And goddamnit Erika! How fragile can someone get! Well, bugger. Time for plan... is it F we're on now, or U? I dunno, lost count. ))
Trubaldsome scowled. He leaned foward at his desk to bash his head (gently) against it, as the sounds of the young noblewoman's sobbing tormented his ears. Eventually he sat up, and cast his quill back down onto the desk, just as he heard a knock on the door. "Come in!!" He screeched, momentarily silencing Erika. He frowned-He just realised, no-one was supposed to know the young noble was here! He panicked momentarily, but thankfully the door opened to reveal only Feodair, pushing it open with some trepidation.
"Sir? Ah, here is that oil," He extended a small cask of oil towards Trubaldsome, who gestured for him to put it by the door. "And the men report little unusual about Kaguro's soldiers, but they seem to be out in force around the barracks." He gave a slight shrug of his shoulders, and Trubaldsome stepped foward, giving him a reassuring clap on the shoulder. "Good job, Yeoband. Er, Feodair. Whatever. Anyway, good work! You have served well. Now, I have another task for you..."
After a brief, hushed conversation in the hallway, Trubaldsome sent the man on his way and stepped back inside, pulling the door swiftly closed. Chuckling wryly to himself, he bypassed the whimpering Erika and headed back to his desk, this time reaching for a long black case to the back of it. He stared upon it for a long while, running his beringed fingers across the black wooden surface, the Miring family crest painted upon it in silver. Flicking open the catches on the case, he withdrew a finely made, well-balanced steel saber, simple but elegant, not to mention effective, its only adornment an enemerald set in its iron pommel.
He flicked it back and forth, testing its weight, then leant it against his armchair and sat, producing his snuffbox to oil its hinges. In response to Erika's questioning look, he merely sighed and shook his head.
"Erika my dear, I am glad you have seen the error of your ways for not testifying, but sadly, Kaguro will not stop his attempts on your life until either he is punished for his crimes, or you, my dear... Are dead."
With the last, he flipped open his snuffbox for a meditative whiff, and then tucked it, and the oily rag, away, careful to keep the oil off his clothes, then settled back in his seat, gritting his teeth as the woman ruined several of his best silken handkerchiefs, and rested the saber across his knees.
