Been enjoying this game for the last week.

Yesterday I had my first successful mun touchdown! I was so pleased with myself. ;-)

Unfortunately I ran out of fuel on the way back to Kerbal. >< I was able to get quite a lot of science transmitted though, letting me build a better rocket with fuel lines for more efficient booster stage usage. Worked like a charm, landed on the Mun with a full tank. Then I screwed up somehow by pressing space while getting in and out of my ship for transmitting EVA data, separating my lander from the tank! I didn't realise, and pressed quick save, stranding my Kerbal on the mun surface.

So I thought, damnit! I'm going to rescue this little guy. I had him send all the science I could muster, just enough to invest in the three seater lander. After a few failed experiments I came up with a way of getting a powerful enough set up to send it to the mun. Two pilots, one seat free for the return. I bring it in right over the landing site, and just as I land.. out of fuel. So now I have three guys stuck up there! I'm thinking of just giving up and calling it "moon base alpha".

Just interested in how campaign mode will develop. Building rockets is interesting, but I like the challenge of gradually expanding my options and developing in a game like manner. I am guessing that at some point budgets will come into play forcing us to actually not waste ships but to be as careful as possible? I wonder though about Kerbal lives. What kind of ramifications might there be in the future for continually getting your kerbals killed on half-baked missions?

I am noticing a very nice performance increase, even using a bunch of mods.

They upgraded to Unity 4.22.

and compressed textures, which I think has the larger impact.

I'm liking the new science approach. Less grinding, and more of a challenge and planning ahead (ok, I'm going to encounter X un-goo'd biomes so I should take X goo canisters).

Internet is being annoying, KSP_data/Sharedassets5.assets doesn't want to download.
Excuse me while I bash my head in rage waiting for a small file to download.

EDIT: THIS ONE FILE HAS BEEN TAKING OVER AN HOUR TO DOWNLOAD. EVERY OTHER FILE WORKED FINE. SO IS EVERY WEBSITE. BUT THIS ONE LITTLE FILE IS PULLING A SCARED TURTLE. AAAAAAAAAAAAARGH.

To be fair, that file is roughly 333MB. Yes, it shouldn't take that long, but compared to the other .assets files it's pretty large. sharedassets2.assets is the second largest at 85MB for reference. I was trying to upload my copy to dropbox, but it's going to take longer than I have left at work.

Yep, I've downloaded files bigger than that in about 10 minutes.

The launcher disconnected after another 20 minutes.
Shared assets 5 was at 25% after that.
