The Grand Master was all but flabbergasted at the events that had transpired. This child mage had not only brought a powerful demon that could have harmed his King, but he couldn't even control the bloody thing. Before he could react the demon had thrown itself and the guard it inhabited through the window, into the courtyard below.

Seeing that an entire platoon of guards were descending on the foolish boy summoner, The Grand Master decided the best use of his sword arm would be to help track down that demon before it caused more harm to the innocent citizens of Sheepstead.

“I shall follow that cursed beast, My liege!” He shouted at the King. His Sergeants would stay behind and ensure the Erik's safety, though he had no doubt about his abilities when compared to a single boy. He cursed lightly under his breathe as he ran out of the hall, praying for strength as he made for the ornate staircases of the palace. By the blood curdling screams he heard in the courtyard the demon was making short work of anyone and everyone who stood in his path (Or nearby it). He huffed in deep breathes as he raced down the stairs as quickly as he could, his legs protesting as he happened into the courtyard to see the trail of gore and destruction.

He hoped he would find the creature soon before it could cause too much more damage.

Try to follow the path of destruction and help contain, kill or drive off the beast.

As Hiatsu ran away he turned, and said to the King "This is your payment for killing my family, and my village, so your people will suffer. *Evil Laughter*"

Trubaldsome listened to Kaguro in silence, rocking back and forth on his heels and swilling the wine around in his goblet, his only expression one of mild, partially-suppressed distaste. Once the general had finished, he began, giving a shrug of his shoulders as he spoke, "Oh no, I doubt the assassin was every meant for me. I agree whole-heartedly that your most probable course of action in such a case would be to swing a sword at me yourself... 'Tis what you peasants are best at, after all." Acid dripped from his words, then he tilted his head, observing Kaguro critically through narrowed eyes, taking a sip of his drink before continuing. "No, this assassin was not meant for me. He was sent for the Lady Erika. Your "soldiers honour" is readily apparent, general, in that you would not wish to kill a lady yourself."
He allowed himself a small, ironic smile, then gestured with his goblet as he moved onto the other point.
"As for why you would molest the King's cousin of all people, well..." He grimaced slightly, and shook his head.
"I have been here during the King's campaign, I saw the madness and debauchery rife in the streets. It seems most likely you simply grew bored of toying with penniless peasant girls-Several of whom, it must be noted, have since turned up dead- And set your sights on... larger game, to put it vulgarly, in terms you shall perhaps understand."
He flicks a look towards the corpse laid out on the floor, lips curling with distaste.
"And perhaps all of this would have gone unpunished, amongst the general chaos, but for the courage of young Erika in speaking out, telling me of the incident." Finished, he moved back to his seat, setting aside his goblet to take a one-handed pinch from his snuffbox with his unbandaged hand, his gaze sliding languidly from Kaguro to the King.

OOC: Good idea, Taric.

Terenos, your luck is certainly odd alright.

EDIT: Removed the battle. Iituem's got that covered.

During the Trial of Kaguro...

The King was no stranger to death, but upon seeing Kaguro's insignia on the corpses chest he couldn't help but look away. Taking in other deep breath, he turned his attention to hearing what the General had to say. (1) "...That will be enough, Kaguro." the King replied quietly, motioning for two of his guards to apprehend the General. He then paused for a moment longer before turning his attention to Trubaldsome, his jaw firmly set. "And I wonder, Lord Trubaldsome. Why was my dear cousin Erika ever in prolonged contact with either of you, and how did you find out about these...events?"

In Eelspine...

Almost as soon as Kain's first runner left, one of the King's own would arrive with a response: He is allowed to colonize the mountains, however for every parcel he colonizes he must also colonize another solely in the name of the crown.

Fake Edit:Kaguro did not fight the guards, he mearly asked for a chance to continue pleading his case.

FE:If the king allows it Kaguro does the following

" 'not wish to kill a lady yourself'? You apparently don't know much about soldiers, believe it or not women will often fight at their husbands sides if they are rebeling, and there are infact female bandits, that's not even includeing the fact sometimes......purges are ordered by command, a soldier can kill a woman as easily as they can kill a man, easier in fact, women are less likely to stab you in the chest while you kill them." He said, takeing his normal calm authorative tone.  "As for my 'madness and debauchery', when did you ever vist the retaken lands of this provence? To my knowledge you've never left the capital, did you realise I've built up a town and market both nearly as successful as the ones here at the capital right?" He said shakeing his head, sound almost like he was talking to a child. He looked sideways towards the king then back toward Trubaldsome. "I also find it odd that all of these accusations started after I forced you to stop throwing people in the dungeons 'on the king's orders', becouse they didn't bow and grovel when you walked by. You've already accused me of 'working with rebel saboteurs to blow up the dungeons' when it was the alchemist haveing another......accident. That reminds me." He turned fully to the king. "Did you get my messenger milord of the......incident with Lord Trubaldsome?"

