You are Space Pirate!
« on: July 12, 2011, 02:02:48 am »

(Alright for the time being this is my new second priority project. It is a basic you are a _____ game, heavily inspired by Vent's gnome game. Don't expect updates to be too frequent. Also yes, I did get some high fantasy in your space opera, you are welcome.)

---

An explosion rocks the spotless white ship in front of you. "Negative. You only hit the hull. Remember we are not shooting to kill here." declares a voice in your ear.

You throttle back and do a loop to take another pass while wondering exactly what your prey is. It is clad with expensive top of the line stealth generators: You would have never found it if it didn't transmit an encrypted message within two kilometers of your small craft. It's only armament is a front mounted cannon, which you can easily avoid.

Pulling out of the loop-de-loop you get another look at the target and spot docking bays. It is a carrier! A small box of antennas and wires near the bridge is highlighted on your cockpit view screen. "10 seconds till you have a lock on the enemy comp protection box." The voice informs you. You gulp and place your thumb over the trigger. In the back of your mind you know that your prey could launch it's fighters at any time. You had better make this shot count.

After what feels like an eternity your red target turns blue and you squeeze the trigger. A rocket bursts foward and strikes the small box, blowing it to smitherines! "Comp protection box destroyed. I will have control of their ship in approximately 30 seconds!" Your personal AI anounces with a rare hint of joy in it's voice.

You lean back in your seat and take a deep breath. You, a rookie space pirate, have just captured a small carrier on your first ever hunt with nothing more than your personal craft! You reach under your seat and begin to dig around for that bottle of champagne... Suddenly you are alerted by a loud alarm. In your jubilation you had just allowed yourself to drift into the ennemies cannon range, and your AI still needs time to seize the ship. Thumb sized metal projectiles begin to peirce through you and your craft, and all goes black...

---

You open your eyes and find yourself in some sort of empty medical bay, strapped to a bed. You open your mouth and offer a loud 'hello' to whoever may hear.

"Hello. I see your up. That happened a bit sooner than expected. Welcome to the WORC3, the fruit of our victory. Glad to see you lived to enjoy it. I was worried about you for a second." Responds the disembodied voice of your personal AI.

You shake your head, you vaguely remember firing on some sort of ship... "Can I have a medical report please?" you ask.

"Roger that. You were struck by 7 rounds of cannon fire, 4 to the Torso and 3 to the right arm. The good news is this medical bay is equipped to grow human organs, so you are the proud owner of a new liver, large intestine, and right lung. The bad news is we had to amputate your dominate right arm. The cut was clean and the stub is ready for a proper bionic or organic replacement as soon as you purchase one."

You spare a quick glance at your badly hurting right arm and sure enough find it missing. Phantom pain. You spend several minutes cursing before your AI decides to cheer you up with some more good news. "I think all the damage is fixed. I will let you up now. There is a pressing matter in the brig. The old owners left a prisoner when they evacuated. He hasn't been fed or watered for 3 days while you were out."

The restraints on your bed undo themselves and you jump to your feet. Your AI sets some green arrows on the floor to direct you, and you eventually reach a cramped and dark hallway with two steel barred cells, one occupied. You introduce yourself as a space pirate who has captured this vessel. The prisoner quickly announces that he/she is willing to serve you if you let him/her out. You agree and order your AI to open the cell door.

Your new ally explains that this ship is a surveillance and recon carrier owned by White Out, the chief intelligence agency of The State of Mastro, the local system wide government. He/She gives you a quick rundown of the ship and it's specs...

"Well" the recently released captive asks you "what the hell is your name, and what do you want to do now?

"My name is Charlet, Kobold, and quite frankly I have no clue what I want to do at the moment. My brain is a little frazzled on account of being out cold for three days." You answer with a shrug. "I'm guessing you have not eaten in awhile. Lets do that."

The pair of you quickly locate the food storage in the living quarters and gorge yourself on a small feast of packaged military rations. Donnobaba then suguests that you search the ship for anything useful.

You spend the next several hours dashing about and taking inventory, asking Athena to log everything you find. During the search Donnobaba finds her personal belongings in an unlocked cabinet. You find a weapons locker with enough firepower to arm a full crew of 8, you claim a set of weapons for yourself noting that you can only properly use the pistol until you get a replacement arm. Donnobaba feels uncomfortable using anything larger than a pistol herself.

I think we should repair our ships and replace the arm. I suppose we need to land to repair the WORC3, but can we repair the Class-A with the spare parts? Can we replace the Comp protection box?
Look at the small craft in the docking bay.

Rename the ship into 'The tettix'.

Also, outpost may be a good place to get a new arm, and then we could go to Fritz.

You decide to name your new flagship 'The Tettix'. Athena makes a note and changes all references to the ship's name on file. You are not quite sure how to fix a Comp Protection box but Donnobaba ensures you that she can personally ward off cyber attacks until you get it fixed or replaced.

You head to the docking bay and examine the three craft there. The sight of the first almost makes you want to close your eyes. It is your precious Class-A luxuary sportscraft in a state of utter ruin. You are no mechanic but you can tell that the hull is ripped to shreds and your irreplaceable seat, made from the leather of a now extinct animal, is basically destroyed. The spare parts appear to belong to the other two craft in the docking bay, you do not feel skilled enough to safely adapt them to fit your baby.

You examine the two other craft, they are sleek in design and painted a snow white. You cannot gain anything else from examining the outside of the vessels so you try one of the starter chips you found while taking inventory. One craft powers up and you hop in the cockpit and quickly look over the specs. It appears to be an unarmed surveillance ship, equipped with high powered cameras and deploy-able camera drones. The engines are powerful enough to keep pace with a military fighter and it comes equipped with a small stealth generator. You dig through the menus and find that these craft are prototypes with no proper model names.

You pause for a moment to think about where you could repair a stolen government ship. The shadowy dockyards on the moons of Queen-Anne ask to questions, but they would demand cash up front and your assets are currently frozen. You could probably sell off on or both of the prototype stealth craft to pay for repairs.

The Sons of Zeus, a local human supremacy criminal gang that you used to launder money for, have great mechanics and they would likely fix you up for free. They might even have work for you. Donnobaba could be an issue however as they don't particularly care for non-humans. The sons of Zeus operate off of the moons of planet Skids.

You order Athena to set course for Outpost to purchase a new arm, but order her to slow down when you approach Queen-Anne as you might want to stop there or at Skids first.

As you fly you listen in on several frequencies trying to pick up on events across the system.

That sort of altruism seems out of character for Charlet.

Stop at Queen-Anne to sell a surveillance and get the ship fixed.
