Dead leader still in charge?
« on: May 23, 2007, 01:04:00 pm »

I captured the gobling macelord leader with a cage trap about a year ago (game time), it took me 6 months to set up a small duel area and teach him how to swordswallow...err, die.

Now I'm under siege again, half a year past his death. This is the 2nd siege since his capture, first since his death. I check the civ's screen and he is still in charge.

Does he just remain there till they find a new leader or is this a bug?

no, those seiges keep coming.  the name of their leader does not change for the lifetime of your current fort.

i dont know if that goblin civ leader changes after you start a new fort, or in adventure mode.  worth checking on.

also, i dont know what happens if you kill a dwarf king.  i'll have to reload Sigunlokum and try it.  usually, nobles are replaced with the next wave of migrants.  if the king is replaced, it might or might not update the civ list.

also, i'm curious to see who the king of that dwarf civ is from adventure mode, since i too-deeped the fortress with the king in it.

Yeah, sieges must keep coming, I just fought my first siege after their leaders death.

Oh well, I was under the impression that they'd get a new one after some time. Thanks.

I recently too-deeped a fortress and then started adventure mode under the same civilization that my fortress was from. When I talked to people from my civilization, they indicated they currently had no ruler. I forget the exact wording, but it was along those lines.

I was playing a couple weeks ago and the first group of goblin snatchers ate it on some weapon traps and later I see one of them blinking in the refuse pile.  Read his name, Master Thief.  Check the Civ screen, and it was the goblin leader that was the first to die on a stupid stone trap.

Sieges started up next summer, that game was brutal.  Two of three sieges came right on top of the human caravan, my road was total carnage.

It doesn't handle leadership changes at all right now.  I haven't gotten there yet.  It'll be around the time I do the Life Cycles arc.

Iz coo'. I just thought I had read posts about gobbies getting a new leader somewhere.  Perhaps they had abandonded and started another fortress near the same civ, or maybe just I *thought* I read it.

I can live with him dead, and I feel very content about having him executed in a duel rather than flooding him.
