It is now the year 315aEvent ConsequencesSheepstead Fires, Instability: [4-1] The continued instability has not helped the mood in Sheepstead, where citizens have been dismayed at the burning down of the palace amongst other things. Erik's recent military successes however have spurred on a sense of patriotism that has worked to keep the state intact despite dissatisfaction with noble feuding.
Conquest of Preston: [1,6] The conquest of Preston has caused a great outpouring of refugees from the city. Not only has the population decreased by
3 taxmen, some have fled to Miring instead! In a slightly perverse twist Port Preston's prosperity has actually increased to
7 Prosperity due to the reduced competition, but one more
taxman departs Preston because the vicious business tactics of the profiteers put hundreds out of business.
Conquest of Miring: Miring's population has been slaughtered to a bare minimum already and cannot lose any more from having been conquered. [5] Spurred on by patriotism, most of the Mirish businessmen in Port Sleen are willing to stay for now. This is not a position that is likely to hold for long - unless the King can improve the Trade Potential of Miring back up to 11 (either by securing access to 12 resources through trade, developing 4 new industries in Miring or a mixture of the two) then the prosperity of the port will decrease to its new limit at the end of the year.
Anti-Elbrethan Sentiment in Miring[6] The good news is that most of the citizens of Miring are willing to accept Sir Taric as being the guilty party responsible for their acts of genocide. They cannot ignore the willingness of the Crown troops to follow his orders, but their victory against said troops has gone a long way to sating their bloodlust. Provided sufficient reparations or concessions are made to the population, they will probably accept some sort of deal with Elbreth. Distrust of Elbreth's honour will likely remain high for many years.
Mirish Religious Revival![4] Although the likelihood of the new King's reign lasting is slim, word travels quickly about his re-dedication of the country to the Old Gods. The close proximity of Suul kept Miring firmly in the grip of Orthodoxy for centuries, but after the slaughter of two thirds of the population and the unlikely victory during the Battle of Miring victory has been attributed in large part to a return to the Old Gods. The citizens have spontaneously rededicated the local Orthodox church to Mirish Paganism. Orthodoxy has changed from the majority to the minority in Miring, and the province's chief religion is now
Old Mirish Paganism.
The church is technically under the authority of the city, as a religious leader has not yet emerged to try and take control of the re-emerging church. It will produce tithes based on the prevalence of the faith.
The Dead Plains[3] Rumours from hunters and travellers through the Dead Plains report that the Plains are becoming even more dry and barren than before. Wildlife is leaving the area as the last of the plants die out and the whole region starts turning into wasteland.
A Brewer's Farewell[2+1] The Royal Brewer hired two years before to assist with the rebel siege at Shizume's Camp has leveraged his position to start a successful business. He is now selling up, having expressed a desire to move to the Storm Coast and learn from the master brewers there, but has made a gift of
2 Ducats to the Elbrethan Treasury.
Suulian Expungence of Heresy[1-1+1] Suul expends resources countering the fire in the city, but the damage and loss of life is sufficient to negatively impact its attempts to deal with the surge in religious tensions in the city.
[2-1] With the Jorgumundist rebellion crushed, the chief rabble-rousers are the relatively small but influential Cyclicist sect of the Order of the Burning Circle. They take up the cause of violent opposition to the Archbishop and are put down and expelled from the city. Many rich and influential Cyclicists follow them and depart for Elbreth, taking their wealth with them and having a large impact on the acceptance of Cyclicism in the mainstream population.
Elbreth province's religion flips from Orthodoxy to Cyclicism. The Cyclicist Temple in Eelspine's tithes raise to 3d/year.[6-1] After the Cyclicists are dealt with, Suul is able to root out the Pagan sympathisers. Rather than force them to convert, the Archbishop is willing to allow them to freely leave the city rather than dissent. This backfires as a surprisingly large measure of the population leaves for the more tolerant city of Miring.
Suul loses 1 taxman. 1 taxman arrives as a refugee in Miring.Mirish Refugees: The refugees from Preston and Suul would add 2 extra taxmen to Miring's population, if they are accepted. Even though space has technically been 'vacated' by Sir Taric's acts of genocide, the tensions between Miring, Suul and Preston have not been forgotten (especially the declaration of war by Preston on Miring) - this may lead to civil instability in the future.
Town & Market GrowthElbreth: The urban potential has been reached. The trade potential has been reached.
North Eelspine: [1-1] No growth.
Preston: [4-4] No growth.
Miring: [1-3] No growth. Trade potential exceeded.
