Have Taricus Bond, Gaged, adn Guarded brought to the gates agree to let him go if they leave these lands for two years if not we will execute him on the spot. Also spend 1 Ducat, and have the citizens help make farmland to feed our people, and prpare the soldiers for battle.

Taricus: [4]  Fortunately, with all the activity going on and trying to both train new soldiers, build fortifications and organise a village full of refugees, guard discipline is lax.  You are able to steal a dagger, kill the pair of guard watching you and escape with your armour and weapons.  Sadly, you were blindfolded during your trip to Shizume's Camp and do not have the time whilst escaping to make serious observations about the defences.

Shizume: [2]  You prepare to extort the king with his hostage, only to find that he has escaped and murdered the guards.

[6+1-2]  You put your men to work at breaking down the harsh soil for planting, hiring a Suulian gardener to proffer advice.  You are successful enough, and with the next year you can expect an additional parcel of land to be available for harvest.  With luck, this should solve the food problem.

Unfortunately, your expenditure of so much money on peaceful concerns when the defence of your camp is so imminent wreaks havoc on soldier morale.  Insurbordination is becoming a problem and there are rumours going around the camp questioning your manliness and courage.  This is not a problem yet, but it could become one if left unchecked.

Shizume acquires an extra parcel of land.  Discipline problems are besetting his troops, with his actions perceived as weakness in the face of danger.

I'm kind of wondering if the leader of the raiders is even still active. My whole diplomacy mission might be wasted if the man we're looking for is no longer around. If they still don't respond shortly I'd like to try and locate other raiders that might be interested in joining our cause. I know there's plenty of other raiders that might be interested if the one that helped us before isn't willing.

If they wanted to though, the leader could most likely raise some more troops of his own(it's a new year since their personal guard was killed).

It's been a total of one day since he was last active.  Give the man some time, aye?

[1]  Your attempts to recruit raiders from the Ztah Steppe are unsuccessful.  Horribly, horribly unsuccessful.  You are chased out of the Steppe after several of your bodyguards are scalped.  It seems unlikely that you will be able to recruit further help from here.

Hopefully my message to the raider that once helped us is still received, but I head back to the mountains and inform adwarf about my seemingly unsuccessful attempt.

Hikari stand before the gathered forces of his men, and begins speaking "I know that you believe I am coward of this I cna tell you I am not I will stand here in this place with you, and fight to the end against the foe that now bears its fangs at us. Well when the day comes that they wish for a fight we will show them that we have of the Shadow's Circle are worth ten of them for one of us. We will show them what happens when you fight a foe who fights for the people, and we will fight to the end to show this belief. We are the Shadow's Circle an army made to preserve the rights of our people. We will not back down, we will not give in to there demands, and we will fight them tooth, adn nail to protect our beliefs, our lands, and our people. If it is a war they want we will give it to them, and they will feel the pain of our oppression as we ravage their ranks. To the end we will fight, and I will stand there with you no matter the number we will put all we have into this war. We must survive to protect oru families, loved ones, and friends this is a war we can not afford to lose." As the last words echo through the camp the men begin to cheer, and Hikari turns, and walks to his tent.

There he begins to prepare for war as he puts on his father's army, and takes up his sword as he grasps the hilt, and draws the unique curved blade he says "This is all that remains of my village is this, and. We are, but relics of the past that now haunts the kingdom what the so called 'King' did to take his thrown caused my villages destruction, and we only wished for the rights of the people to be higher than the right of the King, and for that we had our huts burned, our people killed, adn our church desecrated. In this coming battle 'King' you will feel the vengence of my village as our blades destroy your men."

((Can I join as a Crusading religious order? How much leeway would I have in developing the Kingdom's religion? If Religious Order is out, I'd still like to join as a High-born Noble!))

You could join as a religious crusader and/or cleric/abbot/whatever.  Whether the king will accept the religion you propose is up to the king.  The king's religion hasn't been specified thus far and so I leave it in his hands to decide.

Grand Master Knavston Black had waited some time for an audience with the King. He promised himself that he would not waste it.
Born to a high-born noble, Master Black used what wealth he had to further the cause of the Cyclicists. Now he hoped that the King was a religious man and willing to help their cause as well.

"Your Majesty, My name is Knavston Black, Grand Master of the Order of the Burning Circle. My men and I have long to help this realm. It is beset on all sides by godless heathens, heretics and rebels who deny your true place as the messenger from God. I ask that you grant my order land and ducats so that we can build a chruch in the name of God. Then we can call a march on the lands that are justly yours. If it please you, my Guard and I will travel and fight with you as you see fit."

A nearby scribe offers a scroll with collected information on the Order and the Cyclicism religion to better make a decision

Quote
Information on Cyclicism and Cyclicists:

Cyclicists believe that their actions not only define who they are, but who they will be in their next life. All actions whether good or bad affect your standing in your next life when you are reborn. Good deeds, (such as helping your neighbour, obeying the laws and going/tithing regularly to the church) will see your spirit inhabit a better body and status.
Bad deeds will see your spirit's stock diminish. It is only the truly pure of spirit, heart and mind who ascend to heaven.
Godless heathens and heretics are considered the lowest rung and they are looked down upon if they refuse to convert.
Kings are seen as next to god in the eyes of Cyclists. Pure spirits returned from Heaven to help guide the people.

Information on the Order of the Burning Circle:
The Order of the Burning Circle is a militarized arm of the Cyclicists. Charged with spreading the word of Cyclicism to the masses, and defending the innocent from the heathens and heretics in this world.
They have a great desire to remove heretics from the world. Usually with fire. They claim it is the best way to cleanse a spirit and send it on it's journey towards a better rebirth.
They are extremely loyal to the monarchy and hope to win his favour by crusading for lost artifacts and reclaiming lands lost to heretics.
