McJohnston mumbles angrily and motions his soldiers to wait near a tent. Turning to the soldier he says, "Tell your Chief that an outsider is here to see him when he's done." Bloody inbred ass... He thinks, as he begins walking away to converse with his soldiers by the tent. "You'd think these primitive apes would show some respect." He says to one of his soldiers. Without waiting for a reply he orders them to stand watch in case locals decide to get a bit unfriendly.

Action: Try to get an audience with Corv after he's done.

Jormund thinks to himself over the Ztah's proposal and eventually decides that they can probably convince the Ztah of just about anyone being the bandit leader, so he's willing to take a risk since he's desperate for some allies on his side and desperate times call for desperate measures. He rationalizes to himself, "It's better to kill one man in order to gain the help of these raiders than to risk the lives of dozens of my own men."

Send a few men into the outskirts of Brighthall looking for anyone that could be a suitable bandit. Once located attempt to kill him and remove his head and take it back to the Baikovs.

((Gee. It sure would be handy to have another damn regiment at my back.))

Terenos spat on the ground. He called back to give the order to arm up and prepare for battle, should it come to them.
Survey the city, try to determine the strength of enemy forces.

OOC: Weasel, since you aren't getting locked in the dungeon again it's safe to assume that you'll be available to talk to people some time after the meeting with the King -- which is when those people would be approaching you.
If I can vaguely shift from one moment to another and make a mockery of time itself, I'm sure you can too.

In other news, I just went through all the relevant information and laid out your info similar to the way the King's is, Ghazkull (because I find it easier to organize in my head that way)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I know for a fact I'm missing more than a few people here. I'll be going back to edit in responses for a little while after this post's initial posting (provided there isn't a page worth of posts coming in right after this or something). If it looks like I'm skipping over you as I edit this for some reason, shoot me a PM.

In the Castle at Night, The Night of Kaguro's Trial...

(Silas 6) You make your way back down the corridor, checking every right hand door. After a moment, you find success! One of the doors opens to a hallway at the end of which is a locked door. This is, no doubt, the royal treasury.
Come to think of it...you feel like maybe you got a bit too lucky here. Something has to be out of place.
Ah, yes, that's it! As you were standing in front of the locked door, the door through which you came in closed with a gentle click. You turn about to find yourself face to face with the King's steward, who isn't exactly thrilled to be meeting you here, to say the least.

In Sheepstead ~4 Days after Kaguro's Trial, ~6 Days after Sir Taric's Demon-slaying...

(Sir Taric 6) Erika is more than happy to prattle on about the royal family. It would appear that the royal family is quite small.
As far as cousins go, there are:
-Erika and her brother Eric. Their parents are both dead.
-Barte II, Egor, and Alfred. Who reportedly have no need for land, instead acting as enterprising merchants. (Though Egor has married into Brighthall land)
-Boris, a fourth cousin and a drunken lout, and his sisters: Willie and Dena.
-And, of course, King Erik and his little sister, Kara, who rarely makes public appearances and is, by all accounts, as shy as her brother is protective.

King Erik and Kara's father, King William, is deceased as is their mother Queen Camille (who was a minor noble lady from Brighthall)
Erika's parents are dead, as well.
Barte, Egor, and Alfred's mother, Ingrid, still lives. Their father Barte is dead.
Boris, Willie, and Dena never knew their father, but rumors are that it was Barte. Their mother is Astrid.

Astrid and Ingrid are both aunts of King Erik and Erika both.
Barte was a nobleman-turned-general who died several years before the Late King William. By all accounts, he was a worthless drunk.

Barte II has a young son, William. His wife, a noble lady from Preston, died during childbirth. Lord Egor has two daughters, Ada, who is quite young, and Anna Lee, who is nearing an age suitable for marriage, with his wife Lady Emma who hails from Brighthall. A third child is on the way. Alfred is as-of-yet unmarried.
Willie was married to a merchant from the Swordcoast four years ago, and likely has a child or two by now. Dena has joined a nunnery in Suul, or so rumor has it.
Boris likely has more than a few illegitimate children if the rumors are true, but he's unmarried.

Erika believes that when King Erik marries it will be to a woman from Brighthall as fits the family tradition. She jokes that King Erik will never allow his sister to marry, as she's been of age for a few years now and all suitors have been turned away thus-far.

The King's Court, Day of the War Meeting...

(Locanil 2) Try as you might, you have an incredibly difficult time teaching the peasants when "th" should and should not be used. At the very least, you've put an end to the fad of using "th" to start every single word.

The King's Court ~9 Days after Kaguro's Trial, ~1 Day after the War Meeting...

(Mahtan) The King nods slowly, studying the ballista one last time before waving you away with his uninjured hand. "Very well. You will be given quarters in the castle, I will see about providing you with the necessary facilities to continue your experiments after the war."
With that, he turns and strides back to the castle.

Two Days after the War Meeting...

