"let them collect the tithes. Then increase the taxes religious organizations have to pay to an amount equal to the tithes they claim by following the tax collectors...obviously without telling them it's for that reason...this should actually make the treasury even fuller"

"Lordship, I vow to serve you in any way I can until the day I die."

To Shadeknight: "I'll do my best, of course. I fear I'd become a zombie if I failed."

Then we should do that then. Now just how to deal with a pissed off religious organization.

"more than having necromancers go around bringing back dead bodies to live while many religions strictly forbid it?"

Perhaps we should limit the necromancy to enslaving the bodies of criminals and truly raising those who are considered loyal and too important to lose

As he often does, the King overhears all this, but cannot attribute it any person, and thus believes he thought of the ideas himself.

Quietly he muses..

"Zombie Farmers would never rebel against me, and they would work longer hours. But they wouldn't pay taxes either...and who wants food that's been handled by Zombies...hmm"

We shall limit it to research purposes only. And every necromancer has to be sanctioned by the crown. Outlaw necromancers are to be burned.

"or bring back from the dead the enemies soldiers which we defeat in battle to send them scourging the enemy land and use them as meat cannons for our alive soldiers, thus minimizing carnage and death...and optimizing costs, since dead men need no money, no food and no rest...i suppose." shade then hears the king, and comment
"my liege, we could zombify the enemies soldiers, and use it as an act to show the people your power, and claim that the enemies of the realm will receive this treatment. In this way, your people will go long ways to avoid being zombified"

I must agree with Taricus on the subject of handing out necromancy licenses  and the necromancers will most likely have to be kept under a close watch. On the subject of food handled by zombies perhaps a special set of clothes which would completely cover them in order to prevent genuine physical contact? After all zombies are unlikely to feel uncomfortable.

But do we want to be seen that way?

Seriously?

Yes the raising of the dead soldiers of our enemies would most likely ruin our diplomatic standing among our fellow countries not to mention that there would most likely be no chance of a peaceful end to whatever wars we get into. We would most likely have adventurers trying to assassinate our lord every other week.

The King nods to Advisor Ochita.

"Indeed. While I am considering the economic uses of zombie labor from criminals and traitors, to use them in times of war is an entirely different matter...once we start raising our enemies dead, they will raise our dead, and soon the land would be filled with walking corpse armies that battle endlessly, with no concept of honor or loyalty."

Furthermore, only corpses of monsters, criminals and foreign soldiers may be raised from the dead. This'll stop the peasants whinging about it.

And perhaps temporary higher level raising of those who are murdered or assassinated to find out who killed them?

Kinsen's Cartographer Logg: Day One, Cont.
As we talked a beggar came in. He requested to join us in our journey to the north. M'Lord let him do so. We three talked a bit more and when we had decided were to meet up Asgard jumped down from the balcony with not a single scratch. I left soon after and the beggar, StabbyMcStabStab was left to himself still rambling about monsters and treasures. I did not really catch what he was saying.

---
[Whispering]
I can not see StabbyMcStabStab and I think it would be best if we leave now or it will be too dark. I am sure he can catch up to us anyway. What do you say, Asgard?
