No, because it is largely unmapped.  The King will have to sponsor expeditions to map unmapped lands.  What you do know is that, being largely a rocky, mountainous waste there are no major settlements there to speak of.

Spoiler: OOC (click to show/hide)

Naturally, it is Aulon yl Marchis' regiment which is wiped out in the battle. Even the king would prefer lowly mercenaries be on the front-line before his men.

Obviously Armok the Jester has been hired. What kind of court would this be without a jester?

The King scratched his chin, contemplating the information that Terenos had presented him with. It was just as he opened his mouth to speak that Lord Trubaldsome made his appearance. The King's eyes lit up.
"Lord Trubaldsome, it is an honor to have you in my court. We shall gladly accept your aid, and you could not have come at a more fortuitous time, for my Advisor and I have been discussing the diplomatic relations of the nations surrounding your own. Perhaps you could tell us what you know of Preston and Suul's military strength?"

He then turned his attention to Sir Taric. "Sir, you may rise. 'twould be an honor to have you and your men serve at my side."

Some time passes as the victors return to the palace...

"I am pleased with your success, General Kaguro. And yours as well, Lord yl Marchis. You may speak to my Steward for your reward, yl Marchis. I trust that the ducats will be put forth to rebuilding and defending the lands that are now under your control. General, I would have you remain at my side though you may move to visit the parcels of land that now fall under your control as well. Though this word of rebellions disturbs me."

Rewards: Two ducats to Lord Yl Marchis, as well as two parcel of land. Two parcels of land and two ducats to General Kaguro. I believe that leaves 10 parcels of land that have yet to be given out to lords.

The King then turns his attention to Sir Taric: "I am afraid that I must send you and your men on a quest, so soon after arriving at my court. As you may have overheard, there is a rebellion spreading elsewhere in my empire. I must trust you to track them down and gather what information you can. You need not engage their forces yet, unless you are assured of victory. Whence you return, speak to none but myself and the General."

Finally, how many horses can be found within the kingdom? Is it enough to form a mounted regiment or mounted regiments?

Drua steps into the throne room, nodding politely at the guards. She curtsies in front of the King, then makes her requests.

"My Liege, it is always an honour to be blessed with your presence. I have a request that I believe could further both the Kingdom, your meals, and my experiments. I wish to conduct both a diplomatic mission to the east of our kingdom, trying to strengthen our relations with the kingdoms of Preston, Miring, and the Archbishopric of Suul. I would do my best to survey their lands, meet with their leaders, and determine the strength of their forces and their wealth. At the same time, I'll be there to document and retrieve some herbs and metals that aren't easily available here. For example, near the western edge of the Archbishopric of Suul is a lovely grove of willow trees that has the most exquisite charcoal for experiments, and in Preston there's a mine of..."

She rambles on for a few moments, about wonderful lilies that could be used as decoration that are found in the ponds of Miring, the funny way charcoal reacts with boiled saltpeter and wood ashes when she was trying to make a medicine and how she almost lost her eyebrows but pulled back at the last moment, and fields of flowers that make the most delicious toppings, then stops, realizing she's droning on and on. She blushes, then continues, "Ahem. As I was saying, I'd like to conduct a mission to improve our relations with the three kingdoms to our east, find and document sources of useful materials to our east, and make assessments of the status of each kingdom. I think this would be really useful for the Kingdom, so I humbly request a single Ducat to help me on the mission, but if it is not provided, I shall continue on...with your blessing, of course."

The King listens to Drua, his poise unaffected by her rambling. At the end of her request, he deliberates for a moment, and then replies "You have my permission, and shall be given a ducat with which to set out on this quest. But you shall not leave right away, for I intend to send Terenos out on a similar task. Whilst I am certain that you would both be safe in Miring, Preston and Suul are presently warring and I would not send either of you into danger until further information is to be had and regiments have been raised to guard you on your travels."

Obviously we're now raising two regiments to accompany both Terenos and Drua. That's 2 ducats, if I'm not mistaken. We definitely have the land for it.

"I thank you for this honor my leige, I will do my best to win victory for you on the battlefield." Take my leave to train with the army for future battles while mostly remaining in the Capital for the King's call. Spend both of my Ducats trying to have a town built on one of my land parcels to improve it and the surrounding area.

Wait, really? Err... I mean, thank you, my liege. I will rule the lands you have graciously gifted me fairly and honourably. To make sure no rebellious elements remain in the lands, I will organize a new guard from the remains of my bodyguards and the peasants.

Quote from: Land/Regiments
Lord yl Marchis' lands
2 parcels: 2 Ducats/year - Raising Personal Guard (Is this free or not, seeing as I already had an old personal guard?)

Quote from: Current Funds
2 ducats

I think you're allowed to raise a single regiment from that, it just won't be a personal guard. And it will cost a ducat, because it won't be a personal guard. You also won't be able to raise any further regiments from those lands this year, as the soldiers came from your only land.

Taricus, we don't know where the rebels are at the moment (I don't think), so your job is to find them. Once that's done the King will presumably send reinforcements so that we can ensure a victory.

Though there is no excess of horses in these hilly regions, there are enough that you could raise one brigade of cavalry per year.  You will need to gain access to plains, steppe or a trading agreement with a country with countryside more suited to horses if you desire unfettered access to cavalry.

Cavalry:  Costs 2 Ducats to hire, 2 Ducats to upkeep.  Military Strength of 2/regiment.  Manpower requirement double that of infantry (i.e. requires 4 parcels of land to hire one regiment/year).  Possessing even one cavalry regiment in an army gives a +1 to battles on plains, steppe or other open fields.  Bonus is negated in hilly, mountainous or heavily forested regions, or when besieging a walled fortress.

DH: You cannot raise a new personal guard this year, since your old one was wiped out, but you do get to spend 1 Ducat to raise a regiment of good old fashioned infantry from your new lands.

I'll let Thatkid do these rolls in future, but...

KaguroDraven: [5+2-1]  Your prestige in battle and willingness to spend money on developing your new lands attracts peasants from all the scattered, formerly lawless hills.  Within a few short months the village you establish is already becoming a small town, based primarily around the wool industry.

You found a new town.  The town covers 1 parcel of land and grants 2 Ducats/year in tax.  You may name your new town.

Since you do not have a personal guard, your attract one in the form of a regiment of archers.  This does not cost you anything.

Taricus:  Your investigations suggest that the rebels fled somewhere to the south, possibly into the mountains, though you do not have an exact location.