A raised platform had appeared in the courtyard almost overnight, not unlike the sort an executioner would stand upon whilst operating a guillotine. Looking over the gathered soldiers and knowing that he would not be able to ride into battle alongside them, King Erik felt like an executioner, and this war with Preston was his guillotine. He was not happy about that, to say the least, but there was nothing that could be done.
About an hour passed, and then, once the Steward was certain that every marching regiment had been gathered, Erik rose to his feet and raised both hands -- the bandages had been removed from his sword-hand prematurely solely for this speech -- to quell the crowd, which had now become a mix of soldiers and peasants. His eyes swept over the sea of faces before him, and at his back he could feel the eyes of both his sister and his Steward. For a moment, and perhaps for the first time in his life, certainly the first time since he had taken the throne, the King felt stage-fright. Swallowing, and admitting that the apprehension stemmed from sending these young men off to fight a battle that he would not, an act of ultimate, but necessary, cowardice on his part, King Erik began to speak.

"My Elbrethian brothers, we who have walked these lands since the time of Aemiliana and Elbreth himself, who have fought time and again to protect our lives, our homes, and our families. I ask you once more to take up arms, in the name of God and King and Country, to defend these lands. For the forces of Preston stir to kill and thieve and worse from all who would cross their path, and march on our cousins in Miring even now. So I ask you to fight! Take up spear, sword, and shield and drive these fools back where they belong! And when years have past, and singers sing of this, look back upon your old scars and say "Yes, these I took upon myself in service to my land, and what a glorious thing they are!" and let those who hear your name in the singer's songs and see your scars hold themselves of little worth alongside you. So go forth, my brothers," he paused only a moment, reaching down to slip his injured hand into a leather strap that had been tied to the handle of his father's longsword. Drawing it from the scabbard and holding it high in the air, Erik could only hope that none could see the look of pain that momentarily crossed his features as he attempted to actually wrap his twisted fingers about the hilt instead of relying on the strap, "Go forth, and know that your cause is just and your blades are true!"

Give a (rousing?) speech. Send our forces off to battle as per the plan.

~1 Month After the Armies Set Out...

(Corv) The King frowned down at the man, and then looked to the guard who had brought him in. "Well then, we had best not touch his shield, eh?"
With that, the King rose and descended from the platform on which his throne sat, his attention turned to the barbarian who had been dragged in to audience with him. "You will not use such language in my court, is that understood?" he queried, standing eye-to-eye with Reg. "Now then, I am willing to believe that the shield is simply covered and leather, though the blood is...barbaric. You came here for a reason, what might that be?"

Elsewhere in the World...

On a Hunting Trail in the Eelspine Mountain Range (bordering Suul)...

(Ztah Raiders) There is nobody left to contest your taking the hunting lodges for your own use. You now have 1 parcel of land in Suul, though it's essentially in the Eelspine Range. (2) The Goatherders are not fighters, and you cannot convince them to take up arms on your behalf. (3) Luckily, this means that they can't really stop you from taking their land as your own. You now have 1 parcel of land in the Eelspine range. (3) The Goatherders aren't too happy, but since you aren't actively preventing them from using the land they're willing to divulge some information on the surroundings. There isn't much to be said, really. The far-eastern portion of the Eelspine range is good grazing land -- but you've already claimed that. Hunting trails lead down to Suul, which is an archbishopric and a coastal city. They have a lot of wealth, probably.

The Outskirts of Brighthall...

(Sir Jormund 6) You're looking through the outskirts of Brighthall, there are more than a few bandit-types that you could try and kill. Your men quickly kill the most likely candidate, and bring back his head. The Ztah aren't 100% sure it's the right guy, but (3) they're willing to send a regiment to raid with you now anyways, for half the cut.
However, the bandit who's head you just cut off had more than a few friends. And they're not too happy. Rumor has it that the bandits in Brighthall have sworn revenge on you.

(( YAY VISITORS!))

The meeting in the smoky longhouse continued(actually the meeting had ended hours before as the scouts were sent away and the men inside were just feasting). Donald McMurray was just about to tell a jape about a Elbereth Lord, A Weyland goat and the depravity of Suulian nuns as Tyrus Halfnose interrupted rather rudely.

"Oi, Chief some Stranger with soldiers is outside, means ter talk to ye."

mnmnhhnnmngngn

"He said that you should bring him in but keep his men outside and look that he is wearing no weapons..."

Bring the stranger in but search for weapons or poison and make sure none of his guards goes in with him...

EDIT: hey thansk for the template

You missed mine thatkid

The human who had walked up to him was Ochita. a new servant of the king, a diplomat to be precise. He wanted to learn magic. Locanil kept saying that he knew no true magic and the only way thing that was magical about his abilities was his connection with the spirits. He also explained his connection was only possible by actively worshiping Oritziem, who allows his acolytes to contact the spirits. When Ochita finally left for Suul, Locanil was still confused if Ochita understood.

