Capua was captured by our glorious forces. Some casualties have healed, some units appear to have only routed, instead of being wiped out.. AND we have a fresh unit of mercenary hoplites! God damn you! If i had them during the battle...!
At any rate, we don't want Capua, and will leave it for some Roman faction to take (making it stronger in the process)
I was tempted to wipe out SPQR and take Rome too, but They tend to make elite, general heavy armies and participate in 1v2 battles often. We'll have some fun with SPQR later on.
Upon arrival on Sicily, we get even more useful mercenaries, and begin siege of Messana. No army will come to their aid, no significant force is defending the city. It will fall.
We had more enemies though, did we not? Aye, we fight with every faction that has borders with us, and then some.
But the German front is strong, in our favor.
Turn ends.. and Lepcis Magna gives up. Meaning : Carthage is eliminated, and we've won.
We will continue playing though. Egypt, Marian Reforms and Asia should be pretty fun as Spain. We're actually losing battles, unlike Armenia.
I just want to get rid of the crappy factions, such as Germany. (They are a very strong faction, mind you, but AI is terrible at directing hoplites and berserkers)
At any rate : Messana falls, and the last two Scipii cities are sieged at the same time.
We have also captured Mogo..bla..bla.. das German city.
Britons are about to get our special surprise too. (You seeing this, Bergfreude?)
5 Bull Warriors, 2 generals, 2 long shield and some other good units. Backed up by tons of replaceable, terrible mercenaries.
Also, another army is assembling back at Spain. This has caused me to boost Julii and Brutii some more (series of process_cq on their cities) I need to replace my stables with the tier 2 version though. Round Shield cav has become nearly useless.
We have a painful lack of Generals in Germany, but there are some pathetic 1 peasant or wounded warband forces scattered around us. Thus we send skirmishers in all directions.. and get fresh meat! (good general, this one)
And a slightly worse, but still good second. (one skirmisher group was killed in the making of this general)
Anyhow.. It's time to deal the final blow to our beloved Scipii (who, as you perhaps remember, went for Spain right away, skipping Carthage!)
Lilybaeum is infiltrated by our only two spies (Aye, we only have two) but for once their 32% total has scored. Gates are down.
The city falls, as it should be.
Then we proceed with the siege of Scipii last stand : Syracuse.
We outnumber them 4 to 1 and have hoplites. Piece of cake. (except if i autobattled it we would lose 1400 men) It had stone walls though, so a bit more painful than i'd wish.
The Oracle has foretold, that should Scipii live for another 50 years, They would destroy us (see update 7)
Thus we cheat death, and..
It had to be done. The less Roman Factions have to share Roman provinces, the stronger They will be.. Although those retarded Julii STILL haven't taken the independant provinces i've left them in ex-gaul..
Syracuse is the second Stone-Wall city we've captured. I'm still tempted to drop the entire region of Sicily, but i'll do it only after Romans take Capua and Gaul provinces back.
Our cities sit at 0 happiness though.. So i am forced to move our Capital to Carthage. The German, Spanish and French provinces don't have the "Culture Penalty" though, so i doubt we'll see too many revolts any time soon.
I hit end turn and.. FINALLY Capua revolts. It was sitting on 0% for.. 3 or 4 turns? With no garrison whatsoever. Please, Romans, PLEASE, capture the city.
This.. hmm..
Perhaps Brutii will be the ones to grow, and not the Julii? War with Macedon will be a tough one for them though. But if we help them.. I'll think about it.
Our tower-building scout in Africa has uncovered Numidian Faction leader.. What the hell is he doing here, i wonder? Hopefully i'll manage to wipe them out, and let Egypt capture their provinces. But i have no idea how well is it going for Egypt..
German AI insults even the barbarian intelligence. Approaching my armies with groups of 4 units will -SURELY- work well for them..
The next City we siege is a manure covered sewer, but when going for world domination, one has to capture London as well..
Now i have a question for you, viewers. For some reason my Ambush party can not hide in the world map woods. Can someone explain this? Is it the Scutarii unit?
A quick look at our income tell us, that we're not going anywhere, any time soon, and our army build up has stopped. (2700 clear income, without building anything, anywhere.. that's bad if you consider we control 1/4 of the world map)
I spot a peasant-infested indie city, just north of Italy, and decide to capture it. If only to attract Roman attention and force them to FINALLY capture something.
Also : We are able to buy the first unit of truly elite mercenaries. Bastarnae may have very low stats, but they have decent attack, warcry and 2 hp. Thracian Bastarnae are much better, but mercs are still very strong.
No matter how bad our income may be, i will be buying mercs like these! (Also Hoplites and Cretan archers.. mm... cretan archers *fap fap*)
In Numantia we begin training our first Assassin. First of many, i hope. (I'm not going to name him after the player, because he may die in his first mission. Also : Aye, i haven't really pushed for general naming etc. but this is not a RP let's play!)
I place my army in the middle of all the small German stacks, hoping that they unite and we'll have a nice battle.
We suffer our second naval defeat (As barbarians you -really- have to outnumber enemy ships at least 2-1 to have any chance of success. That's the bad thing)
German turn.. Let's see what They.. Ok, They merged SOMETHING, but are still fools for not using all their troops at once. The AI really disappoints me in this campaign. As Armenia they at least used full stacks...
Oh well.. see you in the next update!
