(( it was rolling d100s and subtracting the smaller amount from the larger. Each roll would be for either side, and it's how much of your army is destroyed. You roll twice. Say in the first round, you rolled a 23 for team A and a 44 for team B, 21% of team As army is killed. But then on the secOnd set of rolls, Team A rolled 67 and team B rolled 12, 55% of team Bs army is killed. An attack/defense system. There are of course modifiers according to relative army sizes.. I can't explain it too well, I'm on my iPod. ))

((I've been doing all my posts on an Ipad, so I feel your pain. It does seem a bit simplistic, but good overall. So with three sides, there would be six rolls?))

You do not convince me. You rationalize your actions and because the result is favorable you become right.

(( Yep. And 12 with 4 sides... It would get a bit taxing for lots of sides fighting in a free-for-all. ))

The Guard responds boredly "The Lord 'is entertaining is mistresses after eating Dragon hearts, bring up your complaints at the next meeting. Now, move along then, mate."

He butts you backwards with blunt end of his pike.

The man scowls, though he didn't exactly expect to get into the great lord Dwarmin's castle so easily. He pulls out his long dagger and pushes away the end of the guard's pike from his chest. "I wasn't expecting this to be easy, but this could get a bit more deadly if that's the kind of thing you fancy."

He procures a small bag of coinage from his person and looks at it while speaking, "I see either one or two things happening. Either you let me in and you get a bit of coin for your troubles, or you get to writhe on the floor with the tendons in your legs cut and I take your keys and walk in. Both ways I get in. And don't worry about yourself; it won't be your neck he'll be wringing if he doesn't take a liking to me. I mean your lord no harm, I merely wish an audience with him. I come representing the Ranger's Guild. Now please, accept the money and open this gate."

((Hmmmm. I'm thinking of starting my own "you are a ruler" one, a Romanocentric one. "You are the Emperor" sound good as a title?

On topic, however, what I would also use is a morale roll. Sure, you may have inflicted more casualties on the enemy than he has, but his swordsmen are better disciplined, and your peasants turned and ran. Normal troops get one roll, starting to be taken at fifty percent. Peasants and conscripts run automatically, disciplined troops get two rolls. 1d100, trying to get smaller than your % of troops left))

What we need is for Dwarmin to decide the stats of his soldiers.  Knights would obviously be stronger, have more defense and morale than simple milita, so a knight would win, so long as he isn't completely outnumbered.  Your idea of different troops having more or less turns for morale is pretty cool.

BTW, is this random number generator good for use in this game:

http://www.random.org/

edit: You know, I'm actually starting to be glad that other people are using modified versions of "You are a Lord".  It makes me feel as if I actually thought of something good.

(Effect:6, overshot)

"Bu..buh...but...buh..." The Guard takes off screaming and running, without even taking the money-or asking the keeper to open the gate. Apparently being hobbled was a childhoof fear.

All the people on the entire street hears his girlish shrieking and comes to investigate.

(Effect:3)

A troop of a dozen soldiers marches down the street, and and moves toward your general direction.

"Oy, what's all this screaming about?" They say. The gathering crowd impedes them, though.

Point at the mysterious man and say he threatened a guard
