be in your steam folder, under steamapps and common.

Stworca, you really are a god of shock and awe tactics.  A few questions:

1. At what distance should you use warcry?  When you're about to charge, or will it work at further distances?

2. How in the name of [insertdeityhere] do you manage to encircle a single regiment fast enough?  For example, I've got two regiments, vs one regiment, we all have the same units.  Usually, I send my two regiments to charge them, then try to get one of the two regiments to run around and flank them, but this is just to slow.  Any tips?  ( This entanglement issue also applies with mass cavalry charges, I can't get my equites to pull back fast enough. )

3. Do javelin units inflict more morale damage than, say, hastati?  If so, I'd best start recruiting more velites.

Stworca, you are the first person to show RTW battle tactics in an (somewhat) easy to understand format.  I really need all the help I can get on this stuff, I have trouble going after Gaul, on normal mode.

I can answer the last one NRDL but your question is kind of vague in someways.

If I'm correct instead of hiring velites you might as well hire Illyrian mercenaries, they're in greece, are easy and cheap to hire and I've held entire forts with them. Mercenary peltasts are just bad. Overall you're better using slingers or archers.

Also, Hastati have much better melee capabilities than Velites. Gaul are quite easy though if they use warbands.

Ranged attackers like velites, do they have better morale destroying capabilities than hastati?  I'm playing as Julii, so I really need to know the specific units.  However, the Illyrian mercenaries might look promising, I'll look into them.

You should limit the use of jevelinmen to minimum. I use them, because Spain doesn't have any archers and slingers (crap when compared to archers) are a high tier unit which we can only make in Carthage.
The only worthwhile javelin-only unit are the Greek Heavy Peltasts, who are decent in melee. Aside from that, i'd take an extra principes unit over velites always.

As Spain i play with the armies i have, not the ones i want.

Warcry takes 3-5 seconds to take effect. The attack bonus lasts 10 seconds. The morale bonus lasts 30.

Have them advance apart, away from each other. Try encircling the enemy as much as possible BEFORE the first hit takes place. Preparations win the battles very often.

In the next update :

- Marian Reforms (At least i think so.. Is Cav Auxilla a post-reform unit?)
- SPQR + Scipii Army and "Snowflake in Vulcan's Forge" (450 "Roman Armored General Bodyguards", the most powerful cav in the game)
- Julii campaign AI is THE most retarded AI ever made (remember the rebel cities just north of them? Yeah.. They remain rebel cities for 5 turns already.. It annoys me to no end, and thus i won't wait too long.)
- Getting rid of factions left and right (guess which ones?)

Stay tuned. The end draws near.

Pretty sure cav auxilia are the missile cav before reforms.
Also I'm guessing Carthage, gaul if you haven't already, Numidia and possibly SPQR.

I can confirm Cavalry Auxilia are before reforms, but they are a relatively high tier unit for the roman factions. Possibly within one or two upgrades to reforms, possibly less.
