It is now the year 315a

Event Consequences

Sheepstead Fires, Instability: [4-1] The continued instability has not helped the mood in Sheepstead, where citizens have been dismayed at the burning down of the palace amongst other things.  Erik's recent military successes however have spurred on a sense of patriotism that has worked to keep the state intact despite dissatisfaction with noble feuding.

Conquest of Preston:  [1,6] The conquest of Preston has caused a great outpouring of refugees from the city.  Not only has the population decreased by 3 taxmen, some have fled to Miring instead!  In a slightly perverse twist Port Preston's prosperity has actually increased to 7 Prosperity due to the reduced competition, but one more taxman departs Preston because the vicious business tactics of the profiteers put hundreds out of business.

Conquest of Miring:  Miring's population has been slaughtered to a bare minimum already and cannot lose any more from having been conquered.  [5] Spurred on by patriotism, most of the Mirish businessmen in Port Sleen are willing to stay for now.  This is not a position that is likely to hold for long - unless the King can improve the Trade Potential of Miring back up to 11 (either by securing access to 12 resources through trade, developing 4 new industries in Miring or a mixture of the two) then the prosperity of the port will decrease to its new limit at the end of the year.

Anti-Elbrethan Sentiment in Miring
[6] The good news is that most of the citizens of Miring are willing to accept Sir Taric as being the guilty party responsible for their acts of genocide.  They cannot ignore the willingness of the Crown troops to follow his orders, but their victory against said troops has gone a long way to sating their bloodlust.  Provided sufficient reparations or concessions are made to the population, they will probably accept some sort of deal with Elbreth.  Distrust of Elbreth's honour will likely remain high for many years.

Mirish Religious Revival!
[4]  Although the likelihood of the new King's reign lasting is slim, word travels quickly about his re-dedication of the country to the Old Gods.  The close proximity of Suul kept Miring firmly in the grip of Orthodoxy for centuries, but after the slaughter of two thirds of the population and the unlikely victory during the Battle of Miring victory has been attributed in large part to a return to the Old Gods.  The citizens have spontaneously rededicated the local Orthodox church to Mirish Paganism.  Orthodoxy has changed from the majority to the minority in Miring, and the province's chief religion is now Old Mirish Paganism.

The church is technically under the authority of the city, as a religious leader has not yet emerged to try and take control of the re-emerging church.  It will produce tithes based on the prevalence of the faith.

The Dead Plains
[3]  Rumours from hunters and travellers through the Dead Plains report that the Plains are becoming even more dry and barren than before.  Wildlife is leaving the area as the last of the plants die out and the whole region starts turning into wasteland.

A Brewer's Farewell
[2+1]  The Royal Brewer hired two years before to assist with the rebel siege at Shizume's Camp has leveraged his position to start a successful business.  He is now selling up, having expressed a desire to move to the Storm Coast and learn from the master brewers there, but has made a gift of 2 Ducats to the Elbrethan Treasury.

Suulian Expungence of Heresy
[1-1+1] Suul expends resources countering the fire in the city, but the damage and loss of life is sufficient to negatively impact its attempts to deal with the surge in religious tensions in the city.

[2-1] With the Jorgumundist rebellion crushed, the chief rabble-rousers are the relatively small but influential Cyclicist sect of the Order of the Burning Circle.  They take up the cause of violent opposition to the Archbishop and are put down and expelled from the city.  Many rich and influential Cyclicists follow them and depart for Elbreth, taking their wealth with them and having a large impact on the acceptance of Cyclicism in the mainstream population.

Elbreth province's religion flips from Orthodoxy to Cyclicism.  The Cyclicist Temple in Eelspine's tithes raise to 3d/year.

[6-1] After the Cyclicists are dealt with, Suul is able to root out the Pagan sympathisers.  Rather than force them to convert, the Archbishop is willing to allow them to freely leave the city rather than dissent.  This backfires as a surprisingly large measure of the population leaves for the more tolerant city of Miring.

Suul loses 1 taxman.  1 taxman arrives as a refugee in Miring.

