Also have some of the scouts explore the landmass that we're on. And dismantle 2-3 of the ships.

What exactly did you guys mean by head northeast?

Did you want to start building houses|farms, harvest any resources or just explore?

Month 1:

The combination of cold weather and cramped poor living conditions has taken a modest toll on the morale of the colony.

Construction of farms for food has progressed steadily as nearly everyone contributes effort. 13 farms have been built in the fertile land north west of the ship.

Some of the sailors and guards put effort into disassembling a few ships, but only managed to get one this month.

One of the 4 ships has been disassembled for its wood, sail and cordage.

The colonies scouts have had tremendous success and covered more land than you would have expected considering the difficulty of the terrain encountered. To the east of the farmland the hills grow into mountains and an good site for a quarry has been identified. To the north of the farmland they have discovered the source of the stream in a cave nestled among lightly forested hills. The cave is mostly flooded and only explored as far as the scouts could go without swimming. To the northwest more plains have been sighted.

Fortunately it looks like the weather is warming up and you won't have to worry about the cold again until winter.

Note: you can substitute cloth material for much of the wood if building primitive housing, it would be more of a tent than a shack.

Get all of the farms staffed, send  half of the colonists and half of the guards cutting wood. The rest of the colonists start building modest houses to the northeast of the farms.

Scouts continue scouting and the sailors contine with the ship dismantlement.

Let's make a rudmentary bridge across that river, and start building Homes in the Hills. It will be much easier to defend once we get a decent wall up. Might want to send people to survey for a proper building site.

We need to establish a quarry in the hills. Our people need sturdy housing, and the foundations for the Temple need to be laid. Once the growing season is well established, we can use the stone to construct irrigation canals.

Without a consensus I will move things along by splitting the difference. Note that last month the ship should have given an extra 10 wood

Note on construction: each colonist produces about 1 unit of construction per month. So 10 colonists can typically build a building with 10 materials in one month. Carpenters get a bonus if they are working with wood, masons get a bonus if they are working with stone, any use of tools provides a similar bonus.
Deconstruction is currently fudged, no rule exists for it, so I am using 10 units of construction as an estimate.

The group of scouts headed west spotting more plains to the north west and discovering a much more dense expanse of forest that borders on swamps to the south. While exploring this area they found enough game to sustain themselves without dipping into the colonies stores. Hunting in this area appears to be better than any of the other areas discovered so far.

Under Rahotep 10 carpenters with hammers put in an amazing effort and finish the bridge in a single month.

26 untrained colonists begin work on the farms and produce an average haul of 67 grain and vegetables.

Thamos leads 17 colonists begin the construction of modest housing on the plains near the farm, they get 2 homes built to house 10 colonists.

Setos and Harnki lead the 10 guards, 10 sailors and 2 untrained colonists with picks to the mine site and begins construction, due to inexperience and small numbers progress on the mine is limited (1/3 completed).

Events
Build 2 modest houses (-20 wood)
Build 1 bridge (-20 wood)
Build 1/3 quarry (-20 wood)
deconstructed 0.2 ship (+10 wood adjusted for last months error)
eating (-95 food)
farming(+67 food)

It is late spring.
Next contact with parent civilization is scheduled for early autumn.

55 colonists
5 scouts
10 guards
10 carpenters
16 sailors
Captain Rahotep: Sailor, General, Diplomat
Captain Thamos: Architect, Builder, Sailor
Captain Setos: Sailor, priest(death)
Captain Harnki: sailor, warrior, strategist

Landing Site:
Buildings (3/20)
Meeting Tent
3 beached boats (can be deconstructed for +50 wood and +15 cloth each)

Stocks (?I can add later?/1000)
254 food (~7.5 months on current farms)
75 wood
15 cloth
10 axes
10 hammers
10 bows
10 spears
10 picks

Farming Site (2 tiles N-NE of Landing Site):
Buildings (14/20)
13 food farms
Bridge to hills

Plains Site
Buildings (2/20)
2 modest homes

Morale: 86%

Build more farms at the farm site, continue scouting, chop some wood from the northern forest and continue farming.

Farming went about as well as expected, and produced 63 food.

Under captain Thamos, 10 carpenters with hammers with the help of 10 unskilled colonists with picks build 6 farms at the farming site, taking up all the space available. With this many farms, you are nearly at a break even point until the end of the growing season.

The remaining 19 colonists, 16 sailors and 10 guards as well as the other three captains take off on a woodcutting expedition armed with the axes. Combined, they harvested 67 units of wood.

The scouts take advantage of the good weather and open plains to scout far to the north east. They have found the far side of the island and located some hills that contain copper and tin along the sea. They also note that while camped on the shore they spotted lights farther out on the water but could not determine its exact source.

Before the final cold nights of spring, some of the colonists come down with fever from exposure and poor living conditions. 3 colonists and 2 sailors will be unavailable for work next month as they recover. Discontent continues to grow as the housing shortage continues.

Continue building modest houses on the townsite, and keep harvesting wood and food. Scouts scout as always.

Is it possible to carve out cliff dwellings in the hills? That should free up some stone, and be easier to construct.

We could do that near the quarry site, It'll improve the efficientcy of the miners knowing they don't have to wander a fair distance to get to home from the dig site.

I'll allow it, Digging in could reduce the material cost of housing, but increase the labor required to build.
