OOC: Taric, I'm going to assume that this is all taking place while you're still out chasing after Jormund.

[hr[

"The rebel will be purified upon the wheel." the King answers Kain calmly and impassively, watching as the Grand Master's men stack dry wood and brush for the fire. He then turned to face the other man, a look of surprise crossing his face for only a brief moment as he notices Kain's pointed ears. "Lord Kain, the alcohol was a stroke of genius, if I must say." He smiles, and then suddenly cuts to the chase, "If you draw up plans for the Eelspine Fortress, I shall grant you the land and ducats to have it built as well as land at the foot of the mountain for farming. I'm afraid you will need to share the range with Sir Taric the Just, however."

He then glanced about the battlefield for a moment before turning to order his regiments into action, "You lot, collect the rebels we have slain here today and create a funeral pyre. The rest of you, set to work building cairns for our fallen."

"I have them on me somewhere..." He pats himself down ineffectivly for a few moments before he realizes that he left them in his cloak when it caught fire.
"Ach. Hold on... I have a copy in my tent." He nods at the woman-now hooded and standing in the shadows-who rushes through the town and runs to Kain's tent.

((Those are wayyyy tooo big.))

She returns a bit later with a rolled up bit of parchment.
Which he hands to the king.

((Pm'ing))

Chuckle to myself and nod at my men "In truth my friends, we could not have wished for better. 'Assassins' almost always get to see the King."
Calmly, reasonably ensure my Incriminating Evidence was not lost, clean my weapon, and walk calmly into the hallway.
I and my men will remain armed.
When the mob of guards arrives and they damn sure will calmly state

"I am a diplomat of Elbreth, and I come bearing news of betrayal most foul. Count Castor sought to silence me with bribes and threats of death. He committed suicide rather than face honorable justice for his deeds. Take me to the King, that I might uncover this conspiracy and SAVE THE CROWN!.
We wish no further bloodshed here today, Save that of traitors to the King of Miring."

((Gods I hope they're palace guards and loyal to the King. Also, out of character congratulations for your victory at Eelspine, King! I only hope to add some of my own accomplishments to this years work.))

(( Crap, sorry guys! Lost power yesterday evening, and was out all day today. Just reading up, and then I'll post something... But it looks like the alchemist has fallen into enemy hands. >:( ))

Some time later, as a weary, battered and soot-stained Waery finally made his way up through the palace, Trubalsome's shout of rage echoed across the courtyard. "Waery! You fool! You incompetent, thrice-bedamned moronic son of a porkchop!!!"
The lord, who had been tugging off his boots at that moment in preparation for a rejuvinating herbal bath, threw one at his hapless servant with a growl.
Waery, standing just inside the door with his hands folded behind him, remained impassive as the fancy, knee-height green felt boot bounced off his cheek. He replied, "M'Lord, I am sorry, but we couldn' catch 'im. With Kaguro's men on our tails, the little bastard fightin' like a cornered rat, an' the 'ole place coming down around our ears, there was naught we could do."

Trubalsome was staring at Waery from where he sat, his face contorted in a rictus of fury. "So... Let me get this straight. You had this man, this alchemist, in your clutches, and you let him go?! You fail me again, Waery, and God help me I'll smash a poker right through your rotten face!!!" His voice rose to a near-inarticulate scream at the last, and a few specks of spittle sprayed across the room. Wiping them away, he continued, in a slightly calmer tone as he placed his feet in his steaming bath, (perfumed with essential lavender and patchouli oils) "Send a couple of men. Without their insignia this time. Have them find out where this hell-damned alchemist is being kept. Whilst they do that, keep an eye out for signs of the King's return, and find out as much as you can about this Kaguro. Background, where he's from, any nasty secret habits, what he did before becoming a soldier, whatever. Oh, and find me a young, female relative of his Majesty, and request an interview with her."
He allowed himself a slight smirk as he took a pinch of snuff, relaxing with his feet in the bath.
"I doubt any female of any age could resist such a summons from the illustrious Lord of Miring."
Waery said nothing at this, but managed to keep a straight face. Trubaldsome, however, knew the man well, and scowled at his poorly-hidden amusement.
" Get out, moron!! Do as I say, and don't mess up this time! Now piss off, I'm having a bath."
Waery swiftly closed the door as an other boot bounced off of it, and went on his way as his apopleptic lord reached for the snuffbox again.

((Bit long, but oh well :P ))
Have some of my bumbling men ask around after the alchemist, NOT wearing their uniforms this time. At the same time, have people keeping an eye out for signs of the king's return, such as runners, peasants coming in from the country, etc. Lastly, have Waery contact a young relative of the King, requesting a formal interview with Lord Trubaldsome of Miring.

((Oh, I'm not done yet, Kaguro! You've not heard the last of TRUBALDSOME!!))

Less rebels, more political intrigue.

Oh Rebels are fine, Political intrigue is fine. But join as an advisor not a noble to start. As he said, more likely to be granted land and titles. If I survive I am damn sure getting a title. If not..*Shrug* He'll need a new diplomat.

Independant is fine as well. Someone looks to be acting in the Weyland Highlands. And.. Steppe person seems to have wandered off. So theres nothing happening out there. Plenty of options, and you're more than welcome among us Ochita.

Oh and can we put a limit on if you die you make a new character with essencially the exact same adjenda? No offence but what adwarf is doing has me worried about what others might do if their character dies.

OOC: @Ochita, If you want I'm going to be gone for a week after tomorrow, so you could control Jorm at least for that time, then decide what seems interesting to do once I'm back. Otherwise I'll probably hand it off to adwarf if that's ok with the king and gm.

OOC:
This I agree with. There is no reason to fear military defeat or criminal execution if you know that your brother, sister, cousin, mother, father, entire extended family, or best friends are simply going to take up the fight the moment you die. While it may make sense from a story-perspective for an entire family to hold similar ideals, hatreds, and loyalties it does not make sense to assume that the entire family is capable of leading or even the ability to aspire to the level of greatness which all characters in this roleplay are capable of achieving.

Since such a rule wasn't made before adwarf created his new character, this time it's fine. However, I do have two issues, one small and one large. The large issue is with the use of real world place names and cultures. While there are no rules against it, it really does not jive with the rest of the setting in the slightest. Particularly, having the new character hail from a place called "Hiroshima" is in very bad taste.
The smaller issue is the fact that this character looks exactly like the Naruto character it is named after. But compared to the former issue, the latter is completely negligible.

((I quess the look a like thing was completely by accident since I make all my characters like that usually (Didn't mean to give him that name it just popped into my head) as to the family thing Kekashi is the only person left from the village, so if he dies I have to make a new character with different goals, but he already has a different goals he just wants to kill the King, and start a kingdom founded on Magic (In a different place than Elbreth of course)))