Mirish Refugees:  The refugees from Preston and Suul would add 2 extra taxmen to Miring's population, if they are accepted.  Even though space has technically been 'vacated' by Sir Taric's acts of genocide, the tensions between Miring, Suul and Preston have not been forgotten (especially the declaration of war by Preston on Miring) - this may lead to civil instability in the future.

Town & Market Growth

Elbreth: The urban potential has been reached.  The trade potential has been reached.
North Eelspine: [1-1] No growth.
Preston: [4-4] No growth.
Miring:  [1-3] No growth.  Trade potential exceeded.

Annual Events

[4] Good Harvest:  Fair weather favours the kingdom well this year, so the harvest is above average.  10% bonus to all land tax (rounded down).

Kain sighed and looked at the papers again...sighing another time when he saw that the figures were still in the negative...Suddenly an idea dawned on Kain...his pride would take a blow, but still it was important...

Ask for another meeting with the king...

Renard set his men to work once again they were setting out to search the coast for a good place to claim some land, and start a pirate haven. "Jack get all hands on deck we are taking off !!" Renard bellowed as he took the helm, and began to steer the ship out of the port heading southwards down the coast.

Look for a place to start a Pirate Haven

((wait...Drua just set sail...well time to edit my post...)

After staying for so long in the hills of Elbreth, it was good to see the sea again. Locanil saw the fishermen and the sailors the traders and the officers. The populace of a harbour. He was in Suul looking for Lady Drua, it taken some time to reach Suul and get to the docks, especially when you traveled on foot and looked like a demon to the people of the land. But he had traveled through Suul before, and a few even remembered his passing so fewer threatened death and burning this time around.

Locanil today was wondering the docks looking for the Lady Drua's ship. Perhaps it would be gallant and great; perhaps a small thing, he did not. Course he could have always taken a ship home...But that would be shameful Locanil believed he had found her.

Drua was on a ship, but not in a preferable state. It was on the move and on the winds.

Locanil shouted

"Drua wait! I'm to sail with you!"

The Mask shakes his head at the turn of events. It was as he suspected. In order for him to be able to have agents to do his work, he would require money. As of late, he had none. It was time to fix this.

Have a private audience with King Erik.

Planning the attack...

With the taxes coming in the Steward smiled happily, seemingly forgetting the crushing victory that had happened recently. "Yes..." He said, his voice an inaudible whisper. "With this money we will raise our troops! The McKinleys will fall!"He roared, his voice quickly changing to a loud tone. A crazy gleam filled his eye and he begin thinking of what soldiers will be needed.

After he finished thinking up the plans he gathered the required regiments and told them the plan. "Well, we rose too high and we fell too hard. Too bad for them, though, we're taking it back. If everything goes according to plan then we should have the land back. Now, listen carefully, this will determine life or death. I want the the strong, claymore wielding soldiers up front." He continued telling them the plan, scratching a crudely drawn map into the dirt. The end result was just the heavy berserkers leading the charge with the regular infantry regiments following up

Before the attack...

The Doctor smiled at the soldier appearing in front of him. Luck is finally turning my way, ha.... He thought, leaning forward in the throne and giving the soldier a task. "Eh, Max, I am thinking that perhaps I do have some work for you. See, there is this man who wants me dead. This man is opposing my efforts to expand, as well. I cannot have this, so I ask you to rid me of this man." He smiled at the soldier, thinking over the plan carefully. Perhaps this could work after all... But what are the chances? The Doctor thought again, continuing with telling the man of the task. "The man is the Jarl of the McKinleys, an ppposing tribe to the West of here. I want you to go there, pretend to be wanting to work for him and gain an audience with the man. Try to smuggle in some weapons, though. Then, when you're in his little throne room or whatever, I want you to kill him. Then cut off his head, put it in a bag and get out of there. If you come back here without his head... well, let's just say you shouldn't come back without his head." He clapped his hands together and stood up, waving towards the door. "You can leave now, I have things to see to."

