I did like the idea, pitched earlier, about a beginner third party game with an SK or jester.  Seems like it would be a handy thing to teach new players about.

I think a sort of BM with a Survivor or a Jester would be doable. SK's are a total different level of fuck to be viable for a BM.

Of course if we do something like that, fucking dibs.

...Eh.  I think once you're learning about third parties, you're no longer really a beginner.  The "advanced" games here tend to be marked as such.  The intermediate games tend to just have simple third parties like Survivor and SK.

BTW, will it be okay if I throw in a survivor and a miller under the normal 'extra roles' rules (i.e. 50% chance of appearing) in the next BM?

And I'd say no, those are not okay to add to a BM. BMs are mostly to provide them an environment without such complicatoins.

But why is miller considered a complication while godfather, who has a very similar role, isn't?

If you have godfather but no millers, you CAN'T be sure that a town result makes confirmed town, but you CAN be sure a Mafia result is scum.

Millers ruin the "Mafia" result's reliability.

I'm going to have to agree that a beginner's bastard game wouldn't really be productive. The whole point of a beginner's game is Help I Don't Know How To Play Mafia, whereas the point of a bastard game is the mod laughing at you. The two don't really go well together.


I'd also like to say that a survivor in a beginner's game would probably be pretty bad. Whoever got it wouldn't know what the hell to do, and so either claim immediately and stop playing, pretend they were town and start playing as such, or just halfass it and get lynched.

Yea, not a fan of the survivor idea.
I would, however, like to see a 50% chance of a miller turning up. It forces the players to evaluate somebody that has had a guilty inspect result, something you need to think about in most real games.

Also, who is taking care of the next BM?

You're probably right... Well, survivor idea goes to trash bin.

No Millers. The Beginner Mafia standard has been pretty good so far, so adding more is NOT a good thing. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Now, if you wanna do a gametype outside of Beginner Mafia, then sure. Go ahead. You can have a Miller and a Survivor in that, but do not screw around with the BM gametype as it is now.

Don't worry, I wasn't trying to take it from you, I was just wondering who would look after the newbies who arn't ready to leave the next come the end of this game. Be good to them Dariush, and bitch slap anybody that gives you lip.

I have plans to host my own real game come next iteration, and it is going to be labour intensive, so no time for BM.
