I have a weird compulsion.  I become extremely disconcerted when a door is left open.  I can't relax until it's shut.  I don't feel like someone's behind it or anything like that, there's no face to the anxiety.  I just feel like things aren't right.

I think everyone has a preference for closed or open doors, actually.  Introverts prefer doors to be closed, and extroverts prefer them to be open.  This is a constant struggle for me at home.  I can't completely focus on something unless the door to the room is closed, because I feel like my awareness fills the space that I'm in and an open door creates a void that sucks it all away.  Part of me will always be outside that door.  My wife feels like every closed door is hiding something from her, and she can't stand it.  She needs an unbroken openness to her entire living space, or she will agonize over wondering what is going on behind those closed doors and a desire to have the door closed arouses suspicion.

I hate open doors because they are a vulnerability. I can't stop thinking about the risks an open door causes whenever I'm in a room with one. I have to have it closed lest someone sneak up on me, for whatever reason they might have for doing so.

I would probably like a closed door if I had a door to my "room".

I think this pretty well describes it.  There's a little bit of the typical "introverts are so focused and deep" talk in there, but the description of why and how much it means to have a closed door and personal space is pretty agreeable to me.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Misophonia I have this, though I only recently learned what it's called. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rlWHLx9PTE4 Here's a friendly little portrayal, haha. I've wanted to hit people, throw things, run away, anything to get away from or stop trigger sounds. Snoring is the biggest one for me, so I guess the worst is when I kicked my brother in the stomach when I was little. My whole family thought I was demonically possessed or something, psychologists suggested I might be autistic (not even slightly), and school lunch and road trips were hell at times.

Have since learned to control my reactions to it, and that eating crunchy stuff when other people are helps somewhat, but it's almost overpowering.

On the topic of doors, I don't really care either way, I do like my door closed, but I can't stand doors that are in between.
I have to shut them fully, or open them to the wall.

I have most of my coworkers' network passwords and I read their emails.

I like my doors closed but alas, that won't work because I have a network cable going through one of them, and the other's broken :V

I really like to do things in multiples of four. If it's something involving left and right, I try to do it in the patter LRRL of RLLR to avoid being unbalanced.

Also, if I count something once (e.g. stairs), then every time I use that thing agin I'll count it again.

1: I go berserk when I get into a real fight. No pain, no rational thought (or any thinking at all really), hardly any memory of the incident or what lead up to it, tunnel vision, ect.

This happens to me, too. It has always confused me.

I must lose all my memory because I don't ever remember getting into any fights.  Oh dear.

Well I'll be damned. I have that too, but I never knew it had a clinical name. Conversation is a common trigger for me. If we're out to dinner somewhere, I wind up hearing EVERYONE'S conversation within hearing range, and my mind can't filter out the ones I don't want to pay attention to. It's maddening.

Most probably shouldn't be posted here, but a harmless, repeated one: I tend to need to fiddle around with some small object, tap my feet or fingers, etc., whenever I'm not concentrating on something important to me, and I always have to be sure to do whatever it is perfectly symmetrical, e.g. I tap my right foot twice soft and slow, then five times fast, and I have to repeat the exact same pattern with my left foot or it will start bugging me. So it isn't actually a compulsion, it just doesn't sit right with me if I don't, as if the universe were suddenly out of order, and will usually go away once I start paying attention to anything.
Same thing here. I'm also obsessed with even numbers. I can't eat 1 or 5 or 3 cookies or grapes or Oreos or whatever, it has to be an even number. I consciously realize that this is silly, but I do it anyway. It carries over to games too, 11 tanks? FUCK NO, I'LL WAIT FOR ANOTHER ONE BEFORE I ATTACK.

Maybe it's parasitic. It never loses its flavor because you eventually die from having your nutrients stolen by it.