Well enough about the human now, it was time to teach the peasants and maybe get to making that map.

Action- Teach peasants and make a start on map

((er...didn't see it... well nevermind))

The peasants were fools. He had been repeating that in his mind for a few hours now. But at least they could write something. Locanil had other things to do

"Berte, I have other tasks to fulfill, go do something else for now"

"Aye Locanil. Com'on boys the teach'e has a job to do"

Locanil left and returned to his room. He spent some hours finishing up his map. He decided he would bring  it to the Steward.

After that...He would go look for the new alchemist... He had some ideas to suggest...

Action- Bring map to steward and find and talk to Mahtan

Map (and yes, I haven't changed this at all from the previous posted map. Im too lazy to make a good version)

Uh. Silas stares at the steward for a few seconds.

>Quick, win him over with your disarming cuteness!

Silas is pretty darn sure that won't work! The existence of the disarming cuteness is debatable, but the steward sees a sinister hooded figure sneaking around where he doesn't belong, and disarming cuteness will be brushed off as just another tactic.

>Then... explain yourself, I guess?

Oh boy. There's a lot to explain. Where to start?

>Well, your guardian angel sent you in here, probably knowing this would happen. The advice has been tricksy and mysterious before, but never outright bad, so think about why this might be desirable and go from there.

The man nodded to the soldier. "Of course, my soldiers will wait out here." He said as he unhooked his sword from his belt. He handed it to one of the soldiers along with the satchel he had. "Hold this until I get back. Stay right here." And with that he followed the soldier to Manskinner.

He stopped before the chief and took a bow. "Hello, the mighty Chief of these villagers. I have come in search of a job, money and protection. I was traveling to a settlement a bit away from here but my escort died. Save for several soldiers. We saw the smoke from fires, heard people and headed towards the village. And now I am here." He stood up straight and took a breath as if he was trying to sound sad. "But let's not play games. I have skills. Many, many skills. Well not many. Some. Anyway, I am primarily a Doctor. A doctor from far west of here. I also know a bit of swordplay. From the looks of this place you do not have many doctors, correct? Thought so." He talked quickly as to not waste the Chief's time. "My proposition is that you provide me with a ducat this year. My men will fight for you and I will provide my medical services to you. How 'bout it?" He spoke with a more elegant tone than the rough, primitive voices of the people here. Raising an eyebrow in question he waited Manskinner's reply.

((Would the GM have a guard search me? If so I'm sorry. Didn't really think it over.))

Jormund is glad to have the aid of the Ztah troops with him. "It should be enough to take on the Yevenov atleast" he thinks to himself.

Take his troops as well as the Baikov clan and head for the lands that the Yevenov control to the Northwest. If possible, when they get close to the Yevenov's camp set up a surprise attack on them.

First a shack, then a dungeon, then a barracks, and now palace quarters, things are looking up for me if I do say so.

Mahtan makes way to his new quarters which, on a brilliant decision by the king, are in a separate tower connected by a bridge to the rest of the palace and on the top floor.

On his way though he is caught by Waery and asked to meet with Trubaldsome, which he agrees to.

((Drua is basically supplying Trubaldsome with the medieval equivalent of an opium-heroin mix :P Feel free to add in some fun rolls if so inclined :P))

~Just after the meeting with Trubaldsome...
Drua sits at her desk, finishing packing the package for Trubaldsome. The tools of her labour sat beside her: a scraping plate, numerous small bowls of water mixed with leave compositions. Beside that was a long and complex series of treatments through tubes, roughly six different burners extracting out the final product, which lay in a small tube at the end of the process. She pours the contents of the tube out onto the table, cuts the amount in half, thinks on it again, and halves it again. The noble was already drugged up, no reason to give him another habit. Packing the small amount of crystallized powder into a tube, she adds a spoon and small funnel that ends in a needle-sharp point into the package. She scrawls out instructions:
'Heat the powder crystals on the provided spoon until it forms into a clear liquid. Open a small cut into your upper arm, arming for the thick blue lines that denote veins. Slowly and steadily have an assistant use the included funnel to pierce the wound and pour the liquid into the funnel. The effects will kick in within the minute, dulling your senses. You shouldn't be able to feel any pain.' With that done, she adds in the note and seals the box shut, waiting for that assistant to come and pick it up.
Deliver the package to Waery.

~The battle!
Drua stands in the castle courtyard, wearing a light set of armour, a short sword clipped to her side. The sword was coated in a black layer of a very nasty poison Drua had concocted this morning. Some troop had mocked her this morning as she picked up a ration from a canteen, something about being a woman and not being able to fight. Drua smiles warmly at the memory of his screams, the small guard standing beside her misinterpreting this as optimism and begin readying up to go to war. Drua heads off to find the king of Miring. She has a little plan...
Ask for permission to be used as a saboteur, sneaking over to the enemy camp and poisoning their food and water supplies.
