If Nirur is competant, then he should be promoted. For now, he has my support as well.

Now then, on to business.

- Taxes are to stay the same, now that we have more soldiers to pay.
- We'll use these soldiers to sart clearing out the trolls and gnolls.
- Nirur's promotion is being discussed. At the very least he could be a yeoman.
- Full compensation for the lost harvest shall be provided.

My lord, I must express my doubts at Advisor Shadenight's skills in diplomacy. These demands are outrageous! Send me to negotiate in his place, and you will have no more trouble from the peasantry.

"now, you see my dear kinsmen, for we are all kinsmen of our mighty and just lord, i will bring forth your demands to the lord, and wait for his answers, but i do promise you this, maybe i will not manage to make the lord lower the taxes, or repay for the damages suffered because you decided to riot, and thus you reaped what you sowed...but i do promise the hills will be cleaned from the raiders, and their loot given to you as repayment, and i will speak to the lord to have Nirur named the head of agriculture, so do not worry, and keep being nice, healthy, and happy kinsmen of the lord" with this word, i travel back to the castle, to report to the lord as it follows:
"my liege, the rioters have calmed down with little to none bloodshed. Their demands are as follows, they seak lower taxes during the seasons of most labour for them, and the repayment of the damages caused to stop their riots. To this point, i told them that it would be a little difficult, so they will not expect them done. In this way, they will not feel uncontent. They have problems with the raiders in the hills, if those were taken out, the loot that the raiders gathered, might be given "back" to the farmers, thus giving them back what would be theirs, without spending a penny from the royal treasury. Finally, they demand Nirur royal advisor, and i deem it would be quite easy to accept him as head of agriculture, if needed, i will adopted him in my family, thus granting him noble lineage." such are my words.

“Do something!” she whispered, trying to keep her sight on all of them at once.

*Shootandrun sends a letter to the mayor of the only port in the kingdom, a little city with only four merchant ships in his docks.*
-In the name of the king, I order the construction of three galleons and a caravel. The merchant ships are to be sent east, following the trade routes of the western kingdoms - a map will be sent with this message. There, they will find the city of Mashrapur, after four months of journey. Sell them fur of poor quality, for they don't know the difference between the fur of a dog or a wolf, and buy spice with the money you will make. After that, go to the kingdom of Gothir wich will be on the northern road after two months, and sell the spice in their ports. Come back to Windheat after you sold it all - it will take two months.

Once the construction of the caraval is finished, send it  around our Kingdom and tell the captain to make a map of all the shores around our lands, and note if we could claim some without starting a war. The galleons are to wait for my orders before taking military actions.

*He added his seal on the letter, and sent it.*

Can I have a full report on the number of ships in our fleets, and their category? I only found information about the merchant ships.

With respect, my lord, these are peasants. They should be taught about their real place in this world. You are their god-given ruler, and they are in no position to make demands of your grace.

I agree that these goblins and trolls should be cleansed out, but that is hardly a matter for the crown. Their demand on taxes is simply ludicrous. Indeed, I think that to pay for our new army, we should raise taxes for a while! Of course, only after the scum have calmed down.

I have no qualms about the addition of this Nirur Torir to the court, but you should not do it yet. You'll look weak if it seems like you've bowed down to their demands.

I suggest we put to sword those who resist. We will look weak to the world if we do not.

"I deeply thank you for supporting me. I would sooner die then disgrace this position by failing.
I am deeply honored by Shadeknight's willingness to adopt me.

I suppose the rioters want me as adviser to show that you care about the commoners. Others might choose not to rebel if they realize you care, and have me representing them.
It's harder to pay taxes during planting, which takes many people but takes a while to pay off. Around Fallowgrove, the town near my farm, most everyone would stop their other jobs to help out during harvest, and so had less money to pay taxes. Perhaps you could raise taxes during growing seasons to pay for lower taxes during those other times?"

Peglegpenguin stumbles awkwardly into the room with a package, but quickly regains his composure upon seeing the lord. He makes sure to bow deeply at his leader's presence.

"Oh, my great lord, most wonderful news from the royal alchemy labs. We have discovered a miracle substance, one that is stronger than steel. I have even brought you a sample..." Peglegpenguin look around, and notices the commotion, including a zombie. "What on earth?" He opens his package, and takes out what appears to be a green dagger, apparently readying for battle.

"Ah, sir. These demands.. Well, we can simply call for an adventuring party to solve the problem, and we could get away with only spending.. 400 gold? It would be cheaper than using the army, and the monsters would be cleared out... As with Nirur, we could make him appear to have the full powers of an advisor, which would please the rebels without letting them get any true power here. With recompensation... Perhaps the soldiers could help tend the fields, as a gesture of goodwill? Obviously, this would only happen in peace times."

"soldiers must be soldiers. To have them plow the fields in peace times makes them weak. An army is an army if it is trained to only be an army. Send experienced in close quarters fighting and guerrilla tactics to clean the hills, no mounted units, but a couple of lancers for the raiders horse. Because they have horse. or they wouldn't be raider but sissies who lack any finesse. why call an adventuring party when we have an army we pay for to have the kingdom protected? it's not like we have to hire dragon killers to kill a dragons. this are mere raiders. and would ninur comply to only appear to have power? that would worsen things. And you're forgetting one fact, advisor ochita, you're thinking ninur will act on the benefit of the rebels. while, truefully, he will act on the benefit of farmers all, and agriculture foremost. And a kingdom who cannot satiate himself, is no better than a welp crying for the mother's tits. this is something anyone can see. And the army is supposed to protect people, to make the nation thrive, not to suppress the strenght of arms which give food to us all. that must not be forgotten. you kill the revolts with blood, you lose the people. You have less food, more riots happen for food. prices grow, people grow angry, mobs become happening, and when the army sees it has to kill it's own brothers and sisters and mothers it revolts itself. voilà, you have a turmoil. then, ninur, i'm waiting for an answer, yes or no, i understand you're honored, but i still need to know if you wish so or not"

Kinsen's Cartographer Logg: Day One
I ran back to my teacher as fast I could to tell him of the news. He started to frown and mumble something about M'Lord being unreasonable to send a novice cartographer to map out Man Eating Polar Troll territory. He soon turned around and told me about how this was madness and that I should turn M'Lord down.

Teacher Faa: "It is madness to map out the northen Man Eating Polar Troll territory. As you should know the Man Eating Polar Trolls are vicious and the northen ones are more vicious than the southen ones. I can not let you go on this quest for your journeyman emblem. Turn back to his Lord and tell his Lord that you are not to take this journey."

Kinsen: "But Faa, this is my last chance to get my emblem. I have already failed twice from unfortunate accidents. If I do not do this now the Cartographer Guild will not give me the journeyman emblem and I will have to wait another two years. I can not wait more."

Teacher Faa: "I know that. But what is more important, the emblem or your life?"

Kinsen: "That is easy; the emblem."

Teacher Faa: *sigh* "Very well, but try to persue his Lord to allow someone to go with you on your quest."

Kinsen: "I can ask, but I can not promise M'Lord can help me."

As I ran back for an audiance with M'Lord and told M'Lord of what my teacher told me, M'Lord appointed one of his followers to me. Asgard was his name, and a fallen angel it would seem.
