((Warning, Rambling ahead. Wherein Terenos sums up what occured during his months away. The 'assassination' attempt? That's a story he'll share when hes drunk.))
Terenos bows deeply upon his admittance to the council chambers.
"I bring mixed news, My king. Firstly and foremost, I have apparently secured trade with Preston, I am sure you are well aware of this however as I was passed several times by merchants bringing preserved fish. I also bear a full report of the military layout of Preston.
They possess 6 Regiments of infantry under the Crown, and 4 under various nobles. And a modest navy of light ships and a carrack.
The reason for this excessive military deployment? War. War brews between Preston and Miring, and I managed to get caught in the middle of it. This war is to occur this year. I stole the military plans of Preston with the intention of delivering them to Miring to prevent a crushing victory. Key nobles were set to defect to Preston's side, allowing a swift decisive victory. Bandits waylaid me, I am still unsure if they were in the employ of Preston or traitorous nobles, or what have you. But there I lost my regiment.
Upon my arrival in Miring I was yet again waylaid. This time by a traitorous noble. He proved far less capable than I with a blade and after being called an assassin, and some rather heavy fighting in the halls I managed to reach the King of Miring in his council chambers.
When I revealed the evidence I had..Mayhem broke out. His guard attacked his guard, nobles attacked nobles.. I saved his life, and as such he thinks highly of me.
But no other lives were saved, my king. Not loyalists, or traitors. The King of Miring urgently requests our aid, militarily. And I strongly advise you send him help. Without direct military aid, Miring will fall to Preston, and we will border an expansionist state with an army nearly double our size. If we do aid Miring, we will be able to sack Preston and occupy it. Given Miring's dire circumstances, we will likely be able to get away with a very lopsided division of the spoils."
