((Nope as I've stated before Trubaldsome has 2 older brothers, do to being the middle child of 5.  Granted who knows what's up with the second eldest, perhaps.. he's the puppeteer behind the king's near assassination?  I dunno I wasn't keeping up with that story line much. ))

((Yes! I was thinking about that! I figured there would have been a good chance that he would have been killed [Though obviously not a guarantee] Unless he was not in the Castle at the time for whatever reason [Behind the plot] suppose we'll have to leave that up to King/GM. But my understanding was that his brother was on the throne therefore the one terenos saved.))

((Damnit! Rumour mill, inform me! >:( Well, I'm sure Trubalsome never expected the entire. Freaking. Court to wipe itself out, especially without his help! :P
And I have no idea what the timeline is with Lueki being on the throne, or who the new guy is, or if Leuki is still the king. ))

OOC:
Iituem is free to contradict me here, but I'm currently ruling that the current King was the first of five brothers. Trubaldsome was the third. We don't yet know what fate has befallen the second brother or what role he plays in the rebellion, if any. The fifth brother is still too young, and the fourth is lame due to an injury whilst acting as a squire for one of the court's knights.
This way Trubaldsome's defecting to Elbreth make sense, and it also adds some drama/plot by potentially having Trubaldsome be next in line for the throne or damned close. If the second brother is overseas at the moment, a rebel, or something else that precludes his ability to rule should the present King fall than Trubaldsome, by all rights, can claim the throne. The people and nobles may or may not accept him right off the bat. I imagine that would come down to a roll.

((Well, for now, Trubalsome is still completely unaware of events back home in Miring, so... ))

Some time later, Trubaldsome strode across to the connecting door to his newly-promoted servant's room and flung it open, catching the man along with several of his fellows, drinking heavily, no-doubt in celebration.
"You lot! Get out!" The rest of them scattered out into the hallway, and Trubaldsome turned to the guilty-looking young soldier, (Who we'll call Feodair) frowning.
"Do you think I gave you this room to throw parties in, you fool? No boozing in here. If you wish to do such, go down to the taver in town, understood?" "Y-yes!" "Yes sir!!"
The soldier startled by the sudden shout, jumped backwards and tripped over his seat, knocking a couple of bottles to the floor. "Yes sir!" He managed, biting back curses.

"Now... As for your task." Trubaldsome eyed Feodair critically, mouth and moustache turning down at the corners in disapproval. "I want you to send someone into town, out of uniform, naturally, to observe Kauro's men. Tell them discreetly, damnit! Then, I want you to find me some oil. Cheap. Pay for it with one of those banknotes that fool Waery made."
The lord's attention drifted from the soldier to his snuffbox, which squeaked again as he raised the lid for a sniff.
The soldier remained standing at attention, watching Trubaldsome fearfully as he put his snuffbox away.
Trubaldsome looked back to him. And waited. The soldier, looking puzzled, remained where he was.
"Now, damnit! Get gone!"
Feodair clattered hastily down the stairs from the castle, and Trubaldsome moved back into his room with a sigh.
"Ah, Erika," He said, feigning tiredness as he sat down in his luxurious seat, running a hand through his blond hair.
"You see what I do for you? All this, to protect you from Kaguro. And what do you reward me with?! You still refuse to testify! I only aim to aid you, to protect you, to save your life! Your life, and countless others!"
He rose to his feet to look down at Erika with thunderous disapproval, his voice rising as he spoke.
"You would cower meekly in fear here, allowing that filthy, god-damned monster to strike again?!"
His voice rose to a shout here, sending poor terrified Erika cowering back against the couch. Then he turned away, partially for effect, mostly to take a discreet pinch from his squeaky-hinged snuffbox.
"Why, oh why," He went on, voice settled now, reasonable in tone, "Do I allow such a callous girl safe haven in my quarters? A girl who will not speak out, yes, speak out to end this madman's reign of terror?" He looked back to her, gesturing widely with his arms. "Do you not see, how many people's lives you could save?! You think you are his only victim? Think how you would feel, if you were a peasant, with no safe, warm quarters in which to hide?"
He shook his head slowly and moved over to his desk, removing his coat and hanging it from a nearby hook before sitting down to write some sappy poetry about himself.
"Quite frankly, for such a pretty girl, within you truly are a cruel heart, to not take your chance to help so many."

Send some men, out-of-uniform, to observe Kaguro's soldiers, noting down their uniforms, actions and such. Then use a combination of being scary and appealing to her conscience in an attempt to convince Erika to testify against Kaguro, for the 'good of many'.

(5) Your ununiformed soldiers report back a few days later. It would appear that Kaguro's personal regiment is doing little more than basic guard duty. And that's when they're on duty. However, there appears to be a higher concentration of guards, both Royal and loyal to Kaguro, at the Royal Barracks. One would surmise that this is where the Alchemist is currently kept.

(6) Simultaneously terrifying and terrifyingly accusatory, you're able to convince Erika that she is a horrible, evil person for not testifying against Kaguro. This, however, goes too far and soon the poor young girl snaps. Entering a deep melancholy, she now spends most of her time quietly sobbing and is essentially unresponsive.

OOC:
I completely forgot about the messenger. Yes, he should have arrived near the end of the siege. Likely a day or so before.
King Erik can't actually do anything at the moment though. Since he, and any runners and troops he might send to defuse the situation, are currently trapped in Eelspine due to severe snow storms.
