There is of course the potential of just sleeping naked, but it almost never gets hot enough in North Carolina to warrant that.
I'd have to disagree on that. Actually, it's always hot enough if you just pile a few quilts on the bed.
....well, obviously it will be enough if you try to give yourself heatstroke in your sleep.

I actually always wear pajamas to bed. They're super comfy, so much so I don't even change out of them sometimes and just wear them all day. I like pink ones.

What do you wear when you go to sleep?
Underwear. I've never understood why anyone would want to wear anything more.
This, I'd go completely naked too if I didn't have to share my room.

Herein lies the quandry: It's tough to sleep in clothes, because I toss and turn like a dervish at night and I get tangled up in loose clothing. But I get cold easily and I just don't feel sufficiently "protected" unless I have tangible amounts of fabric over me. Like, a blanket or two at minimum. I like to burrow down into the covers like a goddamned gerbil.

So you wind up with a situation where I'm curled up naked in a den of quilts and pillows, but because my body temp runs high when I sleep, I also have to have the ceiling fan on full speed or else I wake up soaked in sweat.

...I'd never really thought about how f**ked up my sleeping arrangements are until now.  :-\

Bowties are always creepy.
Bowties are cool.

I tend to sleep in whatever I was wearing around the house. But I'm strange in that regard as I've got clothes that exist solely for that purpose. So it's usually either shorts and a tshirt or sweat pants and a tshirt. :/

Wow, I appear to be one of the few people on this forum who do wear pajamas to bed.

Mostly because they're comfy and easy to wear.

Pajamas at winter.

Shorts and t-shirt at summer. Sometimes when it's very hot, only shorts.

ACU's, normally. It makes getting up in the morning slightly easier. Normally, I go down to the pants and tan t-shirt. I usually keep my pistol on in it's dropped hip holster, although I like to loosen the belt a little. If the AC is blowing hot air (as opposed to simply not working) I might go down to boxers and the tan t-shirt. Once in a very blue moon, I might be found in PT trunks and a long, loose PT shirt or PT sweatpants.

This is like the third thread this week that starts with, "I heard Americans do this thing that I don't, why is that?"  It wouldn't be quite so weird if they weren't utterly mundane things that I know for a fact aren't exclusive to Americans anyway.

And for the record, I have never met anyone who wears dedicated pajamas.

Back before I left America, I wore lounge pants pretty heavily. Often for whole days, honestly.

I'm wearing my classic mountain dew pajama bottoms right now.  I love wearing pajamas and wish public places would accept them.  The moment I get home and have nothing to do I switch instantly.  It's just so comfortable.

EDIT:
I switch between my two pairs currently.  My green one and my black one.

I'm wearing my classic mountain dew pajama bottoms right now.

Oh God, I had some of those.  My grandmother does all of gift shopping at the Dollar Store, so I had a complete collection of pajama pants, including Guinness, Frosted Flakes, the Simpsons, Top Gun, and Mountain Dew.  They all go to the charity bin every time, fresh off the shelf.

I do wear sweatpants a lot, but those are universal.

As a Brit: I wear my boxers or nothing at all.

The only people I've known to wear (or at least as often as this tidbit comes up in casual conversation) any more than their pants (underwear to those who don't speak the Queens) in bed were a few women who wore nighties.

I wear pyjamas.  Because I find them more comfortable somehow.  Plus it's helpful for when I'm wandering around at night when I visit friends/ family/ whatever.

Also, I hadn't realised pyjamas was the British way of spelling it, huh.
