Why? You're not the DM or the King, it makes little sense. Technicly it's my decision from what Iituem said, I just feel like leaveing it up to the King.

"Ok then we need to claim more land thats our first priority also we need ways to gain funds as an army with no money, has no food, and no food means death." said Hikari as he drew a whetstone across his katana as he sat in front of the campfire with his top three Tarok, Hnery, and Kingsley.

Capture more land, search for ways to make funds, and forage food if nessecary.

You find plenty of farms, some of which are some distance from the towns.  The problem is that due to the road networks in both Brightwatch and Silverbranch allow troops in those provinces to respond more or less instantly to any attacks upon that province.  [Game mechanic:  If there are troops in the province, they are able to defend anywhere within that province.]  There might be undefended farms further afield, but the fact is that you would have to go through these provinces to reach them.

You are wildly successful in soliciting aid from other clans.  Two neighbouring clans offer to bring their raiders into the fray for a tribute payment of 1.5 Ducats each (i.e. 1 regiment raiders for 1.5 Ducats, two for 3).  You also attract the attention of the Great Nahk* himself, the leader of the largest nomad clan in the Steppe.  He is willing to provide no less than 3 raider regiments to your service in return for a tribute payment of 6 Ducats.

[Overshot] However, he is also demanding a cut of 1 Ducat from your recent raids to honour him.  You have until the end of the year to pay up, or he will extract it from your hide.

*Damn you and your naming conventions!

Fair enough then. It was a suggestion though.

@Adwarf: 1 Ducat per parcel if I'm correct.

Upkeep for your troops also costs 1 ducat per year, so you're not actually getting anything into your treasury. Just sayin'.

Capture more land, search for ways to make funds, and forage food if necessary.

(Roll: 4-2)  Your efforts to tame more of this wilderness are unsuccessful.  The Eelspine Mountains really are a barren, tempestuous series of rocks.  Fortunately you do not lose any men during the venture, but if you want to claim more land you might think about putting money into the expedition - assuming you can seize any.

At the end of the year, the land will yield you 1 Ducat in taxes (see OP).  This is an excellent way to raise funds, but you can also try to improve the land (RtD roll, with added difficulty) to increase its tax yields or to negotiate with other players for any money they might have.  You can always try raiding as well, but unless the province is undefended this will almost certainly result in the loss of all your troops in battle.

As correctly pointed out you lose the Ducat you are presently gaining in taxes by upkeeping your existing guard, yes.

Scout the area for signs of people, try to recruit a band of Rangers, and a band of mercenaries also try to improve my lands.

Quote from: Ztah Raiders
[2] You are unable to successfully pull off a hit-and-run raid on the farms in Silverbranch.

(Roll: 5) Your raiders do manage to scoop up 5 Ducats' worth of goods and cattle from the farms before the Brighthall regiments arrive to stop you.

[Battle Roll: 1+2 vs 4+1]

Your men fight bravely as they retreat, employing vicious hit and run tactics until they completely shatter the Brighthall defending regiments.  Both Brighthall regiments are destroyed, but you take heavy losses and your own guard regiment is wiped out in the process.  Because this was technically a success, you are able to escape with the goods you raided.

Brighthall moves 1 regiment from Brightwatch to Silverbranch, leaving 1 regiment in either province.  It is likely that more reinforcements are on their way from central Brighthall.

Quote from: Shizume
[3]  The mountains are largely uninhabited, save for the occasional goatherd.

[5]  Whilst there are not many mercenaries in these barren regions, your envoys are picked up by a company of Suulan Elite Longbowmen, who offer their services at the cost of 1.5 Ducats per regiment.  They have up to three regiments available.  You have no money.

[2-1]  Your efforts to improve your lands prove completely futile.  Unless you can spend money to invest in fertiliser or some other means of developing your site, you cannot make a further attempt to improve your lands this game year.

If you want generals, try recruiting other players.  Lone wolves will likely die quickly in this game.

You haven't asked anyone, to my knowledge.

[3-2]  Your continued efforts to try and locate more arable land in the mountains prove fruitless.  Weariness and frostbite are starting to set in amongst your troops.  If you continue attempting this seemingly-futile task without success, you risk losing men to exposure.

Ztah Raiders:  You cannot rebuild the destroyed guard regiment because it is not a new game year!  Please read the rules carefully.  You may hire the raider mercenaries offered to you at the prices mentioned.  If you are intending to send aid of that kind, state what value in Ducats the goods you are sending have, or else it is assumed you are only sending minor token gifts.