"Well I always thought it would end this way." said Hiatsu as he recalled his blade, and destroyed the seal on his arm he turned to the king,a dn said "This is not my fault, but yours I told you not to listen to the demon, yet you asked what he wanted, adn when I tried to weaken him he got free, because I had to hold his form for, so long, but now I will be going good luck." he said turning, and runnin out the door.

Flee the town by the time I escape Gil. will have vanished.

((I wasn't banishing him just withdrawing his power to the point he passed out which shouldn't have took a roll))

Thank you for pointing this out to me.  I didn't realise you'd edited the post after I'd written it up.  I'll come back to this.

If King Erik had planned on giving the summoner a moment to rectify its mistakes, he was never going to be able to now. As the first guard fell, and the second fled, half of the regiment in the room closed in. Within moments, nearly fifteen guards would be attempting to make the summoner into an impromptu weapon-rack. Three would move to guard the possible exits/entrances, and ten more would be rushing out of the castle to try and stop the possessed guard.

The King himself was stunned, caught off-guard by the sudden burst of violence and magic, and did not react until after his guardsmen had already moved in to attack. Seeing no other option, or perhaps not intent on anything other than slaying the traitor's demonic brethren, he raised his longsword and moved to aid his soldier's in cornering and slaying the summoner.

[2-2]  The guards block the doors before Hiatsu can flee.  He will have to fight his way out.

I'll be employing player vs player combat for this.  Erik has advantage Weapon (+1) and Guards (+1, extra 3hp), but I'm not going to assume he wears his armour when holding court.  Hiatsu has advantage Magic (+1) in place of a weapon.

[5+2 vs 6+1, Draw]  Erik draws his longsword and advances on the summoner, guards converging on him from all sides.  Hiatsu raises his hands and chants, gesturing at the guards closest to him.  Four of the guardsmen scream as strange tendrils burst from their torsos, then crumble to dust, taking several of their organs with them.  Hiatsu dodges a direct thrust from the King, but suffers a glancing blow from one of the swordsmen.  [King 5hp, Hiatsu 2hp]

[4+2 vs 6+1, Hiatsu]  Hiatsu ducks another swordstroke from one of the guardsmen, ducks and picks up one of the fallen guards' swords.  He flings it inexpertly through the air, but partway through the blade malforms, growing several sharp scything blades and cutting through another five guardsmen in its path.  [King 4hp, Hiatsu 2hp]

[6+2 vs 2+1, King]  Before the summoner can employ his magic further, three of the guardsmen grab him from behind and the King stabs at Hiatsu's belly.  Hiatsu manages to squirm to the side but still takes a deep wound to the side.  [King 4hp, Hiatsu 1hp]

[4+2 vs 6+1, Hiatsu]  Hiatsu grasps the arms of two of the guards holding him.  The guardsmen sprout thorn-ridden tendrils that wrap around their fellows, tearing them away from the wizard and choking them to death.  Their job done, the tendrils slump inert to the ground.  Only the King is left to face Hiatsu now.  [King 3hp, Hiatsu 1hp.  Guard bonus destroyed.]

[1+1 vs 5+1, Hiatsu]  Erik sweeps his blade in a long arc, aiming for Hiatsu's throat.  The mage ducks and rolls, then reaches up and grasps the hiltguard of Erik's sword.  The guard sprouts several spines that pierce Erik's hand.  The king yells with pain.  [King 2hp, Hiatsu 1hp]

[3+1 vs 4+1, Hiatsu]  Keeping hold of the guard, Hiatsu keeps up a mumbled chant as he forces the king down to the ground.  The steel spines continue to grow, piercing the king's arm.  Blood runs freely from the wounds, the sword physically bound into the king's forearm by the spines.  Most of the spines stop, but Hiatsu focuses on one last spine, growing closer and closer to the King's heart...  [King 1hp, Hiatsu 1hp]

[6+1 vs 3+1, King]  With a roar of pain and rage, the King swings his bloody, useless arm and brings the longsword with it - straight into Hiatsu's neck.  The blade bites, nicking its edge on the collarbone, but the effect is good enough.  Blood fountains freely from the wizard's throat and he crumples to the ground, a glassy look of surprise in his eyes.  [King 1hp, Hiatsu 0hp]

With the wizard dead, the spirit bound in King Erik's sword flees.  The cruel steel spikes running through his forearm retract back into the sword, leaving the King gravely wounded with several holes in his sword arm.  When the courtiers and healers finally reach him, he is lying in a bloody heap by the throne, moaning incoherently from the pain with a crude bandage (in truth, his own cape) wrapped around his ruined hand.  The royal chamber is strewn with bodies, palace guard and that of the summoner.

The King, of course, lives.  The royal alchemist, Drua, is able to prepare a tincture to dull the horrendous pain of the king's wounds enough for him to deal with matters of court from his bedside.  By the very next day he is already forced to deal with noble accusations even in his state of ill health, but such are the responsibilities of a king.  His spirit heals and hardens soon enough, but it remains to be seen whether his sword arm ever will.

The King may not raise a personal guard regiment this year, as his men are required to replace those palace guard lost in the fight.  The King has lost the use of one hand - temporarily and perhaps permanently.  Hiatsu is dead.
