((@Noah: We're really not going that far into lore yet, I'm mostly just assigning people different jobs for when the GM starts the game. Also, nice Godmodding, I'll do some back.  ::) ))

"Esteemed ambassador from Ztah, we welome you to the kingdom of Windhearth. If you would like to talk to my head diplomat. well, I guess we can let Advisor Hellhound have the job. Talk to him. We have not much for you to buy, except wood, which is in abundance.

Also, I read some of your recent...heh...facts. Your country may be larger than mine, but forty of those forty two are rebelling against your rule, and the much vaunted 10,000 slaves is somewhat lessened, is it not? What with the mass revolts, and mass starvation. They tell me the Tigermen Hordes beat on your borders every day, and the Dwarves have begun to reoccupy the Balmori Heights, which you have held for almost a thousand years. Yes, you Ztah always are known to put on a brave front, even when in despair."

"Great king it seems that your infomation on the tigerman hordes and dwarves are about three years old, what is left of the tigermen have fled, the Balmori heights have sunk into the ocean, there are 500,000 slave warriors not 10 thousand and those 40 countries are once again farming food for the great king  may he live forever. How ever my king's may he live forever country has just had a terrible blow my king Zergzez may he live forever has had his holy throne stolen while he was executing heritics during the holy day celebrations."

"Now hellhound we need to discuss the trade agreement, I came here to trade Gold, diamonds and gems for food, wood and the best tracker in your country"

Large groups. Small groups I'm fine with, but we must limit their number. They hold no loyalty to the crown. I'd say it would be easier to train groups of elite soldiers to do some of the tasks these adventurers would do.

I try to balance by making the kingdom too far away to effect you except maybe the odd trade

((No, you're going to have to cut back a lot of things on a large scale. ESPECIALLY THE ARMY, It's not feasible to maintain such a large force in the current tech level))

The vuild assured us earlier that they would only send us parties loyal to the king. On the subjects of the soldiers, the adventurers have been so successful because of their variety and ability to improvise. Something that elite soldiers are not known to have in large reserves

Improvisation, HA! All they do is charge in and keep fighting.

As for the guild. As long as their active members here numbers into the 10s I'm fine with their operations here, not to mention said adventurers are more powerfull in small numbers.

Quote
Priests Demands
-King Hearth swears fealty to Orcus Pontifex, the Ogre Battle-Pope, and his Holy Miter of Smiting.
-Any Necromancers who want to be accredited must spend a minimum of a year undergoing "investigation". They are not specific.
-All Necromancers and created Zombies are to wear unremovable exploding magic collars that can be triggered by member of the Clergy who tap their staffs.
-Any Undead must be created from the bodies of heathens or animals, and not the faithful.
"I can understand what your demands are.. but.. Necromancers shouldn't have a collar that can explode with a staff tap. While they may raise the dead, they are still people. The bodies thing is perfectly fine, although it would be best if there was exceptions, where we can find out who killed a high ranking member of socitity, and even then, we would only commune with the soul, and we would leave the body untouched.. And finally, the Fealty... Unacceptable. That has nothing to do with the current topic, and so we must decline. on that term."

The priests insist on some sort of safeguard-if not lethal, then perhaps something allows them to track down the location of rogue Necromancers.

They say while you are under no threat from Orcuse Pontifex, blessed be his name, even a token gesture of goodwill toward him will allow them to make your case in the Papal court that much easier. And make it less likely he will unleash the Golden Horde-an army comprised of entirely of Paladins-healers, tanks and damage dealers! It's overpowered nearly every other race and class in the world.

"Well then, a simple tracking device that doesn't directly harm then will be acceptable. Also, as a gesture of goodwill, we could create a shrine to your gods."

i grit my teeth and decide "i will now take manners into my hands. If only i could have trained the army better. Time to move"
i bring a contingent of forces to battle the dragons.
Firstly, siege engineers for Ballsitas, which are placed hidden in a plain rocky land through camouflage, to avoid the fire breath of the dragons to burn down a forest, then use fast cavalry to attract the dragons on the ballistas line of sight, and use crossbow units to fire at the dragons. Lot's of crossbow units.
And fsix ballistas.

“Do something!” she whispered, trying to keep her sight on all of them at once.
Basileus clapped his hands once. The Forgotten took a step forward, attracted by the sound.
“There, I did something. I clapped. I like clapping,” he said. -The Investigator And The Case Of The Missing Brain.

13.  Pages.  13.  Pages.  13.  Pages!

OMG I had no idea you guys would reply this much.

Ok, for starters, do you guys still want me to set down some rules?  I actually wanted this to be a sort of city management game with military, economic and political aspects.  Also, I had originally wanted to use a random number generator to decide what happens with certain things.

Anyway, I can see that a lot of people are enjoying the advisor and favor system.  It was a brilliant idea.  However, advisers, when you want to vote on something, is it ok if you quote each other so that all of us can easily follow the voting pattern?

And another thing, I really don't know if I'm in control of this anymore.  If you guys still want me to set down some restrictions and rules, post a reply.  If you want this to go in the direction of the currently popular "Keeping up with Bay-12" game I guess I can do that.

Lastly, Dwarmin, congrats on your new lordship, but remember, you are just a lord, not a king.  Sorry if i didn't explain this clearly.  Dwarmin isn't a king, he's a lord, and he just owns one of the provinces of the kingdom.  This doesn't mean every bit of progress has to be erased.  All the advisers can keep their jobs, but the thing is, the king is the master ( for now  ;) ).

I can find a way to work the "being a king to becoming a lord" thing into the plot.  I'll basically just copy Game of Thrones here.
