With some thought, the King next listened to and studied Hubris Pontmercy from atop his throne. When the request was made, a smile spread across the monarch's face. "As luck would have it, the royal chef has recently passed away. If you will see one of my regiment Commanders for basic screening, you may gladly take up charge in the kitchen."
It suddenly dawns on Hubris Pontmercy, after standing around aimlessly in the king's court for a long time, that he had been spoken to. "h'Ah, yes m'lord, right away," he blusters, and, bowing deeply, hurries off to find a commander to discuss basic screening.
After answering some basic questions such as "Do you plan to poison the king?" and "Have you ever been affiliated with any rebel organizations?"* you are welcomed into the staff with open arms.
*Coincidentally, these questions bare a striking similarity to the questions one must answer when applying for a visa to visit the UK, Canada, or the US in the real world. Hehehe
Adwarf, I assume you still have that one ducat you got from the Ztah Raiders. Otherwise there isn't anything you can do anyways. Rolling now...
(
2+1=3) Using your sole ducat, you're able to purchase a fair amount of fertilizer from some of the peasants living closest to the Eelspine Range. This makes the land livable, which in turn sets the stage for a town to be built should you find the funds needed for such an endeavor. That is, livable without outside help.
You do not have the money needed in order to construct a wall.
