I had this fortress which had two bronze colosses at the same time. Other one arrived while the first one was still throwing around remnants of my army. Yeah, it was my first colossus I ever saw and seriosly undrmined it's strenght. Anyways, after my angry mob took it down I didn't bother cleaning up it's trail and abandoned.
This was long time ago and now I felt like reclaiming that fort. Unfortunately the other colossus had taken my fortress as it's playground and was toppling down statues inside. I figured I could take it with raw force and rushed my every single dwarf to take it down. At last I met the colossus and it was quickly surrounded and whacked all around.
Then the mysterious thing happened, I looked it's wounds and noticed that it had no eyes. I don't remember if colosses had any eyes at all, but this one had two dark grey (missing) eyes. As far as I remember nobody even touched that coloss while the fort still going. I guess it had bad luck, but the lack of eyes didn't seem to bother it. :p
So I continued observing the battle as much as I could from all the miasma and was worried because my dwarfs were only causing lots of light grey wounds. I contiunued to spectate the battle, but next time I looked at it's wounds, I noticed that almost all of them had disappeared. Only white body parts and still no eyes.
For a while I was sure that there had been no wounds in the first place and my eyes had fooled me. Unfortunately no, this kept happening on and on. Finally I realized, that damn thing was regenerating. How can one kill something that doesen't fall into traps, doesen't get critical hits and regenates all wounds.
What can good commander do in a situation like this? Save the game and write a bug report. Mind that I was playing with version 0.23.125.23a, but I guess it doesen't make much difference.