Raise 3 regular infantry regiments.
Raise 1 heavy berserker regiment
Raise 2 Berserker tactician regiments.
Attempt to regain two parcels of land with 2 regular infantry regiments, 1 heavy berserker regiment and 2 berserker tactician regiment. If we lose 2 regiments then retreat.
Tactics: Have the 2 regular infantry regiments attack up front with the heavy berserkers. While they are attacking have 1 berserker tactician regiment flank from the east and the other from the west.
Before the battle search for possible advantages we could use.

((Unless Jormund has a specific plan for his personal guard then just have them attack with the regular infantry))

The Doctor shook his head quickly. "No. If the McKinleys catch even a hint of us in Weybridge than you will most likely be executed. To top that off, how am I supposed to get soldiers baring Manskinner's symbol into Weybridge, the Capital of the McKinley's land? I am sorry, but I am afraid you will have to travel there like you did here."

Jormund has been biding his time for the most part, during the winter, simply waiting for an opportunity to attack. When he heard that Johnston was once again was raising troops he was dead set on aiding them. Maybe he could finally be victorious in battle for once. Jormund went around to the soldiers and fighters that he knew and tried to gain their support in helping him. Eventually he had enough men and they were well enough equipped that he felt like he would make a difference in the upcoming battle against the McKinleys.

Jormund raises a personal guard and upgrades them to tactician berserkers (I should have 1 ducat from the parcel of land I own). They're to take part in the battle against the McKinleys, but retreat when the others do as well.

McJohnston sighed, massaging his temples for several seconds and then replied to Max. "If the Jarl sees a group of armed men approaching his towns, Weybridge nonetheless, who he doesn't know you'll still be killed. If you can't do it out in the open then do it while he's sleeping. To be honest, Max, I couldn't care how you do it. As long as you make sure Manskinner, McJohnston or anything that can be connected to this land isn't mentioned." His voice growing angrier as the soldier continued asking questions.

Aulon yl Marchis smiled as he removed the last pieces of his armor and let the men carry them away. It felt good to be in his own clothes again.Yl Marchis was beginning to understand why his father so much liked leading the troops on campaigns. His men looked at him in a whole new way, and the Mirish troops cheered when he went past. He'd led them to victory, and they respected him now.

He was still having trouble to believe his gambit had actually succeeded, and so well. Taric was at his mercy - bound and gagged and under guard by his own men - and the scouts reported Terenos' fleet had left. The only thing that remained now was convincing Trubaldsome not to destroy his new kingdom.
That was what he was going to do next, as soon as he found the man.

The King was to be found at the edge of the battlefield, looking somewhat dumbfounded. Aulon doubted Trubaldsome had participated in the battle, though he thought he'd seen Waery at one point.

'A great victory, my friend, don't you think?' Aulon called as he approached. 'Your people fight well.'

He nodded to Waery and guided the King away by the arm.

'We'll have time to celebrate later. Right now, we need to discuss the future of your kingdom.' Aulon said. 'The way I see it, we have two options. This was still a force we could defeat, but if King Erik decides to attack, this castle will fall and you with it. That's why we need to convince Erik we aren't a threat to him.'

'With your permission, I'm writing a letter to him of our victory against two traitors and leaving shortly after myself to discuss the details. At the very least, we'll have to offer him an alliance. I doubt he'll agree to anything less than vassalization, but I'm sure concessions can be made to satisfy both sides. I think that exemption from crown taxes and severe punishments for the dog, Sir Taric should be a good starting point, though I'll be sure to mention any other demands you might have.'

Aulon paused. 'But if you're dead-set against allying with Elbreth, there is another option. You could request aid from other nations, such as my father's holdings. But with the state of Miring, you'd be in our debt for years to come. It's your choice. But the more time we waste here doing nothing, the more time Terenos d'Avistral has to poison the mind of the King with his lies.'

Meng approached the bear again, this time with the back leg of an elk. He'd been paid in advance so this was damn well going to work, it wasn't just this bear either, the Nahk wanted a whole regiment of ferocious bears! It might take a cycle of the moon possibly two but Meng was thrilled at having more money than he could ever dream of.

Continue taming the bears.
