is there a 2d graphical layer over it somwwhere?

seems liek  that game could use a hi-rez display tile map? I mean there’s probably less than 256 tiles total due to use of ascii….unless the colors matter then you need like a bunch of tiles or models or somthin….

visual c# would work great for that either with xna and usin models and 2d code (very flat square shaped models with 1 texture, can also zoom) or with the 2d platofrm startker kit or something

If you squint then the ASCII characters sort of blur together and it looks more realistic. Try that.

Where did that visualize button go? I mean, I know it was fairly useless, but it was mildly interesting I suppose.

Toady went from very good 3d, to 2d ascii graphics for a reason man.

If you want high-res tilesets, there's a well kept secret to getting them. You go down to the dollar store and buy yourself a magnifying glass. No, I kid you not, it works! Just hold it up to the computer screen and look really close.
