their fanatism is in fact not religious to the church, but religeous to the lord (who they will be brought to consider a god) and to the Head of the military, (who they will considered the Chosen by God to guide them) If they were loyal only to the lord, through the brainwashing needed to make them elite among men, they'd end up not taking any orders from anyone else. (Thus preventing their use abroad, or in other places)

((I think as long as they are more loyal to the lord than to the head of the military (if shade says "kill the lord" and the lord says "kill shade" they kill shade) everything is gonna be alright.))

The group of beggars move away and they shout "Thankee kindly, master!"


Another group of beggars come up. Less of a "down on their luck" and more "too crazy to get work" group this time. One appears to have a duck on his head.

They rap on the door, and one of the splutters out, in between coughing, "Millenium hand and shrimp!"

One of Advisor Talarion's servants (The ones he employs to housekeep for him) opens a slot in the door, looks at the beggar for a second, before closing the slot and ignoring it.

While the others continue rapping at the door, one of the beggars grabs some pans from their pack and starts handing them around.  Soon, the sound of pots being banged echoes throughout the streets. It continues and gets louder and louder.


Meanwhile, at the other end of the house, three people clad in dark colours climb up the walls of the house and onto the roof, while a fourth attempt to pick the lock of a door on the ground level.

A rather tall man wearing a very dark green cloak and hood rides up to the castle gate, his entrance masked by the dark, consuming void that the shade of night had produced. He dismounts, taking account the size and armor of the man guarding the portcullis that served as the castle's gate.

"Hail, good sir. I have come to address thy lord. I am a Ranger. I have traveled from the distant land of Araluen, come to do thy master's bidding." He said, his face somehow still not visible despite the guard's torch. He stands at attention patiently, waiting for the guard's answer.
