use scouts to search for a safe passage through brighthall

[6]  Your scouts locate a safe, effective route through Silverbranch to Weyland that avoids any garrisons, villages or other guard positions.  It is perfect - so perfect in fact that someone is already using it.  The smugglers who operate the route aren't keen on letting your men go through it and risk exposing their operations.  You'll need to bypass them somehow.

[1]  Negotiations go poorly.  Your scouts get a little too hot-headed and the smugglers swear that if they see you again, things will come to blows.

Alright, unless there's more that Kaguro/Trubaldsome want to accomplish, shall I end the year?

(( Well... No-one's barged into Trubaldsome's room to see what the hell all the screaming was about... I was thinking it was a rush-rush kindof thing, trying to disguise the body before someone turned up. Oh well))
Trubaldsome, finally feeling human again, clad in his (second) finest outfit, frowned uncertainly as he looked down at the dead man in the fireplace. "Damnation!" He hissed to himself, seeing the man's face still clearly visible, and hearing confused shouting echoing from somewhere not far away.. He began to panic in earnest. "Damn damn damn! Pox, buggery and damnation!" He stamped his clumsily-booted foot once, twice. After casting a frantic look about the room for a solution, he quickly calmed himself with help from his snuffbox, and began to assess the situation. Not wanting to ruin another set of clothes, the first thing he did was strip down to his underclothes, stowing his second favourite clothes on a chair, folded neatly a good way away from the fireplace.
Then, wearing just his snug woolen longjohns and the much-maligned backup boots, he grabbed a fire poker, managed to shove a few more chunks of firewood into the hearth, and stoked frantically around the corpse's head, cursing frantically under his breath as he tried not to inhale smoke.

Trubaldsome attempts to stoke up the flames of the fireplace, to finally make the man unrecognisable.
If that doesn't work, well, with people rapidly approaching to investigate, he panics, and frantically beats at the man's head with his fire poker, covering his eyes with one hand and grimacing.

[4] You get the fireplace hot enough to start making serious burns on the man's face.  [3]  You still get a bit antsy and end up stabbing his face a few times with the poker.  By the time you're done the room smells horribly of burnt meat and the man is quite unrecognisable.

With the exception of the King, I can't let any active player take on the role of an arbiter.  Their neutrality would be suspect.

Assuming Trubaldsome has no intention of seeking out the alchemist further, year end post will come in a few short hours - I'll need to trawl through the thread and make sure everything's up to date.

OOC: Well since it looks like the new year isn't going to start before I leave, I'm now officially putting adwarf in charge as long as that's ok. I'll pm him some basic instructions for atleast what to do for the next few days. If it's not ok for some reason, just tell adwarf to send the orders to Iituem and then they can carry them out I suppose. Hopefully I won't be terribly swamped with reading when I get back, but I have a feeling I will..

...And yes, I'm here just to post on B12 in RP posts. Can't get geekier than that.

(( Ha, I have no idea how many potential heirs actually died in that whole 'diplomacy' mission to Miring, but it sure was a pretty large number! ))

Trubaldsome, finally satisfied that Feodair would not be recognised, staggered away from the fireplace, gasping for breath through the smoke. Shaking with nerves, he dropped his snuffbox with a clatter on the floor, then bent to pick it up but instead fell to his knees and retched violently across the floor.
'Bloody hell this is not going to plan!' He thought, and very nearly broke down crying from the unfairness of it all. Why couldn't that foolish noblewoman have just agreed to testify? Stupid females and their hormones, he grimaced.
Finally rising to his knees after inhaling practically half of the snuff in one snort, he took several deep breaths-unfortunately rather foul-smelling ones- And fought to compose himself.
Once he wasn't on the verge of a stroke, he moved wearily over to gather up his clothes and tug them back on, straightening himself up with determination. Just as running footsteps and shouts closed in down the hallway, he reached across his desk, picked up his hat, and placed it reverently back upon his head.
Thus attired, he took up his sabre once more, and took up position about as far away from the foul-smelling fireplace as he could, and sought to look suitably shocked and aghast, without appearing undignified.

Then his men (and likely the palace guard, etcetera) burst into the room, no doubt observing the bloodstains and vomit spattered about the room, the thick, greasy clouds of smoke, the charred body half-fallen into the fire, and the young lord of Miring looking rather dishevelled and dazed where he stood, blood on his sword and soot staining his clothes.

((That last paragraph might change depending on what the GM/others say, I dunno... ))

Trubaldsome struggles for a while to compose himself, then dresses back in his (still, despite his efforts, dirty) clothes, grabs up his sword and prepares to put on a big act of being shocked and horrified that an assassin would burst into his room.

It is now the year 314.

Event Consequences

Population Booms:  The slaughter of the rebels and capture of their land has helped mitigate the problem of overpopulation somewhat, though the feeble land available in Eelspine does not do much to help empty bellies.  Things could be worse, but the Crown is still forced to expend 1 Ducat's worth of wealth in emptying out the granaries.

Instability in the Capital:  [3]  Whilst the King has been away overzealous policing by nobility, freak explosions in the palace and a rash of murders of young peasant girls have set the citizens of Sheepstead on edge.  They are looking to the King for a solution.  [5]  At the same time one of the king's second cousins approaches the King with disturbing revelations about General Kaguro.  She seems rather distraught, [3] though the timing of the event with an assassination attempt on Lord Trubaldsome's life seems suspicious.  [3]  At the same time, General Draven is also seeking the King to redress issues of his own, possibly relating to his needing to take the alchemist Mahtan into custody.  One way or another, the King had better resolve these problems before unrest turns to rioting.

Annual Events

[3] Average Harvest:  No great excesses, no unmanageable shortages.  Your peasants get to live this year.

Spoiler: The Kingdom of Elbreth (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Other Lands (click to show/hide)

Changes to Trade Potential:  Trade Potential is now at least partly based on the total number of resources the kingdom has access to.  In essence, each resource gives a +1 to the TP of every owned province above base.

Map to follow later.

Recruit a new guard, as well as a militia for the town. Also try and start up a major mining operation in eelspine. Head back to Elbreth to help resolve the trobles.
