I just ran the last one, but if no one is biting within a week-ish then I suppose I'll put one up.

I can start one saturday, if needed. Got some stuff to deal with before that.

Double post, but...

Should the next BM still include the old OP, despite the consensus that it is outdated? If not, should we decide on a new BM OP before the next one starts?

I highly doubt that we can create a completely new OP in any reasonable amount of time.

Its probably easiest if every new mod updates it a little.

If you're running the BM, just use your discretion with recrafting the OP.

One of these days I'd like to try a forum mafia. Of course, I've got a bunch of real-life problems upcoming that would interfere with a game of that activity requirement, so I'll check back here in a few weeks.

Would you like to play a game of Mafia? The subforum is always open to new players.

Really need an IC for the BM. I've had the player list fill out except for one IC twice now.

I'm pretty interested, is this sort of like Town of Salem? If so, interested, if not, yeah I'm still interested.

It's pretty similar to Town of Salem. A pretty big difference is there are no Last Wills, Death Notes, or private communication between players other than mafia (depending on the type of Mafia you're playing.)

I've played some mafia.

Or innocent/guilty vote at end-of-day. Since days last longer than 60 seconds, the people who voted on a lynch target are usually pretty sure.
And the vote doesn't require a majority; A majority is what we call "hammer", and games that include a hammer rule end the day when it happens, like ToS, but it's an exception for a game to have the hammer rule.

The underpinning mechanisms are the same, though. All players discuss who the guilty parties are, vote to kill someone, and hope that their team gets victory that way. Even the faction win-conditions are (usually) the same.

Not being automated like ToSalem is, there's more variety to the set-ups we play here, and we're big on discussion, but it's similar enough that I have no doubts you could do well. Especially in a beginner's mafia, where there are no unpleasant surprises.

And the fact that, you know, day phases last 3-7 real time days.  The whole game can potentially run over a month.

That kind of scares off a few people.
