The Life of Stibus
« on: July 13, 2011, 01:14:14 am »

Here, in full, is the life of Stibus, "Stibus," the kobold.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

This is what happens when you allow kobolds to live. These are the guys you aren't mauling with your dogs or caging up for practice. These are the... rather boring kobolds.

I bet among his peers the guy was a frigging hero.
Escaping with his life time after time when horrible monsters attacked him.

Or he was ostracized because he had a tendency to draw horrible monsters to him.

It all seemed to go away once he got married though, but no, not even getting past middle-age would go easy for poor Stibus.

What is it with Uja going after him twice anyway?

His peers were too busy with the guy who had almost five pages of stolen items. That's the kind of kobold whose blood is washed off of fortress walls in the next rain.

And maybe Uja wanted revenge, a sort of finishing to what had begun. It was still failed, though. Old age was all that could kill Stibus (must have been a fast runner).

Obviously he was the distraction kobold. You know, the one all your soldiers start chasing and leave the fort wide open for snatchers, thieves, ambushers and giant cave horrors.

Quick legs are a good trait in a kobold. His young'ns will do well.

Also, I do note that he even seemed to survive  26 years of retirement, in a species where 'retired' is a polite way of telling the egglings that daddy got a pick lodged in his frontal lobe.

Also note that he survived his entire family AND that his daughter was killed in 107, presumably by Uja. It really had a grudge or something with this poor fella's family, it seems.

Dying of old age for a kobold is worthy of a artifact candy coffin.

Uja Deathphantom the Dead Skull of Tunnels absolutely detests Stibuses.

I didn't know kobolds could live to 160 years old. Probably because they always die too fast.

That's actually impressive, you've found the Rincewind of Kobolds - a champion coward survivalist.

Does this means the generic name for a cutebold is Stibus?

Anyway, that was one badass kobold, to have survived so long.

I dug around him slightly more. Looks like his kids inherited his cowardice survival instincts. His son didn't inherit his fast feet, though. Killed in his third encounter. Daughter was pretty successful at being unsuccessful, nearly as much so as her father.

His wife's life sucked. Here it is:

Not quite so easy a name, either.

Sa-fa-da-go-gin ... pretty easy to say, I'd say. :D

And yeah, she had it worse.  Getting her head ripped open at 46 yo and then eaten by a troll at 59.  Still, for your average kobold (from a dwarf point of view, at least) she lead a pretty long life.

So did the bloodline of Stibus end with his daughter's death, or did she get married and have kids?
