Jormund has been worried about the shadow creatures that attacked them in the night. With things like that lurking around who knew what could happen. The only solution to the problem would be to hunt the creatures themselves. They appeared to be very powerful creatures and so Jormund realized he shouldn't go alone, but with the help of some of the warriors it wouldn't be such a daunting task. Jormund went into town during the day and asked for the aid of anyone that was willing to help him find and hunt the creatures, and then set out to kill them.

Try to form a hunting party of citizens and warriors and set out to find the shadow creatures.

((New char profile... I'll introduce the basic info in-char)

Brushing a shoulder-length lock of ebon hair from fair-skinned face, Ehndras Aurea listens to a man call for immediate aid. He warns of dark creatures in the night who prey upon peasants and warriors alike, horrible, unnatural beasts who thirst for warm mortal flesh. With my gloved hand atop the hilt of my longsword, I study his speech and his movements for signs of whom he might be. Be he a warrior, or a noble? Perhaps an angered peasant? No... He seems too well-equipped, too experienced to be a nobleman or a lowly peasant. I am unsure who this man is, but the winds of Fate seem to guide his every step.

...Interesting."

With an eyebrow raised and enthusiasm in his step, Ehndras slowly approaches the mysterious stranger and comes to a halt within sword's reach. Expressionless except for the dancing lights reflecting from his emerald eyes. Ehndras comes to bow deeply, black-gloved hand still upon the hilt of his trusted blade, in a show not of intimidation but of experience and position as an adventuring warrior. With a nod of recognition, Ehndras gazes into the stranger's eyes and begins to speak.

"I am Ehndras Aurea, traveling explorer, adventurer and warrior. It is my belief that you require the aid of skilled warriors... As I am currently for hire, without the prospect of employment, I would be honored to accompany you into battle. What is your name, good sir, and what are these fell beasts of which you speak?"

With a smile, slight yet warm, Ehndras awaits the sign that this stranger is no murderer or fool, and that his quest is one of battle and honor. A man can withstand only so many betrayals before he is tempered in the flames of mistrust and bathed in the waters of solitude, a lone blade forged in the very depths of the inferno. Though his past is riddled with loss and regret, Ehndras hopes that his future will bring him honor and, in retrospect, bring meaning to his endless journey. What happens next, only the gods may know.

((And the GM, of course. Sorry if my introduction is a bit vague, I'm not sure what town I'm in and I'm going to slowly reveal the details as I figure out what the hell I'm doing. If someone can PM me and help me iron out the skills, appearance and background of my char, that'd be great! I'd prefer to be a traveling warrior from a far-off northern tribe to explain why I know nothing of these lands, as well as to get a fresh start, but that's up to the GM.))

Jormund is very intrigued by the man that stepped forward. He doesn't appear to be like the other Highlanders from around here, however he definitely looks like someone that could help. Jormund answers the man's questions as best as he can saying, "My name is Jormund, I was once a knight in Elbreth but have since been exiled from there because of my different beliefs in how the government should work. We know very little about the creatures we're going to hunt. While I was attempting to settle some land in the area me and the people with me were attacked in the middle of the night. They appear to be very fast and very powerful, but I wish to do my best to exterminate or at the very least discover more about them and where they came from. I'd be glad to have your aid."

"A man who fights for what he believes is right, especially in the face of the politics of lordship and a kingdom's ambitions, is a man of conviction and honor. I am pleased to make your acquaintance Sir Jormund the Knight. Exiled or not, you are a knight yet still, only one without a lord to call his own. It would be my greatest honor to aid you in your quest for the discovery and extermination of these creatures who attacked you."

Shifting the balance of his body to the left, his dominant side, he reflects upon what has been said. His eyes flicker with intelligence as he goes over battle tactics in his mind, analyzing the task at hand with great interest.

"We have two choices in this situation. We can gather a large force and outnumber them at the loss of the element of surprise, or we can gather a small group of skilled warriors to track and attack the beasts at their heart. My opinion is that a small group tracking them to their lair will attract less attention and, when we find it, will allow us to enter it quietly without immediately attracting their attention. We must strike them as they strike us in the night; sudden, without warning, without remorse. We'd be best to travel to where you were attacked and track them by day. We can then choose to either watch from nearby and enter their lair when they're out hunting, or wait out the night and attack in the day when they might be weaker, possibly sleeping."

For a moment, an odd twitch registers on his face, as if faced with a painful memory. A fleeting moment passes where one could swear they saw remorse and profound sadness in his eyes, and then it is gone. Attention renewed, Ehndras thrusts himself back into deep thought.

"What say you, Sir Jormund?"

"Find their lair is probably our best bet to get rid of them, but I have a bad feeling that they might not have a lair like ordinary beasts. Still, what you said is probably true, we should take a small group during the daytime, back to the area we were trying to settle and look from there."

Unless Ehndras has anything further to add, get a small group of trained hunters and warriors and go back to the area of the attack. Look for any signs of the creatures and possibly where they came from.

Slowly walking, Kytuzian went back to The Rusted Pick, with the intent of following up on some of the things he had heard, or maybe learning new information. While the rumors of cave-people probably aren't true, they may have a grain of truth hidden inside them. Or it could just be drunk ramblings. Along with that though, was the matter of magical artifacts and the like. Miners would be likely to know the insides of the mountains and the hidden passages better, and therefore the locations of unexplored areas inside the mountains.

Just need to make sure I get there early, before anyone has a chance to get drunk, thought Kytuzian.

Go to the bar an inquire about the cave-people, unexplored sections of the mountains, and perhaps a map of them too.

OOC:
Aye, for a rebel turned raider turned refugee Sir Jormund is probably one of the less insane and more reasonable characters in this RP.

Yoink, you're actually in Preston at the moment along with the rest of the royal army (Which is led by both Knave and Kaguro).

Speaking of Preston: You guys who are involved in the Preston war effort should really start with some input towards the strategy of the whole thing. I'm not going to be able to parcel out any kind of substantial reward to people who just sit there, so you'll end up relying on whatever your regiments loot -- and that's assuming your regiments loot anything.

For reference, here are the Elbrethian Forces in Preston (Because nobody volunteered I rolled a die and one of Kaguro's Guard Regiments were killed):

Code: [Select]
3 Infantry (Crown)
1 Guard Reg [Inf] (Draven)
1 Infantry (Draven)
1 Guard [Inf] (yl Marchis)
1 Guard [Inf] (Trubaldsome)
2 Guard [Inf] (Black)

Or 9 Infantry

Elbrethian Armies in General:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Will make rolls and replies in a bit.

Nothing further to add.

Ehndras in particular should focus on searching for disturbances in the underbrush, branches, and soil, as a large, quick creature would undoubtedly leave noticeable tracks if one knows where to look. Most likely these noctural hunters live within a hidden cave system, and so Ehndras will search for rumors and signs of mountains or ground caves in the region surrounding the attack site.
