Commander Draven, you round up your personal guard and that of Lord ly Marchis (total: 2 regiments) and send them north into the relatively lawless regions of Elbreth with the intent of laying down some law.  When you start off, the region is troubled by banditry but unpossessed of organised resistance.

(Roll:6)  You make astounding progress, marching your combined regiments through the hilly regions of the province with great speed.  By the end of the month you have established garrisons and otherwise enforced law through all 6 parcels of land, though in the process you have displaced several former clan chiefs and a number of bandits.

6 parcels of land have been added to the Crown Estates.  They will now be taxed accordingly at the end of the year.

(Roll:2)  Your actions have forced the bandits and clan chiefs of the region to unify against you in an uneasy alliance.  They raise 2 regiments of peasants to oppose you, though before they attempt to retake their lands they issue some demands.

The Bandit Chiefs desire:

+ Amnesty for their former crimes.
+ Return of their sovereign lands.
+ Money
+ Titles

You can try and negotiate your way out of a fight, or else lay down the law at the risk of losing your own troops.

[Should you take this to a fight, bandit regiment strength is 2.  As with all NPCs, you may roll for them.]

Delay negotiations while haveing men set up a battlefield in our favor in secret, send word to the king of this event and their demands, request an extra regiment as back up.

Terenos bows deeply. "I am honored to be among your advisors. As far as diplomats go, My own talents lie in that direction so I would be more than happy to approach the kingdoms of the coast on your behalf.

Oh yes, Its a coast. (4) The nations of Suul, Miring and Preston exist in a state of tenuous peace. Some average farmland, less than average forests, and rich fisheries abound across the length of the settled coast we are aware of. In terms of development they are roughly on par with us.
They would likely be open to more lucrative trade agreements. I also have it on reasonable authority that the nation of Preston supports piracy amongst the fishing vessels of Suul.

(2) My sources are quite limited and they don't speak of any huge amounts of military might. Enough to prevent encroachment by their neighbors of course. And Miring, being in a central location would likely have a slightly larger standing force. However those I spoke to concerning this were simple traders. Their knowledge of things may be somewhat less than thorough.
(1) Alas, that is the extent of my first hand knowledge. Perhaps more can be gathered as a result of a diplomatic mission to those three kingdoms. It is my advice that we approach Preston first as they seem the most militarily inclined. Alternatively we could approach Suul with offers of aid."

A small yet well-appointed column of mounted soldiers clatter along the streets of the capital to the palace, an overdressed young peacock of a man at their head, trailing bits of silk and gaudy feathers from his clothes.
He swings down from the saddle, imperiously hands the reigns to a footman and struts into the castle, followed by a rather morose-looking old soldier clad in battle-worn leathers.

"Greetings your majesty, and many congratulations on your appointment," the young man says as he enters the throneroom, his voice cultured and softly-spoken, "I am Trubaldsome of Miring, as I am sure you know, my kingdom has long been a staunch ally of the last king, rest his soul. My father, Langsuffryn, led the armies in support of Elbreth in all its wars until his untimely death, which I most certainly had nothing to do with."
He pauses, raising a hand before his face and taking a deep sniff from a long trail of scented silk bursting from his cuff to compose himself. "Ah yes, such a pity. But anyway, I am sidetracked by my grief," he says, not appearing to be any such thing, "I wish to serve your kingship, as my forebears have long served yours. I have brought a small force of men-at-arms, we are at your service."
With that said, he sweeps his oversized, richly embroidered blue hat from his head, and bows deeply before the king.

OOC: Name: Lord Trubaldsome of Miring.
Just tell me if I did anything wrong! I didn't see anyone else laying claim to Miring when I looked...

That depends.  Is Lord Trubaldsome a Miring noble defecting to Elbreth, or are you wanting to take on the mantle of the King of Miring?

You can declare yourself an independent and raise 1 regiment of personal guard for free.  It's all in the rules.  You might wish to make demands, or else try and capture some land through force of arms.  Expect the King to respond appropriately.

Unless the King says otherwise, that would appear to be acceptable.

A young man stands before a small group of soldiers, and after several moments of silence he says "This lands king is unjust for it is not a single man that should rule a country, but all of the people of that country are the ones who should decide what happens. That is our goal to dethrone the king, and instead of replacing him with yet another tyrant we will set in place a council made up of representatives that are elected by teh people so that it will be just for all. Now forward we must go our first target is to take some of the lawless lands of this country, and make them ours." with that he turned, and began to walk forward towards a small village on  the outskirts of the kingdom to take it under his control.

Capture some of the empty lawless lands of the kingdom as ours, the Shadow's Circle, and take it in the name of the people, and our leader, Hikari Shizume.

The formerly lawless lands have recently been pacified (see above).  You will need to take them from the Crown, and quite possibly the bandit chiefs also laying claim to the land.  This seems as good a time as any for a status update on Elbreth, though.

Quote from: The Province of Elbreth
The Province of Elbreth
Open Land
14 Parcels [The Crown]: 14 Ducats/year

Markets/Ports
Sheepstead Market [The Crown]: 3 Ducats/year
+ 1 land parcel [The Crown]: 1 Ducat/year

Towns
Sheepstead [The Crown]: 2 Ducats/year
+ 1 land parcel [The Crown]: 1 Ducat/year

Armies in the Province
The Royal Army - [Crown]
- 3 infantry regiments [Crown]

Draven's Noble Forces - [Crown]
- 2 sole guard regiments [Draven, yl Marchis]

Bandit Chiefs - [Rebel]
- 2 peasant regiments [Bandits]

Shadow Circle Forces - [Shizume]
- 1 guard regiment [Shizume]
